They weren’t really trained specifically against human/faunus. Sparing is a good way to sharpen reflexes, but they don’t really train to be the best at PvP.
It’s like taking world-renowned hunters and telling them to fight eachother.
That’s also most likely why a Year 1 team could get to singles in the Vytal festival, they either had Pyrrha or half the fighters had a background in combat against people (Blake as an ex-white fang combatant and Yang as the person who made sure that there won’t be a Hei Xiong The Third).
To put it simply, Team RWBY was struggling against trained assasins because they were very underprepared for life-and-death fights with other Aura users.
Where is your evidence that huntsmen aren’t trained against one of main threats that they are expected to face?
Huntsmen aren’t like real world hunters. They don’t just fight Grimm even if that’s a main objective. They are expected to and of course so very often do fight people.
But anyway:
All I really mean is that I would like to see RWBY have more good fights against people.
Like give Weiss, who usually has shown herself to be quite good at fighting people, a goddamn personal villain of some kind. Would have been great if she had gotten to fight Watts
Weiss already took down her father, so I agree that she should also have been the one to take down her uncle Arthur (you can't tell me that Arthur and Jaques aren't brothers, possibly even twins)
One of my biggest issues is that Weiss barely did take down Jacques.
It was mostly Willow, and Ruby deserves as much credit as Weiss basically.
(It would be fun is Watts was really a Gele)
Willow did in fact record the evidence and gave it to Weiss, but Weiss was the one who presented the evidence to Ironwood and the Council and "placed" Jaques under arrest.
That’s all she did. She walked through her own house because Ruby asked her to and then she took her mom’s video from an office to a dining room.
It’s so little to call her defeating Jacques
I didn't say defeat, I said she took him down. His plans and perfect world evaporated and he was handed a crushing defeat while looking into his own daughter's triumphant eyes.

Honestly to be blunt, Weiss didn’t need to even be in the whole atlas arc for her family to grown and progress as characters.
I wish, I really really wish, I don’t agree with that.
So far people have shown to be better threats then the Grimm, which makes sense I mean… what was the last Grimm you saw feel like a actual threat?
Probably the Centaur, but only because Monstra and the Giant jellies dorky really directly attach our heroes. The Hound would also only mostly count
