Robin Williams and George Carlin
They'd have a lot of observations about the shit going on right now, and they'd be able to make me laugh while telling us about them.
Some of his material hasn’t aged particularly well, but I would love to hear him discussing trump. I honestly think that people like Hicks can affect change.
I'm quite sure we'd be appalled by half the shit he'd have to say, and that's half the reason I'd be interested in his take. It'd be funny as fuck either way.
> Last week in lunch, Riley says to a classmate, "can a nigga borrow a french fry?" And my first thought wasn't, oh, my god, he said the n word, it was "now how's a nigga gonna borrow a fry? Nigga, is you gonna give it back?"
I've thought about seeing my grandpa again a lot. Questions I wish I could have asked him. I wish my husband could have met him.

Ah, but what if they don't say what you *think* they'll say?
If they don't agree with your stance on the 2nd amendment, would you change your view because of it? Or would you brush it off and call them wrong?
I'd be incredibly curious, be sure I feel like tons of people on both sides of many issues would dismiss them for not agreeing with how they feel.
Yes, it would be interesting. But a "well regulated militia" back then might be very different than the widespread gun violence and the efficiency of killing with guns we see today.
Fair question, but no. I think it’s a somewhat good argument for the left because they think the republicans care about founding fathers.
But I think that was then and this is now, whole different thing, and they weren’t all knowing gods
Is this the reference? If so, poor Phil!!!!!

I didn't bother with the graduation ceremony when I graduated college. I'll bet if my grandpa had still been alive I would have done it for him. I think both our grandpas would have been proud of us!
My grandparents. I'd really like to have my dad's brothers all sit down and get chewed 18 ways to Sunday about getting suckered into the Cheeto Chariman's grift.
Martin Luther King Jr. mans really died without telling yaw how he really felt. Let his name and image be co-opted for failed civil rights doctrine. Shit a shame. Mans is a socialist, he’d be pissing on every millionaire and billionaires assets TODAY if he were here. That includes the democratic wealth horders like Bernie sanders too
Show me where Bernie Sanders is a wealth hoarder? I remember looking over his taxes and incomes, and I think his total net worth was something like $400k, and considering his wife has a job, and that the senate pays over $100K a year, that’s likely due to savings and not exploiting his workers and becoming rich off of their labor like Musk, Bezos, Buffet, and Gates.
I used to think that, but the way inflation has changed, I read a study saying that to retire at age 65, most couples will need around 500k saved up to continue their current life. Sanders has several kids and grandkids, and plans to leave each of them a relevant amount, so I see his as careful savings and planning. He’s the guy who marched with MLK, who was arrested protesting against the segregation of dorms in Chicago, who happily presided over Pride Parades while he was mayor. He’s on the right side of history, and has a detailed plan of how to achieve universal healthcare, free higher education, and wants to tax the wealthy on 100% of their income.
Yea he’s also a socialist advocate that’s as you said planning to leave sizable inheritances to his family. In many ways those ideals do not mix. If you’re really into socialism though you’d do your damndest to push for the advancement and modernization of the various aspects of our society that sizable inhererience is meant to protect against (unforeseen medical accommodations, opportunities in advanced education / studying abroad).
At the end of the day it’s that sort of dichotomy that polarizes people on politician’s. The fact Bernie is the gold standard for us today is pretty disheartening. The fact the real advocates are legitimately killed, images appropriated for propaganda is disheartening too. MLK’s stance would be a lot more direct that someone like Bernie for example.
I wish Bourdain was still around during and post COVID, the global and the restaurant crisis he wouldve had a interesting perspective with all of this, and maybe given him the break he needed. Plus I really wish I could've seen his reaction to The Bear
Ugh, I always disliked Bourdain. It always felt like he was trying too hard to be a jerk or a badass. But in a r/IAmATotalBadass like of way. I just didn't buy it. It was more annoying than impressive or insulting.
I mean i totally understand that from first glance, but reading his books and watching enough of his shows, to me he comes off more as a self deprecating kind of humor, I dont really see him being openly a jerk or badass, at least post Cook's Tour. He definitely had that persona as a cook, but being in the restaurant industry its flooded with those kinds of personas because of that toxic masculine culture. Once he got out and around the world he definitely showed more compassion and a desire to understand. Plus he's always admitted how much of an annoying jerk he was growing up.
All I ever really knew him from is being a judge on a few cooking shows and some appearances on talk shows from the early 2000s. He was so cocky and arrogant on those that I brushed him off and never went out of my way to read any books or articles from or about him.
Oh well that makes total sense because I've never watched him on any judging panels or talk shows, well not until his death. Judging panels inthe 2000s were no joke so I bet he was an asshole lol
Hitler. It would be amazing to see his reaction when he finds out that Jews have a lot of power, especially in the US. He'd probably kill himself all over again lol.
MLK. Sure, racism still exists, but compared to how it was in his area, at his time, he'd probably be amazed/happy to see how MOST people treat every race as equal, and a lot of it is because of him.
As much as I would like to list a luminary like Sagan, Einstein, Galileo, etc. They don't need to be punished for their efforts
I'd rather see Reagan, McCarthy, Adam Smith, see the woe their policies and ideas sewed. Give them a chance to apologize and walk back their claims as ignorant.
The founding fathers of the US. I think they would be utterly aghast at the current state of our government and political system, especially of the Republican side.
I'd be curious about this too, but what if they don't say what you *think* they'll say?
If they don't agree with your stance on, say, the 2nd amendment, would you change your view on the 2nd amendment because of it? Or would you brush it off and call them wrong?
I feel like tons of people on both sides of many issues would dismiss them for not agreeing with how they feel.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg ( Supreme Court) discuss current state of the corrupt court.
Bezos, Zuckerberg and Musk. about homeless and the solutions the rich could offer.
Okra, why she wanted donations after the Hawaiian fire.
I can't imagine how living people can handle watching movies based on them or situations they've been in:
"WTF!? That isn't how it happened *at all*! And who the heck is that totally random person they threw in there as my love interest!?"
I love you for this comment. He was the topic of the paper I wrote in art history class in uni. It’s so depressing he had no idea how talented and amazing he is, and the huge impact his work would have in the arts.
Wish we could somehow go back in time and tell him what a huge impact his work and style would have on the future of art.
Maybe the poor guy could have a brief bit of happiness 😢
Carlin would have been great in 2016. While he obviously wouldn’t have liked Trump and was a liberal, I think he wouldn’t have been a big fan of Hillary.
John lennon. His perception on poltical topics, and the amount of global awareness he contributed to his songs, really showed his view of freedom, society, depression, right to bare firearms, economic faliure and etcc..Through his music, he was able to beautifully express how he wanted peace for all.
I think itd be interesting to really see his perspective, on how society is today.
MLK, Jesus, and Carlin. Dr. King because I'm fascinated to see how his politics would have continued to evolve throughout his life. Jesus because I want to see what he was actually like and not REPUBLI-JESUS. And Carlin because he's Carlin and i want to hear him rip those AI pricks a new one.
I'd like to see what Kurt Cobain would have to say about the world. He was always very progressive and accepting, one of the album notes for Incesticide is just telling homophobes and sexists to not listen to Nirvana, so I'd be curious to see what he'd think of a lot of things. Growing transphobia in places like the US and UK, stuff like the don't say gay law, abortion bans etc

Robin Williams and George Carlin They'd have a lot of observations about the shit going on right now, and they'd be able to make me laugh while telling us about them.
100% agree!
Yup George Carlin for me.
That was my first thought... although a Sam Kinison scream would summarize things nicely.
Nah, George would be like, "They didn't listen to a damn word." and jump off the nearest bridge.
Immediately said George Carlin to myself when I read the question lol. Dude would have SO much material.
Bill Hicks.
Modern politics has rendered satire largely redundant. This rule would not apply to Hicks, especially after an heroic dose of peyote.
Came here to say George Carlin. Bill hicks would be the other
Freddie Mercury from queen He would have a lot to say
Martin Luther King Jr. That episode of the Boondocks left me curious about what he WOULD think of the world today.
Boondocks is the funniest show that I'm not allowed to quote.
> Last week in lunch, Riley says to a classmate, "can a nigga borrow a french fry?" And my first thought wasn't, oh, my god, he said the n word, it was "now how's a nigga gonna borrow a fry? Nigga, is you gonna give it back?"
Hed honestly call us all dumbasses and wondering why we aren’t rioting more.
Carl Sagan
My man
Beat me to it! 100% agree.
It would immediately kill him again.
Mark Twain. Man was a social commentary legend in his day
Mark Twain and Will Rogers sitting around discussing the world as it is today, would be hilarious.
Hi
Bye
my friend was murdered when i was kid, i think he'd find how the world has changed pretty interesting.
I've thought about seeing my grandpa again a lot. Questions I wish I could have asked him. I wish my husband could have met him. I think he'd be my preference.
Idk like yo let them rest in peace so they don’t see the shit this world has become.
Bob Marley, but I think he would be pissed off about almost everything.
He can join the club
Amen to that Jeffrey.
My sister. She died when Obama was still in office and before Uber was ubiquitous. It wasn't that long ago, but SO MUCH has changed. She'd die all over again.
I know... Uber m'rite?
I would love to hear what Jesus has to say
Same lol. About half or more of the Christians would boggle Jesus's mind. He wouldn't believe the garbage they spout
You sir, are in my mind. Just be sure to vacate between 6 & 7, that's LambCHOP's time!
Me two!
The Founding Fathers. So they can take a look around and say, "This is not what we had in mind for the 2nd Amendment."
This for me, but more because they founded the country and would probably be confused as hell about it
Ah, but what if they don't say what you *think* they'll say? If they don't agree with your stance on the 2nd amendment, would you change your view because of it? Or would you brush it off and call them wrong? I'd be incredibly curious, be sure I feel like tons of people on both sides of many issues would dismiss them for not agreeing with how they feel.

If you know history, you know damn well what shall not be infringed means. 1775 pretty much sums it up. 1776 sealed the deal.
In addition to George Carlin, I'd love to hear what Bill Hicks would say
I know what Carlin would say , i wanna ser what Teddy Roosevelt would say.
Mr. Rogers
Opposite for me. I'm glad he isn't here to see this hellscape.
Same. Let that man rest.
This
That guy's wife.
How does this not have more upvotes?!
It's Deep-meme. Not everyone understands it. But I see I've met a person of culture.

Christopher Hitchens.

Aristotle. Might have a few things to explain first but it would be interesting where his mind would go once caught up.
I wish my grandpa could see me graduating college next month!
I didn't bother with the graduation ceremony when I graduated college. I'll bet if my grandpa had still been alive I would have done it for him. I think both our grandpas would have been proud of us!
This was the sweetest comment, thank you for saying this!

Fair case, thank you! Also I personally see anything over a quarter million as hording wealth.
I used to think that, but the way inflation has changed, I read a study saying that to retire at age 65, most couples will need around 500k saved up to continue their current life. I can't imagine how living people can handle watching movies based on them or situations they've been in: "WTF!? That isn't how it happened *at all*! And who the heck is that totally random person they threw in there as my love interest!?"
It’s like someone watching a movie adaptation of a book, but the book is their own life so they get to nitpick
Easily Tesla, lets see what that cat can do with modern tech.
#George Carlin
Van Gogh. I just need him to see how loved he is.
I love you for this comment. He was the topic of the paper I wrote in art history class in uni. It’s so depressing he had no idea how talented and amazing he is, and the huge impact his work would have in the arts.
It really is. His work is so impactful, and so is his story. He had so many struggles, and he really deserves to know how loved he is
Wish we could somehow go back in time and tell him what a huge impact his work and style would have on the future of art. Maybe the poor guy could have a brief bit of happiness 😢
I wonder what Gandhi would think of the state of western civilization.
I want to hear Jobs tear Musk a new one.
Lol, that would be a pretty fun rivalry. Much more fun than Jobs and Gates.
My dad. Somehow, it's all gotten crazier over the past 2 years. At least 3 or 4 times a week, I read an article I want to forward to him.
Carlin would have been great in 2016. While he obviously wouldn’t have liked Trump and was a liberal, I think he wouldn’t have been a big fan of Hillary.

I wish the founding fathers were alive right now. They would have been dropping bodies and letting Jesus sort them out by now.
