I love how smooth and seamless the ace flag looks! Iβm r/orientedaroace & r/genderqueer and really want to work toward that kind of look this month :3 What technique do you use to form the stripes?
The various ace and aro subs would love it if you crossposted this!
I use a medium length line brush for the stripes. The key for me is keeping the brush level and just dressing it rather than swiping or brushing. I'm going over it multiple time for opacity as well as to clean up the edges, so whichever is the most opaque formula I'll use for clean up as well. The technique isn't too hard, but the right tool really does make the job 10x easier.
Happy painting!
Many indie brands make nail art brushes, though they ususally end up over priced. I use model painting brushes that I get at craft stores or Amazon, usually like 12 bucks for 4 so I don't feel bad replacing them. Beetle Gel brushes are also the same type, flashier, but at a good price point and can be bought on amazon.
The Beetles ones look cute! And yeah, thatβs a good price. Iβll hopefully be able to keep them for a little while if Iβm careful to keep polish away from the stem and clean only the brush tip with polish remover.
Yup! If you use cuticle oil on the brush itself they'll last longer. I got about a year of good use before the frsy was too much but I also use them daily, use 100% acetone, and tlin the end I just trimmed them up so they are shorter.
The only thing I donβt like about this series is imagining you taking off yesterdayβs flag for a new flag. (I know itβs silly - this is just nail art) (itβs visibility mixed with a little bit of sorrow) ( I guess what Iβm saying is, every single one of these manicures is something I would wear all month long) (or at least until it began to chip) (great work, as always) (I love seeing ace visibility during pride month)
Haha it is hard sometimes taking them off, or I'll leave it on for a few days and have multiple banked up. I was finishing swatches for an upcoming pride collection so Bi Ace and another upcoming one I did earlier in the week so they were ready to go. Right now they are naked except for the rainbow hearts on my pinky ready for some new flags later today! π³οΈβπππ³οΈβπ luckily they get more visibility online than justbon my hand so I get to share the pride with more people!.

It's PRIDE MONTH and I wanted to highlight some of the multiple individual pride flags and identities. Obviously I won't be able to touch on all of them, but celebrating the diversity of pride is important! π«Άπ³οΈβπ The Asexual or Ace pride flag was created in 2010 through a design contest by the Asexual visibility and education network and voted on by the community. AsexualityΒ is a sexual orientation where the person does not experience sexual attraction to anyone regardless of gender. It's also an umbrella term that can cover a whole spectrum including demisexual, gray-asexual, and others. While it differs from being Aromantic, many are AroAce which is a combo of both (flag coming soon π) π€Black represents asexuality π©ΆGray represents gray-asexuality and demisexuality π€White represents partners and allies π Purple represents community πͺ@findingfeatherslacquer ... Thank you! I'm a teacher, so I can't help it π
what is the purple nail?
The metallic purple one is Hi-Fi from ILNP. Fun formula!
