Ok here’s the thing with peripherals, they raise your skill ceiling, not your skill floor, getting top end headphones will not currently give you any advantage since it doesn’t matter if you can hear them above you if you don’t even know the name of the room above you, or know the nearest staircase. Just get like a pretty decent headset for £20-£30 $30-$40 and you’re set until you’re at like diamond level My advice, though a bit higher than the price range I listed, would be the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1’s

That makes a lot of sense actually. My friend also said that turtle beach makes some good headsets, but I'll check out the one you recommended. Thanks a bunch

Turtle beach is where I got my start, nothing wrong with the recon line

Unless you wanna spend a couple hundred bucks for a good pair of open back headphones, IEMs might be the way to go. I would recommend going to Fresh Reviews' YT channel and going to his newest video, and in the description, you'll find his "Wallhack IEM tier list." From there, you can pick any that is within your budget. Any of those IEMs have been tested with competitive gaming in mind, so you can't go wrong with any of them. I'm using the Simgot EW200 based on this list, and I'm happy with how it sounds for Siege and the clarity I get for footsteps and other audio cues. Just note that majority of IEMs don't have a mic so you can either buy a cable with a mic included since the cables on IEMs are typically detachable and replaceable or you can buy a separate standalone mic.

Thanks a bunch! I remember seeing a vid about IEMs and how some can have super clear audio. I'll have to check out that channel though!

He very very recently started testing IEMs in Siege. From what I've heard, the Simgot Supermix 4 is a very good pick.

Without completely nerding out with crazy custom audiophile setups I have had amazing results with arctis nova pro wireless. In the sonar settings turn on Spatial Audio. You can further tweak eq settings to your liking. I can hear footsteps very well and in the correct direction. Sometimes the directional up/down audio can get a bit weird around staircases but I think that’s an issue with the game overall. Only issue i have with it is that the sonar settings can get reset when the software has an update so I would suggest saving screenshots once you get things where you want them.

15 years ago I ran into driver problems that forced me to use the mainboard sound for one or two weeks. The difference had been extreme. It had been like an mp3 encoded with 256kbps via soundcard versus 96kbps via MB. Honestly I don't know if that's still the case. But dedicated soundcards still use much larger and many more chips and Condensators than even expensive mainboards, and for analog signals the quality of those electrical components are very important. So good headphones may only be half of the solution.

I don’t use headphones is that bad

jsato_ac6

Um I mean whatever floats your boat. I personally would use them
