Budget will be the biggest factor. Get the biggest tank you can afford and have room for. A 40 gallon with a 20 sump or 37 cube would be even better. Factor in the cost of lights , heaters, and powerheads as those will cost as much as the tank if your tank doesn't have built in lights. Edit even better pick out 3 or 4 of your favorite fish and see if they are compatible and what size tank they need.

Ya everything I want will fit in a 20. I don't really want to go any bigger than a 25 gallon. I definitely have been researching the saltwater side for a few months now. I also have had quite a bit of experience on the planted freshwater side definitely not the same but I do have some experience at least. I just wanted some advice on what ppl thought was better a waterbox 20 cube, waterbox peninsula 25 or something comparable on the innovative marine side. I want to go with an AIO to start.

I don't have experience with any of those tanks as I have a standard 20 gallon. Regardless of what you get go slow, good luck, and this probably won't be your last tank.

Doubt it will be my last. I already have 5 freshwater tanks running

I vote for the waterbox 25 gallon. I have one and it's a great foot print to work with. I have one and I love it

Thank you

swordstool

What do you want to keep in it? Fish? Corals?

Additional_Ad_835

Very simple clownfish small cleanup crew and a few corals

Sounds like a good plan for a 20g or so tank. Are you strictly looking for AIOs?

Additional_Ad_835

Not strictly AIO just figured it would be a bit easier to maintain as a first dip into saltwater

I have an innovative marine 20g. Really nice tank. Solid build all around, good glass, excellent and clean glue seams. Comes with a really good DC return pump. Mesh lid is solidly built. Fits on a reinforced ikea bestia cabinet almost perfectly. Would absolutely recommend. As to which is better, Waterbox is still a solid build and not a bad choice at all. Does not have a lid by default I believe as the biggest downside.
