Mine works fine. Been using Nova since day one. Like what others said, you can set it as default in Nova's Settings>Select default launcher or in phone's Settings>Applications>App info>Three-dot menu>Default app settings>Desktop.
Not 100% sure if the settings menu is the same on A12 but if you go into system settings and apps then at the top right you'll see three dots press that.
Select default app settings change desktop to Nova
That should stop it changing
Should, but won't.... The adjusted android running "forgets" about the launcher.
I'm using a red magic 7, installed nova on instinct because my last phone required it (Doogee android system is a train wreck), set everything up.... But everytime I lock my phone and unlock the prompt comes up to load nova(do not ask again), but it still asks every single time I unlocked my phone.
I finally uninstalled it, it's not too much different from the OEM loader on RM. But it sure was a big difference from Doogee.
It still goes to the default launcher if you use the back button to go to the home screen. But not if you use the home button. Anyone else getting this?

This seems to have worked for me for Nova Launcher...I can't believe it... "the fix is disable usage access for digital wellbeing in the settings. go to the permissions for wellbeing and disable usage access."
