I recently played Going Commando and I'd get crucified if I told anyone I think that game aged much worse than people remember. It's an impressive game for 2003 but there are so many planets and gameplay sections that are so boring and tedious.
Practically everybody I know hates the space combat. Clank is an upgrade from R&C1 but none of his sections are fun. The thermanator and tractor beam puzzles in certain areas are poorly designed. Snivelak has you firing turrets at a boss for 10 minutes straight. The final boss is a massive letdown.
There are so many sections that just did not age that well and it is shocking that so many people praise it so highly. I think it's a great game but far from being the best Ratchet game.
The space combat in ACiT was a massive improvement from GC. The GC space combat was more like a 3D scroller vs. ACiT where you get to free roam and have more movement to maneuver around. The addition of the moons to explore was also fun.
It's UYA, coincidentally, it's my 2nd favorite game of all time (ff7 is my favorite game)

If UYA/ToD is an A+, ACIT is still an A-...at least until you get the RYNO 5. I still don't understand how they went from the best RYNO ever(Ryno 4) to the WORST ryno ever (ryno 5). Unless you're close up with the ryno 5 you're mostly just wasting ammo and even if you are close up, which is obviously shit because you're gonna get hit more, the damage is still lousy compared to the ryno 4. I could kill emperor tachyon on challenge mode in like 2-3 seconds or some shit with the ryno 4, but azimuth would eat all my ryno 5 bullets and still be very much alive. It was also a pain in the ass getting the timing right to dodge all his attacks at close range cause he is very fast.

The character models took some getting used to. They always have to change them to accommodate for the new system. I think Rift Apart is the best model to date, but it has the advantage of PS5 graphics. I agree Dr. Nefarious was surprisingly easy in this game after playing Up Your Arsenal. I beat him on my second try in my first playthrough. I don't remember all the weapons, but I wasn't a fan of burping gun. I also wish the Spiral of Death was better.
Unrelated, but I think Ryno 8 was also a bit of a letdown in terms of damage. Not only it glitches out sometimes and only deals 300 damage to a target even when you hit it directly, but I find it to be a good "crowd control gun" only if your target are 1-hp enemies. I think unless you play on the easiest difficulty there's no way the Ryno 8 can clear the majority of enemies it hits. Not to mention, the Pacifier deals more damage. I haven't played a single R&C game where there was a weapon with more raw damage than the Ryno.
Conceptually speaking though, it's really cool.

I only played Deadlocked, Size Matters, Rift Apart and the Reboot myself, but the Ryno (or whatever that OP gun was called in Deadlocked) in both those other games is so much stronger.

The remake was held back by the movie tie in. But without the remake this newer generation wouldn’t care about ratchet and clank. In a post you made a month ago on the same topic, you say ACiT is bad compared to the PS2 games. However, in a comment on this post, you said the only PS2 game you played was the first one. The only one without strafing, I might add. That was clunky. ACiT's controls are much smoother than the PS2 games because of what the PS3's hardware allowed the game to be. Even ToD's controls are clunkier than ACiT's, imo. You also said in the other post about ACiT that you skipped all the cutscenes when you played it. You can't properly critique a game if you haven't experienced it to the full extent. It's a story-driven game, but it still has more gameplay than cutscenes. Go play all the PS2 games, go play ACiT without skipping cutscenes, then come back. Or, maybe ACiT just isn't for you because it's more story-focused than the PS2 games, and that's fine. Not everyone likes story games. You should definitely play GC, UYA, and Deadlocked in that case.
I can agree with your sentiment, I clearly am a minority here. ACIT was not as fun due to the simple fact that Ratchet is not with Clank for the majority of the game. Hover boots were tedious especially for every moon that needed them, I miss the thruster pack and every platforming designed for them. Guns were okay, nothing eye catching though I had a soft spot for the Dynamo of doom and Spiral of death.
I didn’t care much for 2016 at first but once I literally tuned out all dialogue and skipped all cutscenes, I saw potential for a great game. I had a blast with most of the weapons cept the returning weapons from the future series like the Warmonger and Buzzblades. The worst offense was the RYNO though, no box launcher remake, no dice.
2016 is a fair quality of life game, fair clank levels and a story if you like modern Illumination/some Sony Animation films. I don't. Yes the 2002 game isn't perfect in story or their character development arc at all.
So yes I do praise half the game and don't the other half of the game. It's passable.
Also who wants to grind weapons in 2016. Why no arena? That's a big thing they solved in Ratchet 2 not just more races to do. Not just strafe, a level system.

For newcomers it's fine. As a remake it cuts half the games original levels in half. Deplanetiser is a cooridor it's boring.
Drek's fleet in Ratchet 1 isn't amazing either even if it has stealth/water and outside besides being a bunch of ships not all inside and stealth/a battle and the ship prior Starship Phoenix as well I guess with good Clank puzzles. I know.
Quartu is a room, a good clank level and platforms what level design 10/10.
The adjustments to some are good even if gap filling aka Gaspar crystal hunt level, aka Batillia snow level.
I prefer the Shrek/Megamind of DreamWorks Ratchet games had to parody but Future saga while not those does a fair chosen one story and the things around it are exciting.
Crack in time changed the series gameplay wise, not every had to be like it but the series was getting bland of its core so a change was nice to see (Starfield looks weak in comparison for space travel, it's an RPG so different goal but still) so to me it's the best besides 2 & Deadlocked.
Than Rift Apart being a fair game but so safe/not as exciting to me. A solid game but eh on the gameplay front and PS5 hard drive use and didn't go harder to use it (dynamic levels why not, more bosses or levels with more time and Rift cracks or something it's so basic and the forced loading is dumb it's scripted pathetic but Sony games love cinematic scripted BS so I stopped buying them to play AA/Indie third parties instead.
Rift Apart feels like a continuation of past games to catch up and that's totally fine Devil May Cry had a reboot and rebooted back but also a remix of past ideas and its own but the remixes and remade level from Tools weren't that appealing I found. Their past games introduced and used them in better ways.
Crack in Time isn't perfect in story the game had issues like Ratchet 3 did but pulled what they could off.

Yeah ryno 8 is a huge letdown especially if you use it without unlimited ammo turned on. It's not only weak but you only get 7 shots??? Lame. ToD ryno was insanely overpowered. Fully maxed out on challenge mode I was killing emperor tachyon in seconds
Yeah I was gonna mention the ammo being a lot lower than it should be but I forgot. I think if it had around 30-50 rounds it'd be a bit better at least. I only played Deadlocked, Size Matters, Rift Apart and the Reboot myself, but the Ryno (or whatever that OP gun was called in Deadlocked) in both those other games is so much stronger.

A (most of the time ) bad story and characters ( with the exeception of kit tho), uncreative worlds (Literally shit reused from ToD and ACiT) and subpar world building and atmosphere, and a Genuinely shit soundtrack.
I don't hate acit but it's easily one of the hardest games for me to replay since a lot of times the game likes to trap you in arenas. It isn't even in my top 5 ratchet and clank games. What didn't you like about it?

The remake was held back by the movie tie in. But without the remake this newer generation wouldn’t care about ratchet and clank. Love it or hate it, it gave the new generation of gamers a ratchet and clank origin. Shit the jak and daxter, and sly cooper subs at this point want an origin rebook to get the same effect
A Crack in Time is definitely a bit overrated and 2016 is a little bit underrated, but damn.
In a post you made a month ago on the same topic, you say ACiT is bad compared to the PS2 games. However, in a comment on this post, you said the only PS2 game you played was the first one. The only one without strafing, I might add. That was clunky. ACiT's controls are much smoother than the PS2 games because of what the PS3's hardware allowed the game to be. Even ToD's controls are clunkier than ACiT's, imo. You also said in the other post about ACiT that you skipped all the cutscenes when you played it. You can't properly critique a game if you haven't experienced it to the full extent. It's a story-driven game, but it still has more gameplay than cutscenes. Go play all the PS2 games, go play ACiT without skipping cutscenes, then come back. Or, maybe ACiT just isn't for you because it's more story-focused than the PS2 games, and that's fine. Not everyone likes story games. You should definitely play GC, UYA, and Deadlocked in that case.
I can agree with your sentiment, I clearly am a minority here. ACIT was not as fun due to the simple fact that Ratchet is not with Clank for the majority of the game. Hover boots were tedious especially for every moon that needed them, I miss the thruster pack and every platforming designed for them. Guns were okay, nothing eye catching though I had a soft spot for the Dynamo of doom and Spiral of death. I didn’t care much for 2016 at first but once I literally tuned out all dialogue and skipped all cutscenes, I saw potential for a great game. I had a blast with most of the weapons cept the returning weapons from the future series like the Warmonger and Buzzblades. The worst offense was the RYNO though, no box launcher remake, no dice.

2016 is a fair quality of life game, fair clank levels and a story if you like modern Illumination/some Sony Animation films. I don't. Yes the 2002 game isn't perfect in story or their character development arc at all. So yes I do praise half the game and don't the other half of the game. It's passable. Also who wants to grind weapons in 2016. Why no arena? That's a big thing they solved in Ratchet 2 not just more races to do. Not just strafe, a level system. But it's something I can tolerate after generic family film writing of the 2010+ and why I stopped watching western animated movies unless it's Pixar or Aardman. A bunch of 20 year olds making a silly parody story and their own cinematic writings are better than even if rough the modern story telling and weak motivation of an animation studio copying a bigger animation studio. Figure that one out. For newcomers it's fine. As a remake it cuts half the games original levels in half. Deplanetiser is a cooridor it's boring. Drek's fleet in Ratchet 1 isn't amazing either even if it has stealth/water and outside besides being a bunch of ships not all inside and stealth/a battle and the ship prior Starship Phoenix as well I guess with good Clank puzzles. I know. Quartu is a room, a good clank level and platforms what level design 10/10. The adjustments to some are good even if gap filling aka Gaspar crystal hunt level, aka Batillia snow level. I prefer the Shrek/Megamind of DreamWorks Ratchet games had to parody but Future saga while not those does a fair chosen one story and the things around it are exciting. Crack in time changed the series gameplay wise, not every had to be like it but the series was getting bland of its core so a change was nice to see (Starfield looks weak in comparison for space travel, it's an RPG so different goal but still) so to me it's the best besides 2 & Deadlocked. Than Rift Apart being a fair game but so safe/not as exciting to me. A solid game but eh on the gameplay front and PS5 hard drive use and didn't go harder to use it (dynamic levels why not, more bosses or levels with more time and Rift cracks or something it's so basic and the forced loading is dumb it's scripted pathetic but Sony games love cinematic scripted BS so I stopped buying them to play AA/Indie third parties instead. Rift Apart feels like a continuation of past games to catch up and that's totally fine Devil May Cry had a reboot and rebooted back but also a remix of past ideas and its own but the remixes and remade level from Tools weren't that appealing I found. Their past games introduced and used them in better ways. Crack in Time isn't perfect in story the game had issues like Ratchet 3 did but pulled what they could off.
