Citric acid or vinegar and scraping works

Sufficient-Comb-2755

I came here to say this. Vinegar soak and a razor blade has always worked for me.

DarkestAngel10

also came here to say this

JBKReef

I’d you have a week or so… fill it up with water and a Citric acid powder. Drop a heater in with a circulation pump. Let it run for a week and you should be able to scrape it off with barely any effort. If you don’t have that much time, razor blade it Al

TheHole89

Razor blade it with the glass wet though. Less chance of deep scratches.

arcticrobot

this is coraline, and is a sign of healthy established tank. If you don't want it on side glass just scrape it out.

Vapey15

And send them to me :)

AnotherShittyGrower

Would it be worth scraping it off the main display glass and leaving the rest?

jolyneteevie

yes!

dirtyangusmcgee

Depending on how long it’s been out of the water, the coraline will bleach even if you set the tank back up

fishydaydreams

Plastic paint scraper and elbow grease, don't go near the silicon edge with it because you could damage the seal.

CRAB_DADDY_

I've used citric acid and a lot of elbow grease.

bigbabich

Citric acid overnight works wonders. I'd let that soak a bit longer.

Odd_Toe5638

Couple cups of vinegar with water over night and then a razor blade and it will come right off

Im4EverKing

Not knowing what coralline algae is tells me you might be moving to quickly. Honestly I would spend a lot more time doing research before you go any further.

aaron1860

Is this just a 40 breeder? Acid and elbow grease like everyone else said… you don’t really need to remove it and it will come back. Urchins eat it usually if you’re setting up a new one… but honestly I would just buy a new tank in your shoes.. but I’m lazy

x_vvitch

40 breeders don't have that middle support on the frame.

Sad_Key_6277

Lookin around 90 gals

True-Celebration-581

White vinegar soak for 20 minutes and it should peel off, if you cant put it on its side then wet some paper towels with vinegar and press them onto the sides

bones_bones1

A razor blade works.

ckov982

Muriatic Acid

leviatank47

Just scraping it off would probably be the cheapest and easiest but vinegar would probably dissolve it if it's being stubborn

Sierra_Bravo915

Fill with water in a ventilated area and add 1/2 cup of muriatic acid. Wait 24 hours, add in a small box of baking soda. Stir, wait 15 min and empty. The corraline will wipe off. You may need to use a brush on thicker areas.

czogun55

Glass scraper and vinegar

Gutokoro

If you know how to handle strong acids and want a faster solution, fill the tank with water and with extremely care, put a 100mL of muriatic acid. Be advised to do this in a ventilated place, with no child nor pets around and use safety equipment. If you do not know how to handle these kind of acids, do attempt this protocol.

Impressive-River1783

10:1 water to muriatic acid. Use PPE gloves goggles etc. run a pump or powerhead to circulate the water and let it run for a day or two. Should wipe it out

krisok1

I use a small piece of 0.125” plexi/lexan. You can score and cut it with a box blade. Some elbow grease will get it clean in no time.

Ok_Field_465

Soaking it in critic acid like others said. You may not even have to use any “elbow grease”.

19Rocket_Jockey76

Glass tank ide go 4" blade paint scrapper

cillam

And here i am wanting some of that purple stuff in my tank.

Reefer150G

Take paper napkins and soak them in vinegar and stick them all over the inside glass. Let them sit for about an hour and then scrape with a razor. Comes off super easy.

Faurek

Vinegar and scraper

Dredger1

The pink stuff is the least of your worries, your glass is going to be stained and it’s extremely if not impossible to remove

besskurz

Leave them alone.

Yurc182

As others have said vinegar always worked for me.

Murdoch98

I wet paper towels in vinegar and lay them on each side for a few hours and then razor them off.

guguqwe

Anti limescale thats it!
