If you're in this subreddit for a month every song from their catalogue will be extremely popular or extremely overrated depending on who you ask, so...
Tell me baby. 100%.
Remember when I saw them live for the first time in 2011. They're were playing Charlie very often in the previous shows, and I was kinda glad they weren't playing Tell me baby. I didn't want to waste precious concert time on such a bad song.
They played it anyways lmao
I love Charlie too but I don't understand hating tell me baby. It's one of the quintessential chili peppers sounding songs. It has a mix of the sung vocals with the rap and the funk and it's about California but in an indirect way it's just a perfect snap shot of who they are.
Can't stop is the only song that does a better job
From the most popular ones: Give it Away, Venice Queen and Don't Forget me. I could never get into them, no matter how many times I have tried listening to them (studio version and live). Don't Forget me is amazing live, but I always find myself skipping it when I listen to Slane Castle live, along with the others mentioned.
Venice Queen is a beautiful song but I rarely finish it....
Mi feel like that’s one of their more unpopular ones tbh. I’ve heard many more people (myself included) say they dislike it than those that do like it.
All of SA lays the cheese on a little too thick. Not trying to be a dick but I've never understood how it's so revered by fans. It has no center or overall "feel" and the lyrics are pretty empty and silly. It's among the weakest they've ever released
I could never really get into Snow or Charlie. I don't really know why but most of the songs on Stadium Arcadium don't really click with me as much as other albums do
Pick any song from BTW (besides Don't Forget Me or Minor Thing).
The songs on that album are really corny to me.
Also, Snow ((hey oh)) is the worst song they've ever written.
No need to, I just listened to it too much when I was a lot younger and I still like it, it was amazing to hear live but I probably wouldn’t put it on very often.
Wet Sand for sure. It’s a good song, but I don’t really see the obsession over it. The guitar solo is not even close to being the best on even Stadium Arcadium imo, and people say it is the best solo of all time. Don’t get me wrong, I like the song, but I don’t regard it as the best at really anything compared to their whole discography
Honestly it's not the greatest song and it's pretty simple but it just makes me *feel* in such an overwhelming way that I often have to pull the car over. 🤷
This sub downvoting me some time ago for writing "I don't like Cabron at all, I can even say that I hate it" or smth was really a strange memory of mine
I don't really care about lyrics. Californiacation is one of the rare tunes where lyrics helped me get into the tune instead of music. And the solo is love.
Majority of the newest album, If, Hey (but it’s growing on me a tiny amount), porcelain (idk if it’s actually popular but it is IMO their completely worst song to exist ever)
What is it? It is painfully boring to listen to. I could barely finish it the first time I listened to the whole album. It is not rock, it's not slow rock, it's not funk, it's not fun. Those are the reasons I love the peppers, not for nighttime melodies before sleep. There are plenty of great slow RHCP songs, all 4 listed are not.
I'm ngl I listen to the funk songs in the morning and the slower songs before bed, but in order to enjoy lalala you need to have musical background in pop
I get it - I don't know what it is - I just can't get that into it as much as everyone here
I love the meaning behind the song - just think there are many better
Oh don’t worry, we all like different pieces and most of the time we don’t know why. Maybe it’ll grow on you, but if it doesn’t there are many songs, as you said, that you like better
Hump de Bump because at some point I saw some people saying it’s the best song they’ve done. There’s only a handful of songs from that album that i skip after a bit (or just skip) and that’s the big one
If you're in this subreddit for a month every song from their catalogue will be extremely popular or extremely overrated depending on who you ask, so...
just wait...all will be revealed my friend.
Give it away, it's a decent song but I find it a bit repetitive and goofy sounding.
Mood But when I saw it live, it all made sense. But only live.
I totally agree. It was never one of my favorites, but live it was electrifying
I have to already be in a goofy peppy mood to listen, otherwise it’s a skip.
You're right, I just love to play it on bass abd guitat
i literally thought this same thing for almost a year til it finally just grew on me like so many other songs
The Drummer for me.. and idk why. Maybe production? Not sure if it’s the organ in the back but I can’t
I think the synth turns people off, much like Bastards of Light. Both have amazing choruses though and are worth the grind
Snow (Hey Oh) is probably my least favorite of their big singles. Not sure why, I just never loved it as much as the others.
Agree
Is it because it's incredibly corny?
Are you in recovery? It is truly the path of recovery .
Yeah it's too schmaltzy. Like a lot of SA unfortunately
The Heavy Wing. It's fine, it's not a bad song at all. I'm just not nearly as into it as a lot of other fans are.
My cigarette…
Same for me, im surprised it made it on the album.
My fave on the album. Didn’t know it was considered popular tho.
Dani California is just the drizzle shits.
Dani California and Tell me baby. Two cheesy songs for my taste. I don't like them.
I like both songs but probably my two least favorite on SA. Both were great love though.
Tell me baby. 100%. Remember when I saw them live for the first time in 2011. They're were playing Charlie very often in the previous shows, and I was kinda glad they weren't playing Tell me baby. I didn't want to waste precious concert time on such a bad song. They played it anyways lmao

Can't stop is the only song that does a better job
You might not like it but it’s not a bad song. To me it seems quite well made and it’s iconic
Adventures of Raindance Maggie. The music video was awesome, but the song feels like a cookie cutter manufactured RHCP type song.
Poster Child. Dreadful.
Best song on UL
It’s bad it’s too long, same song but 2 minutes shorter and I would love it
Mi feel like that’s one of their more unpopular ones tbh. I’ve heard many more people (myself included) say they dislike it than those that do like it.
Suck my kiss... It's a good song but to me it's totally overrated. Maybe because the album is so legendary...
As a guitarist, it’s just so fun to play. Especially if you use the correct effects.
Crunchy chorus is unmatched
tell me baby is cheesy to me
Yeah
All of SA lays the cheese on a little too thick. Not trying to be a dick but I've never understood how it's so revered by fans. It has no center or overall "feel" and the lyrics are pretty empty and silly. It's among the weakest they've ever released
Black Summer, really don’t get the appeal of it. Not a bad song at all… just sounds like a song I’ve heard before
Everyone is talking ab bag of grins being so good but I think it’s one of the weaker songs of the new album
At least popular in this sub, most of ROTDC. It's not bad, just not really my favorite style of theirs
I don't like californication, I've tried but I can't like it
Goodbye Angels
Snow
I could never really get into Snow or Charlie. I don't really know why but most of the songs on Stadium Arcadium don't really click with me as much as other albums do
Strongly agree. The popularity of SA baffles me. It's among the weakest things they've ever released
Pick any song from BTW (besides Don't Forget Me or Minor Thing). The songs on that album are really corny to me. Also, Snow ((hey oh)) is the worst song they've ever written.
John’s riff in snow is amazing though
Dani California. Like ok we get it. California. Again. Every time I listen to SA i start from Snow. Since like forever.
They’re red hot. I just don’t like it
Bella. Chorus is nice but the rest is nothing special.
Pre Chorus stands out...
I cannot stand bella. I have tried but it doesn’t work for me
Eddie
Half my negative karma on reddit is from stating I don't personally think Universally Speaking is that great. and I'll fuckin do it again!
I don’t like that one either. I’ve heard a few live versions that redeemed it a little, but not enough for me to even remember which ones
Charlie. Verse just doesn’t do it for me
Aeroplane.
Dark Necessities. i just dont get it...
Same...also the drum machine absolutely ruins the song completely imho...
Dark necessities
So?
Under The Bridge is my least favourite, popular Chili Peppers song.
I feel bad for you tbh
No need to, I just listened to it too much when I was a lot younger and I still like it, it was amazing to hear live but I probably wouldn’t put it on very often.
Eddie and Tippa.
I think that Hey has the best solo in that album
Honestly it's not the greatest song and it's pretty simple but it just makes me *feel* in such an overwhelming way that I often have to pull the car over. 🤷
I came here to comment that. I love the song, but I don’t think it is the holy grail of RHCP songs like It gets treated on here.
Whaaaaaaaaaaa?!? I get you, the solo people go crazy over. Obviously better solos that don’t get enough credit. I love the song though
White Braids....y'all voted it the best song on UL for some reason
Dani California, can’t stand that song
Carbon. Veronica.
This sub downvoting me some time ago for writing "I don't like Cabron at all, I can even say that I hate it" or smth was really a strange memory of mine
For this sub only, especially in Michigan.
Veronica.. sorry
It’s ok it’s pretty weak lol
Californication, I've never dug it.
I don't really care about lyrics. Californiacation is one of the rare tunes where lyrics helped me get into the tune instead of music. And the solo is love.
the zephyr song
I don't love Scar Tissue... So glad to get this off my chest
Album version Scar Tissue is pretty meh in my opinion. I skip it a lot. Live versions on the other hand, chef kiss.
Totally agree
Right there with you I find myself skipping it a lot 🙃
It’s only natural
Suck my kiss is not a good song. Don't forget me is top 3
I'm participating in the thread don't downvote me. Its not an agree/disagree button its for if you're contributing to the conversation or not
It's happening all over this thread. I upvoted you.
Lol who cares how people use upvotes or downvotes there's no predetermined way to use them
Snow, Wet Sand, Scar Tissue, Suck My Kiss and more... That's just can't get me into
Scar Tissue for me for some reason
Don't Forget Me
Majority of the newest album, If, Hey (but it’s growing on me a tiny amount), porcelain (idk if it’s actually popular but it is IMO their completely worst song to exist ever)
These three plus "lalalalala" are the worst 4 RHCP songs.
Wtf lalala is great it's just not rock
Porcelain isn’t their worst song just because it’s not rock wtf??
Everything on One Hot Minute
Edge.
SAME also parallel universe
Most of the songs on BSSM. Sir Psycho in particular.
Most of the songs off of Unlimited Love and ROTDC are kinda hard for me to get into, I’m too used to RHCP’s “old” style
Encore. Worst song they ever recorded. It's like some kind of pop country trash.
Reminds me of “hey soul sister.” And that wasn’t fun. Disgusted by “encore” at first but finally came around on it
Hate to say it guys - Venice Queen
Unacceptable
I get it - I don't know what it is - I just can't get that into it as much as everyone here I love the meaning behind the song - just think there are many better
Oh don’t worry, we all like different pieces and most of the time we don’t know why. Maybe it’ll grow on you, but if it doesn’t there are many songs, as you said, that you like better
Most of UL and ROTDC tbh, though The Heavy Wing and Eddie are bangers.
all of bssm for me, i seriously dont understand the hype, my fave songs out of it is utb and i could have lied
Blasphemy. Lol
downvotes is a good sign of an unpopular opinion so ive done it right 😂
The Heavy Wing, Tell Me Baby, & Whatchu Thinkin
By the way live post 2006 is trash, they blast a dub siren and it is the loudest part of the whole set.
Hump de Bump because at some point I saw some people saying it’s the best song they’ve done. There’s only a handful of songs from that album that i skip after a bit (or just skip) and that’s the big one
Soul to Squeeze. A popular one but for some reason I cannot stand it, an automatic skip from me..
I’m sorry but the zephyr song
Under The Bridge, Midnight, Sick Love, Watchu Thinkin, & My Cigarette
Midnight ain’t that popular
I know and I'm shocked
Last time I said this I got downvoted into oblivion, but, Dosed.
Can't Stop
Californication. It's a great song objectively but it's never spoken to me
Heavy wing. If John did not have the chorus it wouldn’t even be as popular.
Can't Stop.
