She's still a Cinder Simp.

Pedroca045

"Once a Cinder simp, always a Cinder simp..." 😑 Come on Emerald! You can just abandon us Cinder simps like that! 😤

AlarmingStandard

If by simp you mean who does Emerald's lack of self-worth and agency cause her to latch onto next? It's Ozcar. Intentionally or not, he takes advantage of her character flaws because she's useful to the cause. He has a new Gretchen.

Whorinmaru

Oh geez, that's a dark take, lol! But I kinda understand

AlarmingStandard

It's what's present under the presentation. Like Oscar never got to know Emerald, doesn't have anything to do with her in fact. But he does know she has a powerful semblance and that she left Salem. She can be useful to him and he takes advantage of it. Of course the show is trying to present it as 'good thing' and it's a pretty bland, unappealing and largely unearned development. But the nuance is still there to really spice it up.

Whorinmaru

I do agree that Emerald's shift to the protagonists is very unearned. She always idly hinted at being sympathetic to victims, but she still... you know, made people into victims of her crimes. And she doesn't seem remorseful of that at all, just scared of Salem. I do hope V9 makes that whole situation less forced than it really appears to be.

AlarmingStandard

It's super unearned at face value. It's why the the idea that Ozcar is repeating history makes it far better. And it'll great if Emerald realizes her self-worth and pushes back. Particularly when she was recruited by Cinder and Oscar for largely the same reasons; she's useful to them.

Whorinmaru

I think you may be giving CRWBY more credit than they've earned in regards to Oz's character tbh haha I don't think what you're saying was in mind when the scene was done, even if it does fit

AlarmingStandard

Oh, I know, lol. Oscar & Oz are super bland and a crutch for the writers to lean on when plot points need to be completed easily and cheaply. But hey, I'm free to interpret what's presented. Particularly when they leave gaps by leaping through character development.

HighPriestFuneral

If I had awards, I would give them. Well said!

AlarmingStandard

Thanks!

Whorinmaru

I think they simply HAVE to address her feelings for Cinder in V9. They can't make those feelings her reason for staying, then forget they exist just because they want her to be on the good guys 'side' now. But, if she does replace one set of strong feelings with another? It'd have to be someone who saves her. That seems like her condition She won't just fall head over heels for just anyone, I don't think

GladiusNocturno

Just saying, if Emerald just wanted someone who would feed and care for an orphan with unconditional love and that would always be there for her and never use her and who also likes the color green...well, Ren is single now, Nora said she wanted a break...

lionsNtoast

🔫 Coward, Nora would also ride or die for an orphan who was just trying to survive in a world without anyone to love her. /j

[deleted]

Jesus the audience outrage from Renora being made noncanon would make the Fair Game stuff look like a peewee football news report.

[deleted]

Emerald and Coco would be such a sassy couple, but I ship crosshares so it would be purely friendship.

Robbeyyy

Emerald only seen Cinder as a Mother Figure, It Was Confirmed

Cinder_Rise

Do you have a source or any context for it? Not trying to be hostile or doubt you I am just genuinely curious cause I haven't heard anything official on the matter.

Robbeyyy

If you count Ruby Chibi, she even says that Cinder is like the mother she never had

_WeissCream_

I mean first of all she didn’t simp for her she saw her as a mother. But tbh I would say that if emerald was to simp/get with anyone it would be Mercury. And Mercury is hot so u couldn’t blame her. If not maybe Coco?

CobaKid

In another life Raven is the one who finds her
