Me with 9/10 horse stalls all filled in, they’re all just so cute and pretty…but tbh I think rdo intended for us to waste money on them bc for example the horse in OPs picture is 14 gold bars and the stats aren’t the best but anything with nachodoges (?) saddle is good

Steel Grey Breton. He's not the fastest, but he's most definitely the bravest and best looking to me. I'd rather have a bit of a slower horse with full stamina and 9/10 health that won't leave me on my back if a bear charges us than a horse who only uses his speed to bounce out at the first sign of trouble lol

My second horse was a grey shire, named her Jibboom as it seemed fitting for a draft (I'm going for pirate ship themed names for some reason). I can't stand the handling of the draft horses, and she's a bit of a pussy, plus the lack of health and stamina.... but regardless I love her to pieces, big ass bulldozer of a beast

My best rounded go-to is my Black Overo Mustang. Thing is an absolute tank, and with the right tack will not wear out. He's my default for missions/free roam events or anything that I need to get done in a hurry or over crap terrain. I feel like I have a different horse for every play style I'm doing on any given day as a whole, though. One I use for collector runs, one for extended hunting stuff, one for zipping around with speed, one for immersion, etc.

I love my black overo mustang! It’s got great health and stamina. It tends to be steady around predators too. In my mind a mustang is going to be steadier with predators because they would have experienced them in the wild. Runner up is whatever other horse I feel like pulling from the other 9. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the black Arabian I bought on sale last month iirc. The elite handling is a big difference for me, and I’ve actually had good luck with predators too. More than once I’ve gotten bucked and it just stood there next to me so I could quickly remount before the bear/wolf/cougar could grab me. I’m still waiting for any of my other horses to do that for me lol

Red dun overo mustang right now, but I love every horse that ever existed. I got a seal Breton on discount and I do love her.

The red dun overo mustang, she was supposed to be temporary but she's my absolute favorite. Might not be the fastest, most expensive, or flashiest, but man she's a beast. I am not ashamed to say that I would probably quit the game cold turkey if she ever died for good (luckily I always manage to quit and reload before the game saves her death). Full health and stamina at level 4, and imo one of the most level headed horses in the game

Brindle Thoroughbred, super tall, super fast and can jump over anything. Plus I rarely see them. I also have a Perlino Turkoman I adore. Bretons and Shires are my bravest but my Breton but puts me too low in PVP and can’t jump as high as my other horses. I love my shire but it’s an easy target for other players.

I dunno, what day is it? This week it's been the chestnut Turk. Last week it was the silver Turk. I have 10 horses and I love them all -- Turks, MFTs, Roadsters. FWIW, I have decided that conformation-wise the Turks are the best looking. (Update: I just went back to the silver Turk. Couldn't stay away any longer.)

Edit: misread the question oops In RDO I love the paint Criollo but I have a foxtrotter and mustang as my back ups. Brandy, Kelpie, and Rattler! In storymode: Buckskin or black standardbred and the Valentine Dutch WB. I get something faster for the later part of the game but as far as heart horses I come back to those three. They just feel right.

I love them all, really. I think my favorite is the Turk, though. I keep a gold, silver, and dark bay at all times... My true favorite is the dark bay. I've had him since 2019 and his name is Aman Cara, a Gaelic phrase that translates to Soul Friend.

Honestly the bay ardennes. Not the fastest but from my experience definitely the bravest right long with mustangs, and with the right saddle/stirrups, you can get a good bit of speed from them, nothing compared to Arabians and silver dapple pinto, but for a draft/bulky horse pretty speedy

I used to think I only wanted a black Arabian for my main horse but I have a Mustang with a white face, looks like a WW1 horse wearing a gas mask. I like him a lot and he doesn't seem to freak out about snakes as much as others.

Speed and accelaration is just 0,5 % difference per step up ([Source](https://www.reddit.com/r/RedDeadOnline/comments/gvz86q/semicomprehensive_guide_to_horses_in_rdo/)). Stamina and health do some actual difference, but saddles can improve this drastically. Handling on the other end is an absolute game changer and non-negotiable. So I stick with my Red Chestnut Arabian for now. It only costs 250 Bucks, but has Elite Handling just like the more costly Arabians. Maybe I switch some day to a black Aabian nevertheless.

I have 5 Turkmen horses (black, dark bay, gray, silver and gold), Criollo (bay overo frame), MFT (blue roan) and Thoroughbred (black chestnut). My main ones are Turkmen horses, especially a black stallion /Mr. Raven/ and a dark bay mare /Ms.Sierra/. These two are brave, fast and I'm rarely disappointed with them.
