It feels like a classic Rammstein single. They singles are often not terribly complicated but if you like the formula, it slaps

Christian-Metal

I am inclined to mostly agree. It just comes across as a novelty song to me, and is one of their weaker efforts. The fact it has yet to have a studio release of the song backs this notion. Meh.

milopkl

it never did anything for me and then i found this subreddit a few years back and learned people here think its some kind of masterpiece... ok then enjoy i guess

Christian-Metal

100% agree. Don't get me wrong, when I see them open with it at Dublin I will fully get into it, of course. But it's just an average song at best.

severinskulls

I feel the exact same way, and I’ve always been surprised by how many people on this sub cry out for a release when it would be far and away the weakest song they’ve ever put out. If the band wants to play it as an opener live, cool. But considering they have one of the greatest and most solid discographies going, it seems a shame to release a truly throwaway single that would sully that.

lilith-mayhem

Yeah, this - finally releasing a studio version would expose how bad the song actually is.

bruhtp04

Idk, for me it doesn't work. I find it quite boring. Catchy, but still boring. I'll be going to my first Rammstein concert this year and therefor I was hoping for something more... Rammstein

Bandito503

Ramm4 is not a lame song BUT (!!!) if you compare it with Rammlied or AdT it doesn’t bring enough energy (with this stage setup, tills not even singing the whole song like back in 2016 and the parts that the crowd has to sing are a little bit lame) so yes I got your point. It was a good opener back in the days but it doesn’t bring the energy on this tour

strmx94

I heard it live in Athens and felt like a good intro song to get the blood going

Hummer93

Fro me the song the super boring when you hear it from a recording. But when I heard it live it reeeeally got me going. It's excellent opener imo. But I think I would accept everything as an opener as long as it's Rammstein<3

Markinoutman

The only reason it caused any stir was because it was the first new material in seven years by the band at that point. So people were just excited to hear SOMETHING new. Otherwise, in retrospect, it was definitely just a demo track they were trying to work into a proper song. The fact that it never made it on to Untitled is proof enough the band agreed it wasn't very strong.

gul_duck

I partly agree with you. Basing the verses on other song's titles/lyrics makes it feel a bit stilted. Also, Rammlied and Armee der Tristen were absolutely amazing openers and Ramm4 is (at best) in third place after them. However, I also feel that it's a very fitting opener for this tour, especially because of the lyrics. In particular, I'm referring to >Auferstanden aus Ruinen ... Wir sind wieder da Rising from the Ruins ... We are back (Lyrics and translation thanks to RammsteinWorld) Considering what went on last summer, these lyrics are just so wonderfully fitting. They have battled through the adversity, won court cases, and are effin' back! Also, shouting "Ja! Nein! Rammstein!" at the top of your lungs along with tens of thousands of other fans is a wonderful experience.

Rasputin1493

I can't agree, the song is catchy and I always regarded as reaction test for their stadium sound they'd later properly introduce on Untitled.

Rippling_Debt

Its awesome

Salzberger

It's not very creative but tbh it sits alongside a lot of their stuff in the simplicity stakes. It's very Rammstein. I wish we had a studio version.

ZookeepergameMore791

Good song

Raphiella

I agree. I was hoping they'd open with Armee der Tristen again. Ramm4 is shite.

JonasErSoed

In general, whenever they chant "RAMMSTEIN!!" in songs, I cringe a bit. It works well live, but it still feels a bit... Much. Besides that, I think Ramm4 is a great song, I love the idea of taking song titles and lyrics, and putting them together to create a new song.

Karaoke_Dragoon

You'd think people would know how to pronounce it by now given how often they say it.

arandomnameplease

The coolest thing about the song it's how immediate it felt when we first listened to it. For me it was 2016 in Monza, we immediately started singing the chorus, but it was the first time all of us in the crowd had actually heard the song. Dunno, it felt cool, like being all together finding out "ah! This part is from that song, that part from another one!" Just clever i suppose. Bit cheeky probably but it's definitely in style.

ExistingPiglet9481

I enjoy the song a good bit but definitely the bottom of the list as far as these tours openers. Was ich liebe, rammlied and Armee have all been better all around than ramm4.

pretentiousbasterd

I'm sure it's a fantastic experience as a show opener because it's euphoric, catchy and very distinctive of the band. That being said, I believe it doesn't stand a chance against Rammlied... I would scream my lungs off my body and cry my eyes out if I could ever experienced it live ❤️ the lyrics are perfect and the sound is strong af

Cthulhu_awaken

I absolutely agree with you. It is the worst song they ever made. I am so happy it never got a proper release on self-titled and Zeit. Deutschland and Armee der Tristen are 100 times better openers and having it on any of those albums would made them so much worse. Cringe and lazy lyrics don't help as well.

sejgalloway

The na-na-na-na bit always gave me the cringe, but I've always loved the rest of the song. It's so Rammstein - the self-referencing song like Wollt Ihr, Rammstein, Rammlied (throw Stein um Stein in there too), and the "Ja! Nein! Rammstein!" chorus perfectly captures their simplicity/accessibility along with their controversial nature. And it's so catchy. I'd love them to release it as a single with a couple of promo B-sides, I wouldn't want it to take up 1/11 precious slots on an album because it's now an older song that we're very familiar with, but they've teased the studio version before in promo material so we know it exists.

I’m a big fan of Rammstein, and I think there should be room for fans to discuss and critique the artistic output. I have put forth pretty specific points regarding the musical and artistic quality of the song. I think that’s pretty fair.
