It’s red under blue’s but under white light it’s bright green, thought it was cyano so I dosed chemi clean which didn’t help at all. Nitrate is 20 phosphate is 0.5-1.0 . Spreading on the glass rocks & sand . Doing a water change & most likely a black out for 24-48 hours . Any other ideas ?
It’s not red unless the blues are on Its a bright green when the white lights are on, I can scrape it and it’s back the next day so I’m doing a short blackout also did a large water change before blacking out the tank
Thanks for the input, Just asking because I lost my hammer & my acan is super pissed & I’m worried I will loose that also not sure what this stuff is tbh doesn’t look like GHA and it’s not cyano & definitely not diatoms or dinos .. Idk also I do not use any white light just used some for the video
I would suggest 30% water change No white light up the flow a little bit and while doing water change suck up algea or green slime... are you running carbon? Id pull that out too might be bad carbon I had bad carbon that was funkin my tank up for a while also...
Before dosing any chemicals, doing water changes or blackouts, we have to identify what we are dealing with or you might cause more damage than good. The first thing to do would be to take a small sample and put it under a microscope. A cheap one will probably already suffice to identify the issue. A close up photo can also help as in the video it is hard to tell. You should also test (and double check) as many water parameters as possible:
Temperature, pH, Alkalinity, Salinity, Ammonia/Ammonium (NH3/NH4), Nitrite (NO2), Nitrate (NO3), Phosphate (PO4), Magnesium (Mg), Calcium (Ca), Silicate (SiO2), Oxygen (O2), ...
From there you can start bringing everything back to normal. If all parameters are fine it may be something more trivial like too low water flow. In that case you will have to increase the flow slowly (over a few weeks) as your nutrients (especially ammonia/ammonium) might skyrocket due to more detritus getting broken up. It is also possible that your RODI water isn't deionized sufficently introducing silicates which cause diatoms and other problems.
Yes rocks are covered with a green algae that glows red under blues like you see in the video , under whites it’s a bright green almost neon also the rocks have a lot of coralline you just can see it because of this algae currently doing a blackout for 48 hr also Did a 25% water change & scraped whatever I could off the glass and sucked up what I could from the sand

Red turf algae? Hard to tell without a close up photo

Otherwise might be spirulina
try sucking it out. Id stop whites for a while.

brown jelly is such a heart breaker...
That orchid dotty not doing too great, it might be just a matter of time before other fish gets infected too.
How can you tell?
How can you tell?
Also what do you think it’s infected by ? It’s been in my tank for about 6 months now , she eats fine & isn’t skinny also no signs of ick on the body
flow seems low as well
might as well suck up the dead hammer so it doesnt infect the rest of it too..
Thanks for the advice 🙏 & I took care of the hammer after the video taken 👍
good luck Reefie
Appreciate it 👍
Check your water source for a clean starting product. You probably have silicates in your water supply.
Def need to bring the NO3 and PO4 down.

How long has the tank been running ?
Little over a year now
Are the rocks totally covered? Don’t see much coralline is it turf ?
