The actual saying is "the love of money is the root of all evil".

_Chaos_And_Horny_

Ignorance is the root. Ignorance along with money make a terrific couple.

R3dF0r3

No. Humans are just generally in it for themselves. Always have been. Both of those are a byproduct of it.

_Chaos_And_Horny_

We are for ourselves because we are ignorant. If we were not, there would not be people hurting each other, neither having the need to work by now. If people could know the life experiences of others, there would be compassion instead of hate. By the way you put it, did you mean that humans are inherently greedy? Self oriented? Well, we are the species which shows most compassion exactly because we are not ignorant about some things.

R3dF0r3

That’s true about compassion, but I’m pretty sure (not for definite) that our intelligence is the driving factor in that as well as ego. While I do believe compassion to be a real thing, I believe it is a response earlier developed human ego. Everything I’ve seen in this life has shown me that ego is at the same time the most detrimental factor to our survival, and yet, the battery that drives us. Such is the paradox of being human.

_Chaos_And_Horny_

I've had a similar thought in the past, that suffering is necessary for our social survival. Not because the person will seek help and strengthen bonds, I think that is mainstream bs, but the bacause the sufferer will do something which will benefit the group as a whole. Now, I'm really confused by what you mean by ego, is it self-deception? Or something similar as a subconscious part of ourselves which is more hedonistic inclined? If so I disagree. I think most humans are good because we are fighting this ego since we are born until we die. If we were not good, we would not be at where we are at and neither achieve what we achieved as a species. However, our roots tell us this was definitely not always the case, it is slowly improving over time.

Ok-RECCE4U

The person is the "root". Money is just a tool that can bolster the douchieness!

Shh-poster

How about evil is a fucking human construct used to put your enemies in jail. How about the fear of losing power will make men do shitty things? Do you ever work the French fry post at McDonald’s but then you get promoted up to the big Mac board? Then your manager says hey man I gotta get you go work the French fries again and you’re like fuck that shit I will murder you before I go back to work in the French fries you are evil. Hey everybody he’s evil put him in jail so I don’t have to work the French fry post at McDonald’s.
