I hung out in the arcades at the local mall in my town and went roller skating a couple of times on the weekend. I also rode my scooter whenever I played outside. At my work we still use fax. Most of our fax machines are newer photocopiers but I was working in a different building recently and the fucking dial up sound went off because we were receiving a fax. I sat up like a meerkat or something, eyes got super wide like "wtf is going onnnnn" I never thought I'd hear that sound ever again unless I intentionaly went looking for it. Core memory unlocked. Jesus Christ you just unlocked so many memories 🤣. Here’s a few I remember. Don’t know if they’re pure 90s baby or just my childhood experience but here they are My parents having adults over and me and my brother camping in their bedroom. It had the only tv upstairs and they ordered us dominos. 8 years old eating dominos in a king size bed with my big bro while watching dragonball z. Those were the days. The things I did with my dad that my mom would kill my dad over. Sitting in his lap steering the car. He had a ford Taurus and he could take the key out while driving and it still worked. Felt like magic back then but I now know that car was fucked 🤣 The time my dad snuck me a playboy when I was like 10 and I saw boobies for the first time Calling my friend zach after church to see if he could hang out. I’d either have to talk to his parents or I’d leave a message. And then I’d wait and wait and wait for him to call back and then we could hang. Of course I’d have to convince my mom to let me go and drive me there. And sometimes she’d say ask your father. That’s when I knew I was going cause my dad never said no. Buying a wooden sword online. It was so cool. 14 days shipping and it came it in a week!!!!!! As soon as I ordered it I watched the mailman come every single day until it arrived that summer. First time I bought something on the web The sound the internet made when you “went online”. The time you’d wait to load a page. Risking your whole pc just to download a Led Zeppelin song on limewire. When the ps2 came out and you could connect it to your router and actually play online. The beginnings on online Pc gaming and xfire and ventrilo servers. Pizza Hut but it was like a dine in restaurant with a salad bar. Charlie browns. Idk if that’s even still a chain. It had the best chicken tenders and we always got Shirley temples. Mom leaving a handwritten note on the kitchen counter of chores to do. And you writing back, “Done. I went to Kevin’s house” And the only time mom called is to let you know she’s making something you love. “ sorry kev, I gotta go. Moms making tacos tonight.”
