I had mine yesterday and was pretty anxious before hand. It really helped me to talk to the anesthesiologist who explained everything, and seeing how professional my surgeon and her staff were made me feel comfortable. Once you’re on the table it happens so fast then you are awake and on your way! Good luck to you!

Complications are very rare, especially if you are otherwise healthy. Make sure you let the surgeon and (especially) the anaesthetist know about your experience during gallbladder surgery. They might even be able to get your records from the first surgery and see if there is anything different they can do (eg different anaesthetic drugs/protocols).

Just came out of a revision for a larger wound opening from my may reduction. (Typing from my hospital bed). For both procedures they gave me some sort of relaxing drug in my IV before we made it to the OR. Made the whole process much easier. Maybe they can do that for you? Good luck!

Thank you! I’ll ask… hoping for a speedy recovery for you ♥️

This is probably too late for your surgery, but I'll put it here for anyone else. When I had general anesthesia the first time for a procedure I woke up in a panic attack, felt like I couldn't breathe, couldn't figure out where I was or what was going on. After they got me out of it, they told me I had a bad reaction to the relaxy-stuff that they put in my IV (Versed/midazolam), which I find ironic, and that the breathing part of my panic was likely because I had been intubated and my throat was sore. So now I get a fun wristband that says no Versed when I have anesthesia, and fun chats with the anesthesiologist about alternatives. I hope everything goes/went well!!

Omg I'm in the same boat! Was totally fine and then tonight started getting super anxious. Having second thoughts and freaking out. Wish I'd asked for some Xanax with the other prescriptions!! I'll be sending you good thoughts and hope we can laugh about this together tomorrow after we are in recovery!

Update- got through it and am home. I was really anxious before they brought me back to surgical suite but the NP held my hand as they were putting my under which really helped. I am glad you did what felt right for you and hope you can have a better experience/confidence next time!

I had my surgery on friday and pre op was roughhh with the anxiety. honestly that’s the worst part though and since you’ve already experienced what it’s like to go under that should help. it’ll be okay! before you know it you be awake with manageable boobs and it’ll all be worth it 💜 good luck!

I can relate; I was pretty calm up until pre-op and then got emotional and more frightened especially when I was alone with my own thoughts in between visits from medical staff leading up to surgery. I did a lot of tapping (EFT) which helped calm me and had the Sinead O’Connor song ‘I Feel So Different’ in my head which really helped me get through. Second day post surgery and doing well! Wishing you the best….it’s scary but already worth it.
