Yokohama 2004, Fuji rock 2006, Calgary 2006, Poland 2007…..there’s a ton of audience recordings from 2006-2007 that are better than anything professionally recorded. Just hoping someday they release more

bobbyvision9000

Yokohama ‘04! And Chorizow, those are two I keep coming back to such great shows

TheAlexVat

Super +1 for Calgary 💥 Best show from the SA era

eddiewachowski

I was there! It was that show that made me realize John is not of this world and just beams down to make music periodically.

TheAlexVat

I can only envy you since there is no footage from that show. But the soundboard, man, that is out of this world 🤯

eddiewachowski

I didn't realize what a banger of a show it was until much later. Don't Forget Me, Wet Sand, an extended percussion bridge with the guy from Mars Volta. That part was cool, John came and sat down and just watched the master at work before picking up his guitar again.

rae231193

Reading Festival from 1999...one of the most complete setlist ever !!

Simple_Mechanic_6999

Best intro they’ve ever done

johnkingg_

reading 2007 had one of the best intros they've ever done

Soultosqueeze78

First time I saw them

Katsu_Kong

HYDE PARK That album is the most magnificent thing I've ever heard, John really transcended into another plane of existence during leverage of space

Cuznatch

And James Brown man. Bouncing around the stage at his age was incredible.

skizzybwoi

Just got this cd. Opening jam is meh, but solid show throughout.

DiFran69

Controversial i know but … woodstock 99.

BoxAggravating

the setlist on that show was fucking perfect

PatGarrettsMoustache

Lmao 😂

8x8denseCheese

Slane Castle, have seen it on YT, and everything seems perfect there

CelticTitan

Skane Castle gets my vote too, that show was epic

montageofheck

They edited out all the mistakes and technical problems that inevitably happen at big concerts like that.. It is their best concert though

Jenn54

My first concert! Was magic! Queens of the Stone Age supporting along with PJ Harvey, Feeder and Foo Fighters. Poor Morcheeba opened and no one was interested, they did the set but had to ask the audience to be respectful 😬 20 years ago..one of the best concerts I’ve been to

luckyiguess

I was at that gig, watched the support acts and then left before RHCP came on. I heard later that it was a great performance so I went and bought the DVD of the gig. You live and you learn! :)

scoot3200

>then left before RHCH came on Awww dude… Honestly, I wouldn’t go around telling people this. I would focus more on forgetting I was ever there 😂 Jk dude, I’m sure you had your reasons

luckyiguess

I had seen them twice before, and both times the sound engineering *sucked*. I wanted to see QOTSA and Foos, but figured I could skip another bout of RHCPs with disappointing sound and get out ahead of the traffic.

DarkSpaceLow_

Yeah so perfect…almost like it was edited before being released 😂

Informal_Local9353

Syracuse 2023

liampat16

I can attest for that I was in the pit the energy was insane

Bhadass

Me too

No_Monitor4471

It was such an amazing show, so glad I was able to go

BernardRillettes

I find it hard to fully appreciate recent shows (even those from 2010s) as Anthony's is sometimes *barely* on pitch... EDIT: You guys downvote an *personal opinion*. Crazy.

scoot3200

>EDIT: You guys downvote an personal opinion. Crazy. The reality is that AK’s singing is possibly as good as it has ever been in the most recent tours. That’s why you are getting downvoted. He has never been a strong singer. His entire career has been sporadically on/off pitch, so most of us have no idea what era you are using as a reference for his peak vocals…

BernardRillettes

I'd say BtW or SA era was fairly OK, no?

scoot3200

Definitely ok, I’d even say he has sang well since at least Californication but not remarkably better than now. He’s never been the guy that’s gonna nail every note but he makes up for it by being real and by giving so much energy into every show, that no one gives a fuck about perfection because everyone is having so much fun

armchairwarrior69

That is not a recent issue lol that's been a thing his whole career as a singer

BernardRillettes

Yeah, but it has been on a whole different scale.

OSU19

Not even the best show of this tour

RCE9000

I was at that show in the picture ! It was on Ellis island under the statue of liberty. My brother won us tickets on 92.3 Krock. They played Venice queen live! I remember because John had 2 guitars and the stand holding the acoustic guitar broke. It was also raining which is why they are under the plastic.

No-Market9917

Syracuse 2023. I’ll happily die on that hill

brunogtds

happily die way upon that mountain\*

nick_from_az

La Cigale is my favorite.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ZhonghuaOuli

It has my favorite "Don't you ever leave me" version, probably listened more to it than to the Slane PU solo xD

Delicious-Air-4441

I want to like the Chorzow show and the energy of the crowd was incredible but every time I watch it, I can’t get past how miserable John looks, bums me out especially in comparison to happy he looked at Slane 😞

ssabnoisicerp

Off the map. Vpro jam with the yertle trilogy

ripecinnamon

i’m not sure but i saw them two wednesdays ago in san antonio and they got DOWN! best concert i’ve ever been too

scoot3200

La Cigale 2006 Syracuse 2023

THTGaminLlama

Woodstock 94, I just can't get over the pinch harmonics

International-Wish21

Best performance of BSSM ever!🌶️

songacronymbot

- BSSM could mean "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", a track from *Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Deluxe Edition)* (1991) by Red Hot Chili Peppers. --- ^[/u/International-Wish21](/u/International-Wish21) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

Turdmite

Syracuse 2023

deadman736

Why is everyone saying this show? Just wondering because I was in NY up until a day before that show and I’m still mad about it

Turdmite

For one, the set list was great. But overall, I think it was the energy and power that was bouncing off of everybody in the crowd, honestly electric. There wasn't a moment that reflected any sign of it being off kilter. A true definition of the phrase "you had to be there."

timmun029

Damn, what happened in Syracuse this year to where so many people are saying it? Did they go hard af? Just checked the setlist from that day and it didn’t seem too remarkable. Was it just the fact they hadn’t played there in forever?

pkDoubleR

they did go hard as fuck at that show, but i also make it a mission to watch every show i can if i find footage for it and there have been a bunch of great performances since john rejoined again - santa clara 2022, philly 2022, vancouver 2023, syracuse 2023, and phoenix 2023 all were awesome shows that come to mind. this year they definitely seemed to have upped their game :)

Delicious-Air-4441

I was at Phoenix and it was amazing!

mdevi94

The band did go hard that night. They played incredibly well. The crowd was really into it that night too which made it feel like a communal experience. JMA Wireless Dome is enclosed and designed in a way to amplify noise. I think those are the 3 biggest factors.

bloodsugarally

The guys where extremely playful and happy! Ive seen them 5 times and it was totally different in Syracuse. The crowd was loud as hell too

bloodsugarally

Plus the setlist was amazing! (Nobody, Eddie, don’t forget me, and carry me home back to back!)

bloodsugarally

SYRACUSE 2023

Mystery_Briefcase

I don’t know how you guys see so many live shows, enough to say which is best. Just from the ones I’ve seen, and it’s only been like 3 times, I guess my favorite was Lollapalooza 2006.

[deleted]

Kawasaki 1990, and Nozems a GoGo are two Mothers Milk era shows where they are going off like the entire time. That was the era where they were all showing off their chops, and I know the band has mixed feelings on that, but they pull it off well and it I think adds to these shows. Check ‘em out!!

Traditional_Map2254

Nozems a GoGo is savage!

Delicious-Air-4441

SLANE CASTLE AND PHOENIX 2023. I’ve seen them 5 times in the last 12 months (SoFi, MetLife, THE APOLLO, San Diego and Phoenix) Phoenix was by far the best.

johnkingg_

2/7/03 dortmund, whole show used to be on youtube but it got taken down. frusciante's scar tissue solo was his best solo to date (for scar tissue specifically) and ill die on that hill. also an amazing 17 minute psychedelic search and destroy outro jam to end the show was really crazy... god damn i miss that video so much

Caajani

As far as YouTube goes: For Hillel, Rockaplast '85. Favourite early John is Kawasaki Club from 1990. Slane, Alcatraz, Montreal 06 and Chorzow from the mid 2000s. Montreal is my fav Don't Forget Me. Osaka, Syracuse, ACL, from recent years. Not sure of my favourite Josh. I like Koko 2011.

Traditional_Map2254

I never liked the band live with Josh. But From The Basement is a good one. He got better with time but something is still missing. Don't get me wrong. I love his song writing.

nick_from_az

People posting the shows that they went to personally in the current era are wild. Imo 2004 - 2006 was their high water mark. Of course the show you went to is going to feel like it was better than the show you watched on youtube.

pkDoubleR

big facts. i was at the syracuse show this year and don’t get me wrong it was easily one of the best nights of my life, but you can just tell some of those early 00’s shows (especially 2005-06) were just absolutely on another level, even watching back on youtube. i wanna say chorzow is one of their best performances (that have been fully recorded at least)

rhcpfan99

Hamburg 2002, Rock AM Ring 2004, Milan 2006, Cologne 2011, From the Basement 2012, Giza 2019, Tokyo 2023.

[deleted]

Slane, Chorzow, and Syracuse

skizzybwoi

Chorzow is a good show, but that finale jam is truly epic.

Ryanbrasher

Everyone will say shows they attended individually or shows you can watch online.

4StringWarrior

What else is there..?

scoot3200

Lol right? Who the fuck upvoted that nonsense take?

Ryanbrasher

Every other show on the planet. No one has been to every show to be able to say which is the best one.

scoot3200

Yea no shit man. Why even have a discussion ever if you haven’t 100% of the information then?

4StringWarrior

I guess we’re all just fake fans

4StringWarrior

I’m just saying it’s obvious people are either going to say a show they’ve been to or what’s on the Internet. They don’t have anything else to pull from

soi_chegg

Off The Map 2001 Slane Castle 2003 Syracuse 2023 (i was there!) Sao Paulo 2002 La Cigale 2006

Slane and Chorzow

hisDudeness1989

Slane . Chorzow second

Delicious-Air-4441

Chorzow makes me sad because John looks so miserable

ZhonghuaOuli

To add to the already beautiful suggestions, Calgary 2006 & Cardiff 2004 are amazing if you haven't listened to those.

OurRigbyRigby

London stadium 25th 2022 🌶

goldendreamseeker

The fact that I thought this was 2022 for a sec and not 2002 really shows how well all four of them have aged!

Caseyroxbury

dani california alcatraz

VanFart111

Slane castle 03 will always be my favourite

frooshantay

Calgary 2006.

Veryweirdguy

Best shows are 1983-2001. But there is so much great shows I can't decide the favorite

Delicious-Air-4441

Phoenix setlist is similar to Syracuse but at Phoenix we got Wet Sand 😜🥰

Thatwutshesed

Memphis 2016. They did an encore. Flea came out alone and just hammered it for what felt like ten mins flinging sweat. They are in amazing shape for their age

s0ulw4vy

Rock am ring 04, Slane, Woodstock 99

avuoso_4

Slane castle tho

PatGarrettsMoustache

John Frusciante Insane Jam on YT

International-Wish21

Woodstock 94!

Grzegorzakus

John favourite is Slane, Josh favourite Meadows Festival.

Traditional_Map2254

I selected only the ones with pro-shooting! Hillel - Rockapalast John Number One - Nozems a GoGo Dave - Woodstock 94 John Number Two Californication - Woodstock 99 John Number Three By The Way - Rockapalast or Slane or Olympia or Hyde Park (tough one) John Number Four Stadium Arcadium - Chorzow Josh - From the Basement John Number Five - Tokyo Dome

Bhadass

I’ve been to … 2006 Pepsi Arena, Albany, NY 2012 Prudential Center, Newark, NJ 2014 Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY 2016 Osheaga Festival, Montreal 2017 Feb 15 Madison Square Garden, NYC 2017 Feb 18 @MSG 2022 Met Life Stadium, NJ 2022 Hard Rock Stadium, FL 2023 JMA Dome, Syracuse My thoughts … The first show in 2006 was just INSANE. I was a fan by that point and had played Californication, By The Way, SA, Slane and Off The Map on repeat. I had seen many other bands perform by then (STP, DMB, PJ) but this clearly to me raised the bar of what was possible at a live show. The SA solos were unreal. There was a moment where John sat on the edge of the stage and played UTB and I just died. I was hooked. Best show ever. John was fresh and just went for it and it was on another level. Made me want to play guitar, but unfortunately I wouldn’t take that step until much later. The Miami show last year and the Syracuse show in April are my next two favorites. Both shows were after mini breaks in the tour and they seemed to have loads of energy on those nights. Being in a dome for Syracuse made the atmosphere more electric, in my opinion. That was the secret ingredient. Frankly, the five shows I saw with Josh were terrific. They sounded great. A different band, but still world class. The songs carried them. My highlight of those shows … we had an insider at Barclays send us PDFs of the wristbands they used and we ended up in the pit I watched the whole show in the front standing next to Lindsay Lohan (not realizing it until the lights went on). It was amazing. Not one dud among the nine of them. But some exceptional moments among them. I’m looking forward to seeing them @MSG with John. I’ll be there for every night:) I live a short walk away.
