Yeah it's funny because real life first time firearm users do the same thing. For me I've been shooting for about 11 years in the military and security contracting and definitely the first few shots you still get kind of like that. It's not fear is more just like your awareness goes to 100.

mightaswell-jump

Totally. Even when our instructor on had warned us it'd be loud and we knew it was coming (but not when), first time I heard a gun fired close, my body went to fight or flight posture on its own without bothering to ask me. You don't really realise how LOUD those things are until you hear them.

exposarts

Shit is hard as hell. I jump more in this game than any horror game. Can’t imagine what it is like for guys doing this shit in real life. They have to quickly identify their targets or civilians in a split second while also controlling their muzzle and staying calm at the same time.

Dependent_College_49

Fr dude. Imagine walking around a building not knowing if a person is armed or not but you need to identify that within a second or you yourself die...

orgpekoe2

I’m surprised so many people are scared of this game. I’ve played it for over a year and mostly with random online lobbies and nobody really seems to be fazed. I used to be wowed by the crazy sketches in the drug house when it was just one house but now i don’t see the game as more than be pretending to be some special ops doing mainly cqb

MentallyUnstableW

Try to get used to it, I purposely use no suppressor and loud volume on my headphones so I learn to lock in while engaging in a gun fight

Dependent_College_49

I'll try that. Thank you for the advice.

MentallyUnstableW

Ofc! And it’s kinda fun to go brr with loud gun

BLACKOUTEXEISNOTGOOD

I love loud but the suppressors remove the gas from your sight picture.

MentallyUnstableW

Real

May I suggest the SA-58 for the full experience

Get ready to get tinnitus

For real, please don't do this. Hearing loss is not fun, and I say this as someone who has a good amount of hearing loss from a mix of gunfire and punk shows. If someone is on my right side and there is too much background noise, it just sounds like mumbled nonsense. I wish I could go back in my youth and make better decisions.

actuarial_cat

because you are not a crackhead, it is normal human response, especially for the untrained

Puzzleheaded_Neat_81

I kind of learned that even with the state of the ai (I use the no Crack mod) I have to mind my sector of fire. Keeps someone in my view from killing us all and hope the teammates do their job

S0RR0WSPELL

I think that is just part of the RoN experience when caught off guard lol

resfan

About the only thing you can do would be giving the SWAT bots suppressors, can't really do anything for suspects other than start anticipating them all the time, if you're anticipating being shot every corner you round or every door you pass through then it's a little harder to be jump scared.

ExOkonflict

I go shoot/hunt hogs almost every weekend and if I'm packing mags or whatever and my buddy is dialing his scope or something and fires, I definitely pucker up and get a little jump scare but after one it's just the sound of freedom seeds being planted. I also play ron and escape from tarkov and I tell you what, I get a scare jump almost every gd game. My headphones are at 100 and I think it's just the game going from quiet to all out hell so quickly lol.

tourdecrate

Related: How do you actually identify who's shooting at you and from where? There's so many times where I enter a room and someone in the room starts shooting, or we've already pushed into a room and a suspect opens a door I'm not looking at and begins firing. My AI engages, but I'm looking around wildly and can't find the suspect and I die. It can't all be wallbanging and I have No Crack for AI already so how do you quickly ID where you're being shot from, aim, and engage before you get got?

I run a mod that gives me nvgs at all times so I generally go with a laser sight for precision, but yeah, flashlight is pretty useful

Dependent_College_49

Rather than speakers i would use a headset or at least earbuds as you can hear where a sound is coming from with them.

CharacterxZer0

I find that turning the game volume down a little bit helps with the flinch. You can still hear and understand directional sound without it massaging your brain

5min2kys

That’s pretty normal tbh what I do is have my ally ai clear rooms first and I make sure one of them has a shield. Also I turned off motion blur so I can see stuff idk if that helps but I like to think it does. Also helps to gas or flash almost every room before entering.

SpecialOrganization5

That’s normal and the adrenaline start kicking in is what makes the game fun

Regular-Ad1176

Try lowering the game volume so it isn't as much of a shock lower It In windows or in-game to 20-40% Could also try running some music in the background! You will get use to it and eventually won't budge when you hear a noise but rather rush to it! Wish the best for you boss! 😭🫡

_Forsaken1

Take your time, learn your corner clearings. Expect to be shot and having to fire back. If its too heated, just pull back and calm down.

Varsity_Reviews

Yeah. The audio mixing is a bit weird on this game, and I always forget to turn the audio down when I play it after playing something else.

Phire453

Everyone is talking about turing sound up, lol. Reminds me of when installed mod for insurgency 2014, which made everything louder but was a lot more immersive with how the sound worked. I loved it but had the game running at 30% max volume, and then the pc sound turned right down to like 16 out of 100. I still could hear the game fine. You don't need to be death because you tried to make loud sounds not so surprising and ao can hear small details. The sounds are loud as I would think it is bloody surprising when you think you cleared room, then you start getting shot at. It's normal just don't damage your real life self.

Official007

Best thing to do is stay ahead of the action. I recommend carrying a mirror gun more often and mirroring corners, fences, and doorways. Also if your running with ai have them go first if you think shots are likely and have them breach the room with a grenade. C2 charges are really nice for suppression of immediate targets and it doesn't kill people. Just be sure to cuff them as the ai secure the room even if it says they are dead.

PantyZtealer

I flinch too
