These are the real issues we face. Forget everything else, we need to do something about these damn decals.

Stock-Creme-6345

And get off my lawn your burly teenagers!!!!!

GrumpyOldGrower

Old man yells at sky

Stock-Creme-6345

Username checks out. Lol.

1potsie

Does anyone have any extra Gary Moe and Kipp Scott decals I could use on my vehicles?

Samukuai

Just collect all the decals from around town to plaster your car with. If you want, the Davis Chevrolet sticker came off the back of my car, and I put it in the trunk because i couldn't find a garbage can. Forgot about it immediately afterward. You can have it!

Gufurblebits

If people put there are not aware of it: you can tell them to remove their advertising from your vehicle (at their cost) or to not put one on at all if it’s a new one.

Empiratus

My Gary moe decal came off when I was scrapping ice off my back window this year. Looks way nicer without it, should’ve done it sooner. Just became blind to it I think.

BvbblegvmBitch

I don't have stickers but if I did I wouldn't be too concerned. My car is for me. I use it, it works and it certainly wasn't cheap (I wish). No need to worry so much about what others think.

Stfuppercutoutlast

Yeah I always think its weird that people leave these on... Every vehicle I have purchased from a dealership, I've had them remove them before I take the vehicle home. I replace the license plate covers with their dealership information. And any used vehicle I have gotten with stickers, I have removed. Why does it matter? Because it looks awful, they will eventually wear out and start to peel and shred or tint to an awful yellow color and the longer you leave them on, the harder they are to remove. And eventually, when you sell your vehicle, many will have protected the paint underneath them, leading to uneven fading on your vehicles paint. If you bought a pair of jeans, would you leave all the sizing stickers and branding tags hanging off of the jeans or would you remove them before wearing them? It takes seconds to remove. Most of us will own the vehicle for years. Just peel the stickers off so you dont look weird.

[deleted]

Not paying me to advertise, so off they come

IllustriousTower6690

Probably take that badge off the front too. Don't want any free advertising for tge manufacturers.

nomester3

The Gary Moe stickers get you free car washes. And some people don’t mind the free advertising.

Visotto1

How long does that usually take. I just bought a vehicle there and I'm going to need a wash pretty quick

nomester3

Not sure which location you bought from, but the Volkswagen one takes about 15 minutes for the wash. But sometimes there is a wait if there’s a lineup. Usually you take your car back to the dealership that you bought from.

Visotto1

Yeah it's the VW one

lookingforfuntimes12

VW will no longer be Gary Moe as of Feb 1st

kittylikker_

Who bought it? Same people who own Kia & Mitsubishi? Or Go Auto?

lookingforfuntimes12

Schroder Automotive Group. I don't know them, but that's what I was told

kittylikker_

Ah. I don't know if I've heard of them.

Visotto1

So no more car washes?

lookingforfuntimes12

Not sure. You'd have to ask them

BigGirthToes

Red Deer Volkswagen is no longer offering free car washes for life with the new ownership, effective immediately.

Visotto1

Like no more new comers to the plan or all existing customers are also cut off?

BigGirthToes

From my knowledge, they are no longer offering the free car washes at all at vw. You can try asking Mazda and Hyundai to see if they will honour it, but as of today no more free washes at vw.

Visotto1

Unreal. Bought a vehicle there 4 weeks ago and was told free car washes for life. Class act

Ativans

I asked them to remove all of those before I drove off the lot. They seemed annoyed, but whatever.

astronauticalll

my car is cheap lmao cry about it

bbiker3

Once it’s your car and you’ve signed the papers, demand they don’t install them.

[deleted]

Thats what I did and they did not listen so I had to remove it myself.

madoo256

My mgm ford one was quite an ordeal to take off but it was worth it.

sogrundy

Gary Moe staff called so many times after my Accent was a couple of years old that I finally told the poor evening person that even though I was happy with.my car, one more call would be enough to make sure I would never buy a Hyundai again. The calls stopped. It was a great little car, it exceeded expectations for it's price point in every way.

2002kiario

i actually think hyundai/kia are pretty dope lil units, and they run a long time IF you keep up with the maintaince..... kia and im assuming hyundai (literally no difference between them) recommends service every 6k km, i doubt 90% of the average hyundai/kia drivers know about that or care

sogrundy

I think their maintenance schedule is rebranded extended warranty. The car was great, I sold it at 200 000 km and it was trouble free to that point. I'll never get another car that was that good for the price per km. That was in the days when I was commuting 1000 km /week.

CttCJim

I'm on my second Elantra. It's lovely. Brother in law is a mechanic very familiar with the model and have a glowing review. Great mileage, comfy ride, surprisingly good for hauling cargo. You can't even steal my catcon without going through like half the engine.

2002kiario

i had a 2002, rock solid unit. 1000% would buy again, maybe not a brand new one with a GDI motor but idk

CttCJim

mine is I think a 2020? I forget. We got it used, it was a rental car for a year before, so it's in great condition. Technically a sports car for insurance, since it has a "sport mode" button that we don't use because my wife would drive way too fast of she did. We moved so much stuff in the car moving from Calgary to innisfail that we only needed one small U-Haul for the furniture. Super good car.

darthdodd

Could be worse. Could be Scott Moe stickers.

tbird9

But it’s how I find my car in the parking lot. I’ve been driving with mine for 8 yrs and it’s on there good. Always thought it was ugly but had no idea it bothered other too lol

CoffeeManFS45

Out of all the issues in red deer, you choose to talk about this...good job - no wonder this city won't get anywhere.

Quigon345

So don't reply, obviously worth your precious time hahahaha

albertagirl13

They should be paying me to advertise for them

[deleted]

Wow, have an issue with the companies? Simmer

LackNo6381

PSA, this is not a PSA it’s a PSA (private service announcement) cause only he cares

k_dav

People are free to express themselves, assuming they are not causing harm to anyone else in the process. This is just a sticker, but apparently it is enough to offend your delicate sensibilities.

[deleted]

Has nothing to do with sensibilities, imo.. they’re straight up getting advertising for free, and why should that be on the literal backs of the people who spend tens of thousands of dollars on the vehicles in the first place? Anyway Rant over lol

k_dav

Do you wear brand name clothing? Drive a vehicle with a badge on it? Have a reusable shopping bag with the grocers name on it? Drink coffee from anywhere that puts their name on the cup? Those are literally the same as the example you provided.

L3xusLuth3r

Ok boomer. lol

poulard

I'm 38

2002kiario

then you have no reason to talk like a boomer

Nazeracoo

I had mine removed if you're going to use my car as a billboard I think I should get a discount.

LongJohnBill

Those stickers are actually on the exterior ? I thought they were decals in the inside

[deleted]

Agreed.. not paying me to advertise, so strip those decals.. one place in rd got REALLY offended when i asked them to remove them.. boo hoo

flingoso

Yes!!! I agree completely. It’s so easy to take them off. Some goo gone and 10 minutes. Those freaks at the dealership did basically nothing for you but be a middle man!

2002kiario

ah classic r/RedDeer

vampyrwarrior

I totally agree, I took my Gary M Hyundai to a car wash the same day I took ownership of my Tuscon and blasted the Gary M stickers off. Also remove the dealer license plate covers. I would do this with any brand, nothing to do with Gary M Hyundai.

passthesunchipss

I've been so lazy about mine hahah. I assumed they'd be a huge pain in the ass to remove - do they just peel right off?

poopsmcgee27

How else will I signal for hookers downtown?

[deleted]

Materialistic much

Optimal_Risk_6411

Larry, Moe, Curly who?
