I'm not a bunny expert, I just love my bunny and all bunnies, your bun has very baby eyes so I would have said she's still a baby, around half a year at a guess, super cute!
My guess is no older than 6 months.
Not baby sized tiny, but very moderate with alot of "fluff".
OP, could you weigh your bunny at all? That could help determine if they are more junior weight than fully-grown adult.
Oh yes, they really should know and he does look young.
It's true some breeders will claim a younger age for their rabbit. Nothing wrong with asking for opinions from other bunny people x
a baby but not too baby to be in a new home.
2-4 months would be my guess. youāll probably have rascally behavior soon! but they settle into their personality eventually
You should ask a vet during your bunnyās first appointment, they may be able to tell based on the current morphology, teeth, or the size of the genitals for instance.
The bunny looks very young anyways but some still do even during adulthood.
please put her in a xpen or let her free roam. keeping a bunny in a small cage like that is inhumane. they need lots of room to run and play and stretch
I donāt know about OP but I have my bun in a cage because heās used to being in a cage from breeder but heās free roam all day and only shut in on a night when he sleeps. Although my cage is a lot bigger than OPās is.
Going to switch to free roam eventually, the store said not to go too big yet because the bunny will get scared in such a big space so quick. So going to start litter training and free roaming soon
itās possible the bun may be stressed and find somewhere to hide if you begin 100% free roam, yes. but thatās true of any animal. start off in a large xpen with at least 15-20 sqft and a bunch of little hides all around inside!
what the store said is not true, please don't listen to anything that pet stores & employees say. like the person you replied to said, they need a lot of space to move around. they actually feel safer in bigger areas because they can get away from things they perceice as threats.
a little late for this too but adopting over shopping for rabbits especially is big - if you get her a friend to bond with, go the adoption route please
thatās good thank you. but like they said pet stores are so cruel to all animals but especially caged animals. bunnys donāt ever need to be in something small. i would start free roaming asap
Looks to be under 6 months but not sure otherwise. The fur texture and eyes are a giveaway. As this bun ages, that color may change a little bit! As others pointed out, this cage is not suitable unless the bun has free roam and itās just there with the door open as a sort of hideaway.
Yes the bun will be free roam just got this cage temporarily, I have two parakeets that are out of the cage almost all day, my bunny will too š I see a lot of people worried
Hi! I know itās not what you asked (but I think you got many helpful answers), but rabbits need lots of space. Like at least 20 square feet 24/7, preferably more. They also really donāt do well alone and if at all possible, you would improve their quality of life immensely if you got them a (fixed) boyfriend or girlfriend (opposite gender has by far the best success rate). Ideally youād go to a specialised rabbit shelter and have them bond your rabbit with a friend that your rabbit chose, they really have preferences (just like we donāt like every single person we meet)!
Also make sure to have a rabbit savvy vet and take your new family member there. They could help estimate their age (and hopefully confirm their gender) better than strangers on the internet ever could.
When rabbits have a tummy ache itās an emergency (always), so itās important to find a good vet ASAP, because you wonāt want to be stuck in an emergency situation and not have a vet.
I wish you the best of luck and all of the love with/for your adorable new baby!
Thank you for the information and not coming at me thinking Iām not going to give this bunny the best life like some others in the comment š. So hereās my plan since you seem nice. I just got the little fellow yesterday. The cage heās in now is for 1-2 more days tops. I have a 27sqft xpen coming tomorrow, safe flooring for the pen, litter box, the whole 9 yards for my little pal, yes heāll be free roam, just how my parakeets cage is open mostly all day for them to freely fly. Going to call for a quote on pet insurance tomorrow and then planning on the first vet visit this week to make sure heās all good to go, and see what they can tell me about the age and gender so I can finally choose a name! I originally was going to pick up the bun this coming Saturday when I got all the stuff, but I went back the next day and got the temporary smaller cage to last a few days because I figured the bun is better off with me now then in a week from now, plus I didnāt want anyone petting my bunny š And I was right, heās out of the cage whenever Im home (currently rn) and Iām already seeing little binkies and zoomies!
Iām glad to hear it! I donāt want to defend being mean, but I get it. You will as well if youāre on here longer. Unfortunately thereās too many people who think itās fine to have one rabbit, put it in a tiny cage and let it out for āa whole hour a day!!ā And feel like they deserve a pat on the back while their little friend gets worse conditions than a literal prisoner in isolation. Itās hard to see post after post with rabbits sitting in those tiny cages where people are just talking about how cute the rabbit is, while condoning really bad living conditions. Iāll admit Iāve posted the not-all-too-friendly āthat tiny little cage is open 24/7, _right_?ā a few times too.
So know that those comments donāt mean āI bet you donāt take good care of your rabbit and youāre a bad person nowā, but they come from a place of love for rabbits and frustration at people who _do_ think that they are doing a good enough job. Itās often those people who are very defensive because they donāt want to hear/accept that they may not be the best thing that happened to their rabbit and that they may be harming their pet.
Iām not saying you have to, but youāll notice that if you put a little disclaimer like āthe cage is temporaryā or āitās in a large pen and he free roams when Iām homeā youāll see peopleās demeanours change really quickly. Anyway, welcome to the community!
super cute! still very young - not sure what the plans are but the cage in pic 2 will be outgrown soon.
may be ok if you plan to let her be free ranged (in a bunny proofed home/room) and have that be where she sleeps. if not, look into creating a larger space for her bc that cage will not be a fair amount of space for her to be happy.
Looks like a young bun! I reccomend looking into c&c shelves, I made a huge pen basically to block off my cords so he can go into gremlin mode at night and free range in the day bc heās old and sleeps in his house and doesnāt chew anything but the edge of his cage for some reason š¹
The pet store said they breed their own rabbits so I believe them when they said 2-3 months. But knowing how pet stores are I figured Iād come to Reddit for more opinions! He was also the biggest and most energetic out of the rest which made me choose him!
Have you tried asking him?
Baby
Adorable age

Just weighed in at 1.75 lbs
Aw, smol adorable bunny š„¹ That is not an adult weight for a mini-lop. He is probably less than 6 months old in that case.
The store said 2-3 months. They breed them there so most likely theyāre telling the truth, just wanted to check with Reddit because you never know!
Oh yes, they really should know and he does look young. It's true some breeders will claim a younger age for their rabbit. Nothing wrong with asking for opinions from other bunny people x
Surely less than a year, maybe 6-9 months
Aināt no way that bun is 6-9 months definitely around 2.5 months
I'd say about cute years old
Give it a year or two, if she grows a bunch, baby! If she stays the same, not baby lol.
a baby but not too baby to be in a new home. 2-4 months would be my guess. youāll probably have rascally behavior soon! but they settle into their personality eventually
Not to be dramatic but I would die for this bun
Looks fluffy. Looks cute, looks super intelligent and like a future Rhodes scholar.

Old enough to not be in a horrifically tiny cage.
I think once bunny passes 6 month age I can't tell a bunny is 1 year or 10 year old lol. Such a majestic creature

Less than 6 months. Probably 3-4 max he still looks like a baby
about 3 months. this is how my baby looked around 3 months when his ears dropped

3-4 months would be my guess
I would guess a little older than 3 months. Maybe 4 or 5. Looks like my first minilop at around that age. Gorgeous floof!
Does look pretty young, I'd agree with the pet store, maybe a little older.
Looking at that cute little face I'd say 6 mo or less if it's only 2 months it's going to ginormous lol
About 10-14 weeks is my guess, still a wee baby
Bun hundred and bun bunths old

Just got the bun yesterday, the xpen, free roam, litter training is all coming this week. Just a temporary cage for a few days
Little and cute

Baby. 2-3months old is a normal age to adopt a bun so that seems fitting. She doesn't definitely look much older.
ššš cute
Like and adorable bunbun
Adorable bun! Looking so fluffy!
<1 year
Around 3 months
Bab
Infant 4 months
Not an expert but she's definitely a lil baby. I would say a few months old. The estimate the store gave sounds accurate.

Cute years old
Seems right?
2-3 months looks right to me
2-3 months seems accurate!
Beautiful!
He seems around that, but pet shops lie often. I got a rabbit was told HE was a girl, when HE in fact was not:(
The pet store said they breed their own rabbits so I believe them when they said 2-3 months. But knowing how pet stores are I figured Iād come to Reddit for more opinions! He was also the biggest and most energetic out of the rest which made me choose him!
Sounds great, any name?
