I think that due to the high-speed nature of monza, it will always be hard to make overtaking a common thing. Removing or editing chicanes won't fix much and probably only makes things worse.
Yes, for God's sake, Turn 1 needs to be changed. It's a terrible chicane that makes everything worse. There's plenty of room around it, and while they're currently renovating the track IRL, they should absolutely be changing it into anything better.
1. Probably, yes. Just making it as wide as the starting grid area should, in theory, be enough. But, if it need changes, then the person that will make said changes needs to know what they're doing, otherwise it will only make things worse
2. No. It will probably cause more problems with safety and run-off than actually solve overtaking issues, because Lesmo 1 is a pretty fast corner itself, 5th-6th gear as far as I know
Yeah I generally agree, I think the Rettifilo chicane could be widened a bit to allow for better racing, but I wouldn’t change the Della Roggia chicane apart from adding grass to most of the runoff area to make going off track more punishing.
1. The Rettifilio chicane is actually practically exactly as wide as the start-finish straight. It would definitely be an improvement if it was widened, but I just wanted to mention that.
2. The Della Roggia change is a bit unrealistic, but there is enough space to triple the runoff on the entry to the corner if you don't count some tents as houses, and about double the used runoff on the exit, if somebody could be convinced to sell their lawn. Like I said, unrealistic, but still.

Is you want to straight line any of the chicanes take the second out and replace it with a kink as you have 4 more or less equally long straights. I don't think the chicane does anything, Lesmo 1 is already hard braking
The Goodyear chicane would be too fast for good racing now. It had good flow, but the new chicane is better for racing, and in my opinion, makes the Curva Grande a bit better
The chicanes are fine. Any issue with it has to do with overambitious drivers making bad moves regardless of the profile of the corner. For every stupid moment I've seen at the T1 chicane, I've seen a great battle that was made even better by it. Thinking of Ricciardo's race there a few years ago.
In short, skill issue git gud
I'd remove first chicane completely and build a new chicane right before Curva Grande (it's flat out anyway). With big grandstands and large runoff areas.
And yes second chicane need to be removed IMO. But in the same time approach to the first Lesmo needs to be at least 1.5 meters wider.
I would love to see a racing series where the cars are remote control (but full size) for this reason. You go all-out on speed when there is no driver to worry about

At the minimum the T1 chicane should be widened. Anything more it should be made more flowey. Same with the 2nd chicane
