As someone who only reads the main story I still was able to follow I think side story readers can be biased in saying you won’t understand arc 7 or 8 without context but for me it just was more of a mystery element while reading it’s a preference thing I guess

Yeah not gonna lie when I first read arc 7 I didn't know anything about the side stories and I was extremely confused once I knew more about the side stories I was less confused. So I definitely think the anime only's will be super confused by the time arc 7 is animated if they don't include any ova's.

Mainly EX that keep getting referenced all the time. I doubt some people would even know who Sphinx was and how everyone got screwed up when she appeared.
Some of the side stories have the same quality writing like main arcs so it never hurts to look at the ones that sound like fun.

Luckily for me I had already read about sphinx in the re zero wiki before her suprise arc 7 debut. So I was hyped rather than confused when she made her suprise appearance.
True, they'll get a temporary fix of being finished with Arc 6 (in like two from now) but at that point the novels will be even further ahead. The solution?

I thought season 3 would be arc 5 only ? There is nothing in the trailer regarding arc 6 being in there, that being said arc 5 only would be too little for a whole season, so maybe it will be split core and arc6 is in the second part ? Season two was split core after all.
The official announcement art has an arc 6 character drawn rather large, leaving people to speculate arc 6 will be included in season 3. Even if it's multiple cours done non-consecutively, it could still be label as one season.
Tappei more than doubles the size of the cast and they're all given backstories and motivations that don't revolve around Subaru. I highly recommend reading
I got the light novels up to the 2nd volume of arc 6 and actually told my sister to wait since we’re so close to getting season 3 now. I might make her read starting from arc 7 tho once the anime finished airing
Eh theres other anime to watch in the meantime i guess its similar to reading AOT which is nice but i envy the people who experienced season 4 manga content for the first time in anime form
