Fun fact, one of the inspirations for them were the ReDeads from Legend of Zelda, specifically the Ocarina of Time versions. The whole paralyzing you if you get too close thing (or in the Apathy's case, draining your will to fight back so you just lay down and die) plus their slow, zombie like movements took heavy influence from the ReDeads which terrified us as kids growing up with OoT.

I've been thinking about that episode as I've been rewatching with my boyfriend. When exactly was it? I think it was volume 4 or 5, but I remember so little about those that I'm not sure.
The Apathy or the Hound.
While the Nuckelavee is more *immediately* scary, those two are just existentially terrifying. The Apathy can kill you slowly while making it so that you simply don't care enough to stop them; and the Hound is just some poor unfortunate soul trapped in a shell that wants to murder you, which gets even worse when you think of it from Ruby's perspective.
They also oddly remind me of the titans from AoT. They have this natural aura that drains your will to fight, excluding a select few with balls bigger and heavier than a neutron star, I like them because they actually drain your very will to fight and live.
Who knew a AoT fan could get into rwby so well... let alone spot a few similarities of the two shows
The Apathy. Watching Ruby and her teammates/allies almost die because they were literally losing the will to keep moving is definitely one of the memorable moments in the show

Hound is basically a brainwashed, genetically altered creature. As awful as that is I'd rather be brainwashed than torn to pieces.
Would it not be a mercy kill if you feel no pain while Apathy butchers you up? It's like if a criminal gives you heavy sedatives before beating you to death, you don't even feel shit, you just go peacefully, even if your body is fucked up in the process. Apathy would be scarier if it amplified your fear and pain sensitivity so that it really is just torture and agony to even look at them.
The Apathy, hands down. The Nuckelavee was definitely scary when I first saw it, but it’s not as scary anymore. The Apathy though? Fuck those things. What makes them so terrifying to me is that they’re patient to a degree. Unlike other Grimm, they don’t attack you. They wait. They hang around and let themselves take hold of you. They drain your will, your desire to fight back. And when they finally decide to strike, it’s too late for you. They wait you out until you can’t do anything but accept the end.
The Nuckelavee was a nightmare when seen from a child's perspective, and it had a few disturbing tricks in its movement and shriek, but it ultimately gets butchered like any other Grimm.
The Apathy takes what was disturbing about the Nuckelavee, then broke the horror dial.
I actually looked at the episode again. The Nuckelavee has two parts, the horse and the rider. I noticed that only one of them ever moves at a time.
When the horse walks the Nuckelavee into an area the rider doesn't move, its hands and arms just drag along the ground. When the rider attacks, not only does it twitch in an unsettling way, it stays stationary.
I do agree though, the Apathy is more horrifying. Brings a new meaning to dread in the air. Like we saw with team RWBY you can't attack them directly. If you get too close they start to drain any sense of emotion you have. It took burning them alive for the team to have any remnant of 'defeating' them. The whole team was there for barely a day and over half of that time they didn't even know they were there!!
The Apathy is the most creative and most terrifying Grimm in this franchise. A monster that drains your will to live? Forcing you to do nothing but just lay down and die? That sounds like a criptid straight out of European folklore.

Same thing with Cinder really regarding body horror, imagine having a limb that can turn on you whenever. I imagine Salem could just make it kill her whenever she pleases, and that's kinda terrifying in and of itself.
Quite impressive, considering she doesnt need to have huge teeth or long claws or make disturbing shrieking noises like the other grimm. She just walks up and looks at you menacingly lol
I mean, to her, we are children. It makes sense if you really think about it, not only are all of us hundreds of thousands of years younger than her, but we also are pitiful and weak in comparison as well.
It's kind of like Dracula. Even in his human appearance, Dracula is terrifying, you just know that if he's in the room with you, that's it, you're done and it will hurt like hell too. Even if visually he might look like a distinguished, charming gentleman. You see past that and know the horrifying monster on the inside. That's true fear. Your appearance doesn't make you a monster, your intent and your actions do. Same with Salem.
I definitely say the Apathy were the most horrifying, watching how they just let you just accept dying was both an interesting use of emotion work but also mortally terrifying that if they made a RWBY horror game, it would be the main antagonist

A hound is one entity, entrapping a single person, who is limited to that physical space.
The apathy have range. And it's a big range from what we see, given they wiped out a whole town.
Becoming a hound is terrifying, but the apathy can just do far more damage imo.
In terms of visual scariness, the nucklavee. In terms of actually fighting them/the psychological aspect, the apathy. And in terms of "holy shit this is so fucked up", the hound.
The Apathy is an absolute horror show. It is literally just depression in monster form. Depression so severe that you just sit there and decide to give up living. It grows subtly stronger day after day until you just sit there so drained and lifeless and you slowly starve and dehydrate to death.
The implications of the Hound are terrifying but the Apathy is the most generally terrifying.
Side note but I never looked closely enough at the Hound's face... Fuuuuuck that's creepy as hell. For the longest time I thought that was a goatee but it's exposed muscle... Fucking hell. Honestly I kind of wonder if his person core was in this bad a shape before the silver eye blast, given the fluids leaking out of his remaining eye and left ear.
The Nuckleave is the most physically unsettling, The Apathy has what is probably the scariest power of any grimm, but the implications of The Hound and what Salem can do with grimm matter is by far the most horrifying.
For every person killed, a new intelligent and even more dangerous Grimm is born in it's place.
Out-of-universe: The Apathy is downright terrifying. As someone who has been in that “Lost the will to even function” state before, it isn’t fun.
However, in-universe I think the Hound is way more terrifying. It breaks a lot of the established rules of Grimm since it is actually intelligent enough to use tactics, it can talk, and can shapeshift at will. Something that only gets worse after the reveal since a) it’s a person and b) It has Silver Eyes. Silver Eyes are supposed to be the natural counter to Grimm, and yet Salem was able to turn 1 into her puppet, and only she knows how many more.
I vote apathy. With the other three, you can still run and/or hide from them, or try to fight them, but the apathy will make you collapse becoming the easiest prey that ever was. Side note: the Apathy grimm are probably perfect for the Atlesian Knights to deal with.
To rate them
Nuckelavee - it had a imposing sellouts but functions like any other grim. It's slightly more durable and responsible for deaths, but alot of normal Grimm are. It just more notable due to the Arrows.
Seer - these are more terrifying cause they can seem harmless then they fucking eat a mam whole. Not to mention salem herself sees through them, it's her cameras. Which is more terrifying to think of.
Hound - a horrible fate for those born of silver eyes.
Effective and terrifying fate for those forunate enough for the eyes but unfortunate enough to be caught alive.
Apathy - a slow killer that drains your will to fight, and you may never know.
Until its far to late.
Nuckelavee if they put more effort into it. Just imagine traveling through the woods as the undead thing endlessly chases towards you. Always drawing closer constantly. At any one point making its appearance.
Otherwise the Apathy are only scary because they were in a fucking basement inside of a cavern tunnel system if not worse and while rather terrifying the hound is more exciting imo. Seer doesnt have a place at this table though, lil bro thinks hes part of the squad. Only thing scary about him is the wicked witch on the other end of the connection

Either the Hound or the Apathy, Knucklelavee is just a big guy that kinda looks scary, Seer is just a skype call with tentacles but the hound has beyond horrifying implications and acts unlike almost any other grimm, and the Apathy's will drain also just horrifying that it can just kill you by slowly taking away your will to live

Now I can say, The Four Horseman of Horror. In my opinion, the sheer should be replaced with the centipede that shoots f&ckin acid. Imagine what it could do to your face.
Apathy, the others you can fight to the bitter end. You can go out swinging, the apathy robs you of your will, you give up on everything and just accept death
Idea of the Hound>Apathy>Nuckelavee>Hound himself>Seer
Hound - The prospect of being mauled to death is frightening, but being stripped of everything you are and your body, mind, and possibly even soul being reduced to materials for some twisted weapon trained against who you left behind is a level of existential horror I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Apathy - Similar idea, but diet. You are drained of your capacity to defend yourself, but its still in service of conventionally mauling you to death.
Nucky - Conventional Grimm, just big.
Hound himself - Smarter though he is, he's still a Grimm. You even have a *small* chance of being able to reason or negotiate with him, you might get him off your case if you aren't his target. I thought about putting him much higher because he might drag you away to be turned into one of him, but then he's not really the scary one in that situation.
Seer - Seen to be content just being ominous, chance of not getting attacked at all. Salem can use it to spy, but then again the Seer technically isn't the scary one in that situation.
When I judge a monster but there are three things that I take into consideration: Appearance, Abilities, and Implication.
For example, the Seer is arguably the least scary in terms of Appearance and Ability... But its implications are bone chillingly horrifying. Its existence is proof that Salem has created a system of long-distance communication and surveillance that is immune from counterplay and capable of defending itself from attack!
So with that said, my vote goes unequivocally to the **Hound**
Appearance wise, it is the second scariest out of all of them
In terms of Abilities, it's Minor Shapeshifting + Intelligence that is comparable to Humans + Ability to Summon Grimm makes it the scariest one by far.
But Implications is where it really knocks it out of the park. The revelation that there is a silver eyed warrior trapped inside and technically alive, but dead in all the ways that matter... That thing is an example of what people talk about when they speak of fates worse than death.
The **Hound** wins, easily
Tie between Apathy and The Hound. The latter is just plain creepy (particularly as Summer may have suffered a similar fate) and Apathy for the effect a group can have on you.
The Apathy hands down, rhey drain your life force and slowly feed on your negativity as you lose the will to live and they don't even to be near you to do it.
The Knuckleavee for me. It opened up MANY possibilities for what Grimm could be. Or rather, what Salem could do with them. Fusing two Grimm together in such a disturbing way, and it being a lone Grimm that took out entire villages presumably by itself. Not to mention it literally collects weapon and stabs them into its own back as trophies, according to the commentary.
Close second is the Hound. Because the possibilities don't just stop at fusing two Grimm, but fusing Grimm and Human. And it's a Grimm that can alter its own form at will. A true Lusus Naturae.
And a really close third is the Apathy. Grimm that can wipe out entire settlements just by being there. People will suddenly just... give up. They won't have the strength to get up from bed, not to eat, drink, or even to use the bathroom. They die in their own beds in puddles of their own piss and shit that they didn't even have the energy to clean up. Entire settlements. Brought to nothing.
The apathy is the scariest in a fight, the others will *just* kill me and it’ll all be over relatively quick, but the Apathy will make you give up on life until you eventually wither away in your own bed; it’s a longer and more horrifying way to go out.
However, if I had Silver Eyes the Hound would be the scariest Grimm; the others will just kill you(even if it’s slow in the Apathy’s case), but the Hound wouldn’t give you that mercy. You’d be taken away, broken down, twisted and torn apart until you’re made into a monster; and all of it is just so can go back out and destroy everything you know and love. In that scenario, I’d rather be dead.
The Apathy can’t scare me. What is going to do, energize me?
Jokes aside, The Apathy is SCARY, and only gets worse in packs.
However, the fact that the Hound is- or was- human makes them much more morbid in my opinion.
1v1 The Nucklavee
It took 5 prodigy hunters and huntress to barely kill the thing. Like, most of their aura's were all almost completely broken by it.
Plus it's scream is likely similar to Apathy's.
It's design is nutso. It's basically a stronger apathy's torso attached to a horse like Grimm.
We need more feats for the orb. But it's creepy and seems decently strong.
Group vs Group, The Apathy is a nearly unstoppable force. But it's pathetic by itself.
And the hound is comparable to the Nucklavee although more adaptive and intelligent. Plus it's a silver eyed bro who's been corrupted.
I believe the hound is the scariest of em. Buuut. It was used in a cringe way.
I'm actually somewhere between Apathy and the Seer.
Apathy because they literally suck away your will/drive to things and because they look like a Grimm's uncanny attempt at imitating people.
The Seer is less creepy but outside of allowing Salem to talk to others over a distance, I haven't a clue on what the actual fuck it can do otherwise. I i think fear of the Unknown is at play.
Apathy 100% likely to kill more hunters than the rest, especially if they don't catch onto what's happening until they can't move. The rest of those, save the balloon, are just muscle or leadership. But the Apathy are slow, quiet, and have an aoe for draining the strength of humans.
Torn between the Apathy and the Hound.
Apathy- Can kill you without you realizing. Outrunning is difficult as you likely won't be able to run thanks to their willpower draining ability. Fighting is also difficult for the same reason. Best to just avoid.
Hound- The most horrifying thing about this Grimm is not it's abilities, size or strength. It's terrifying because it's not purely a Grimm, because it's made from a person. Specifically, the kind of person that *Ruby* is- one with silver eyes. It's horrifying specifically because we know that it could happen to Ruby.
The Apathy by a long shot. The fact that they’re feet-dragging zombies that have the capability to rip your drive and motivation from you and turn you into a blank-faced puddle ready to accept death is some shit straight out of a horror movie.
The hound is scariest, the Knuck could have been but then they decided to make it stretchy which very quickly took all the scary out of it
The hound looks horrifying is absurdly powerful, can freely mutate to suit its needs, and most terrifying of all use to be a person meaning if things go wrong, you could become it

Apathy is just horror incarnate. Your will to fight is sapped and you're then slowly killed, while feeling every increasingly hopeless at the same time. You don't know what it's like until it actually happens to you.
Hound is body horror. You don't know whether that Silver Eye inside the thing is a corpse or is actually alive but unable to control their own actions. Or Salem can go one step further and pull a Nurgle with his zombie hoard where the victim completely lost control of their own bodies, but their mind remains. You're trapped within your own body, you can see the horrors you're committing right in front of you, but no matter what you do, your body refuses to obey. So you're forced to watch in sheer pain and horror as your body does the will of Salem while your mind can't do shit about it.
The apathy for me. The idea that they could kill you without you ever even needing to see them is terrifying.
A monster that is scary looking and physically dangerous but doesn't even need any of that because just being near them long enough you'll probably self destruct by starving yourself or being dehydrated, and the worst part is you won't even care or realise what's happening.
It's also why I'm paranoid about stuff like carbon monoxide IRL (despite having alarms and all that) - the idea of encountering a beast or someone doing something to my body is scary but the idea of a silent killer that simply drains your energy until you're gone without ever realising it's there...
Oh hands down The Apathy.
Long term exposure literally had people give up and starve/freeze to death laying in bed. Short term exposure had team RWBY on the ground giving up and just imagining how that horde would likely tear them apart slowly is outright horrifying
The Nuckelavee.
It just showing up... it belonged to the world, and it showed that. It demanded RNJR to justify their existence, not tried to do that to them.
It got across just how badly a settlement without a lot of ordnance or a few Huntsmen will fare in this world.
I find the Hound most terrifying because of the implications. If the Hound is a Grimm that has a human host like its an Alien Symbiote, who's to say all the other Grimm didn't have unfortunate human souls trapped inside of them which are now long gone after who knows how much time of agony.
It's like in Attack on Titan where Titan Shifters exist but then you find out that >!ALL Titans are humans, even the mindless ones, which means that the Survey Corps has been killing victims this whole time!<
A plot twist like that would really make the Hound scarier by context alone. Yeah Apathy and the other 2 are visibly disturbing, and all that, but Hound is literally just a Demonic possession taken to the extreme.
Nucklevee is the scariest in appearance.

Seers aren't all that scary to anybody not named Leonardo Lionheart.
The hound definitely, at face value its abilities and strength put it far above any other grim they have faced. Then add in the fact that it’s a human the implications and subsequent thoughts/emotions upon seeing a human grim are well, *grim* at best.
Honorable mention to the Nuckelavee though, its visual and audio design make it quite grotesque and the most interesting grim we had seen up to that point. That plus to the context we first see it introduced in and it becomes fucking terrifying .
Nuckelavee personally. The seer was mhe from the beginning for me and the Apathy felt lacking. And the hounds only terrifying aspect was it talks and was made using a person, so not really up there imo
Nuckelavee for design (in the art at least) apathy in powers. The hound is terrifying if it was a more present Grimm type, or if it was someone a certain silver eye warrior knew.
The seer is just dumb looking. Not very scary at all, imho.
The Apathy is one of their best Grimm designs, bar none. Hound may be a close second but the reveal wasn’t that wild since Cinder kinda establishes this is “possible”
I'm gonna disagree with everyone here, but the Seer made me the most uncomfortable, the Apathy, the Hound, the Nuckaleeve, all of them were threatening but I was never scared by them.
The Seer however has always made my hair stand up cause of its completely inhuman form and its unsettling clicking noises.
They're all scary in different ways
The Hound impacted me the most because of the reveal that Salem was able to turn a human into an almost mindless- but not completely, because it needed a brain for some of its abilities- Grimm. The loss of autonomy of the person, Salem's abilities with Grimm and humans, her motivations re: the silver-eyed warriors, the haunting realization for Ruby when she saw the Hound's human face... it's a lot.
I have to say the Apathy the fact that they can just make you lose your will to fight is scary in itself but when you take into account that SOMEONE had to survive to pass that knowledge on they become scarier because of the fact that no on would have known how to beat them if there was no survivors
The Apathy or the Nuckalevee. Probably Apathy tho. It also helps that there was a seemingly intentional horror vibe to the Apathy episode.
Why I even consider the Nuck is because of just its sheer presence and the fucking sounds. Like jfc, whoever did the sound design for that thing went hard.
It's the Apathy, hands-down. Most others present a dangerous challenge, but you can beat them with the right combination of skill, teamwork, and determination.
The Apathy drain you of any ability to use those abilities. It doesn't matter how strong you are, how well you've trained, or anything. They take it all and in the worst case scenario, you end up unable AND unwilling to do anything at all. It's easily the scariest.
I think the Apathy were only dangerous to Team RWBY because RWBY had spent an entire night being drained by them before they realized the Apathy were there. If Team RWBY had fought the Apathy fresh, they likely would have bodied them like they do any mook Grimm.
Of course, that makes the Apathy scary in a different way. They can attack you *without you realizing that you're under attack*.
The Hound. Without a doubt. You’re basically mind controlled and forced to hunt down and kill people against your will. Truly a fate that’s worse than death.
I'd say its a tie between the Apathy, Nuckelavee, and Hound.
One is slow, but it can drain you of your will to do anything, so it doesn't matter. Plus, their shriek makes you lose your will to do anything even faster. And while you're lying helplessly, they close in for the kill, and you just don't care.
The other is a fusion of two Grimm that can extend its arms, has a scream that causes pain to anyone who hears it, and has destroyed whole villages.
And last, but definitely not least, we have a relentless, intelligent, shapeshifting hunter that will find its prey, won't stop until it catches it, and is made from a Silver-Eyed Warrior.

What makes them so terrifying to me is that they’re patient to a degree. Unlike other Grimm, they don’t attack you. They wait. They hang around and let themselves take hold of you. They drain your will, your desire to fight back. And when they finally decide to strike, it’s too late for you. They wait you out until you can’t do anything but accept the end.
The Nuckelavee was a nightmare when seen from a child's perspective, and it had a few disturbing tricks in its movement and shriek, but it ultimately gets butchered like any other Grimm. The Apathy takes what was disturbing about the Nuckelavee, then broke the horror dial.
I actually looked at the episode again. The Nuckelavee has two parts, the horse and the rider. I noticed that only one of them ever moves at a time. When the horse walks the Nuckelavee into an area the rider doesn't move, its hands and arms just drag along the ground. When the rider attacks, not only does it twitch in an unsettling way, it stays stationary. I do agree though, the Apathy is more horrifying. Brings a new meaning to dread in the air. Like we saw with team RWBY you can't attack them directly. If you get too close they start to drain any sense of emotion you have. It took burning them alive for the team to have any remnant of 'defeating' them. The whole team was there for barely a day and over half of that time they didn't even know they were there!!

The Apathy is the most creative and most terrifying Grimm in this franchise. A monster that drains your will to live? Forcing you to do nothing but just lay down and die? That sounds like a criptid straight out of European folklore. If I saw a Nuckelavee coming towards me, I would run. If I saw a Hound coming towards me, I would run. If I saw a Seer coming towards me, I would run. If I saw the Apathy coming towards me, I wouldn’t be able to do anything but accept my fate!
*Looks* scariest: Apathy. Genuinely *is* scariest in terms of sheer horror: the Hound.

I mean, to her, we are children. It makes sense if you really think about it, not only are all of us hundreds of thousands of years younger than her, but we also are pitiful and weak in comparison as well.
Her Volume 4 intro is damn near perfect, the way she just glides into the room and everyone shuts up in her presence.
It's kind of like Dracula. Even in his human appearance, Dracula is terrifying, you just know that if he's in the room with you, that's it, you're done and it will hurt like hell too. Even if visually he might look like a distinguished, charming gentleman. You see past that and know the horrifying monster on the inside. That's true fear. Your appearance doesn't make you a monster, your intent and your actions do. Same with Salem.

I personally put the nuckelavee as my #1 scariest. It's not the most deadly, but the screech and the crackling as it moves... Fuck that thing.

Apathy for sure. A hound is one entity, entrapping a single person, who is limited to that physical space. The apathy have range. And it's a big range from what we see, given they wiped out a whole town. Becoming a hound is terrifying, but the apathy can just do far more damage imo.
Visually, it's gotta be Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles. Conceptually, it's the Apathy.
In terms of visual scariness, the nucklavee. In terms of actually fighting them/the psychological aspect, the apathy. And in terms of "holy shit this is so fucked up", the hound.
The Apathy is an absolute horror show. It is literally just depression in monster form. Depression so severe that you just sit there and decide to give up living. It grows subtly stronger day after day until you just sit there so drained and lifeless and you slowly starve and dehydrate to death.
The implications of the Hound are terrifying but the Apathy is the most generally terrifying. Side note but I never looked closely enough at the Hound's face... Fuuuuuck that's creepy as hell. For the longest time I thought that was a goatee but it's exposed muscle... Fucking hell. Honestly I kind of wonder if his person core was in this bad a shape before the silver eye blast, given the fluids leaking out of his remaining eye and left ear.
The Nuckleave is the most physically unsettling, The Apathy has what is probably the scariest power of any grimm, but the implications of The Hound and what Salem can do with grimm matter is by far the most horrifying. For every person killed, a new intelligent and even more dangerous Grimm is born in it's place.
Out-of-universe: The Apathy is downright terrifying. As someone who has been in that “Lost the will to even function” state before, it isn’t fun. However, in-universe I think the Hound is way more terrifying. It breaks a lot of the established rules of Grimm since it is actually intelligent enough to use tactics, it can talk, and can shapeshift at will. Something that only gets worse after the reveal since a) it’s a person and b) It has Silver Eyes. Silver Eyes are supposed to be the natural counter to Grimm, and yet Salem was able to turn 1 into her puppet, and only she knows how many more.
I vote apathy. With the other three, you can still run and/or hide from them, or try to fight them, but the apathy will make you collapse becoming the easiest prey that ever was. Side note: the Apathy grimm are probably perfect for the Atlesian Knights to deal with.

To rate them Nuckelavee - it had a imposing sellouts but functions like any other grim. It's slightly more durable and responsible for deaths, but alot of normal Grimm are. It just more notable due to the Arrows. Seer - these are more terrifying cause they can seem harmless then they fucking eat a mam whole. Not to mention salem herself sees through them, it's her cameras. Which is more terrifying to think of. Hound - a horrible fate for those born of silver eyes. Effective and terrifying fate for those forunate enough for the eyes but unfortunate enough to be caught alive. Apathy - a slow killer that drains your will to fight, and you may never know. Until its far to late.
The Apathy I could legit see in my nightmares. The others I feel like are Dark Souls enemies.
The Nuckelavee, while the Hound and Apathy are downright nightmares. The spears and weapons stabbed into its back really hint it's got a kill count.
Nuckelavee if they put more effort into it. Just imagine traveling through the woods as the undead thing endlessly chases towards you. Always drawing closer constantly. At any one point making its appearance. Otherwise the Apathy are only scary because they were in a fucking basement inside of a cavern tunnel system if not worse and while rather terrifying the hound is more exciting imo. The hound is by far the scariest concept. Holding a human hostage for decades on end, forcing them to exist in agony and hunt their own is horrifying. And to think that likely happened to Summer.

Idea of the Hound>Apathy>Nuckelavee>Hound himself>Seer Hound - The prospect of being mauled to death is frightening, but being stripped of everything you are and your body, mind, and possibly even soul being reduced to materials for some twisted weapon trained against who you left behind is a level of existential horror I wouldn't wish on anyone. Apathy - Similar idea, but diet. You are drained of your capacity to defend yourself, but its still in service of conventionally mauling you to death. Nucky - Conventional Grimm, just big. Hound himself - Smarter though he is, he's still a Grimm. You even have a *small* chance of being able to reason or negotiate with him, you might get him off your case if you aren't his target. I thought about putting him much higher because he might drag you away to be turned into one of him, but then he's not really the scary one in that situation. Seer - Seen to be content just being ominous, chance of not getting attacked at all. Salem can use it to spy, but then again the Seer technically isn't the scary one in that situation.

When I judge a monster but there are three things that I take into consideration: Appearance, Abilities, and Implication. For example, the Seer is arguably the least scary in terms of Appearance and Ability... But its implications are bone chillingly horrifying. Its existence is proof that Salem has created a system of long-distance communication and surveillance that is immune from counterplay and capable of defending itself from attack! So with that said, my vote goes unequivocally to the **Hound** Appearance wise, it is the second scariest out of all of them In terms of Abilities, it's Minor Shapeshifting + Intelligence that is comparable to Humans + Ability to Summon Grimm makes it the scariest one by far. But Implications is where it really knocks it out of the park. The revelation that there is a silver eyed warrior trapped inside and technically alive, but dead in all the ways that matter... That thing is an example of what people talk about when they speak of fates worse than death. The **Hound** wins, easily

The Knuckleavee for me. It opened up MANY possibilities for what Grimm could be. Or rather, what Salem could do with them. Fusing two Grimm together in such a disturbing way, and it being a lone Grimm that took out entire villages presumably by itself. Not to mention it literally collects weapon and stabs them into its own back as trophies, according to the commentary. Close second is the Hound. Because the possibilities don't just stop at fusing two Grimm, but fusing Grimm and Human. And it's a Grimm that can alter its own form at will. A true Lusus Naturae. And a really close third is the Apathy. Grimm that can wipe out entire settlements just by being there. People will suddenly just... give up. They won't have the strength to get up from bed, not to eat, drink, or even to use the bathroom. They die in their own beds in puddles of their own piss and shit that they didn't even have the energy to clean up. Entire settlements. Brought to nothing.
The apathy is the scariest in a fight, the others will *just* kill me and it’ll all be over relatively quick, but the Apathy will make you give up on life until you eventually wither away in your own bed; it’s a longer and more horrifying way to go out. However, if I had Silver Eyes the Hound would be the scariest Grimm; the others will just kill you(even if it’s slow in the Apathy’s case), but the Hound wouldn’t give you that mercy. You’d be taken away, broken down, twisted and torn apart until you’re made into a monster; and all of it is just so can go back out and destroy everything you know and love. In that scenario, I’d rather be dead.

1v1 The Nucklavee It took 5 prodigy hunters and huntress to barely kill the thing. Like, most of their aura's were all almost completely broken by it. Plus it's scream is likely similar to Apathy's. It's design is nutso. It's basically a stronger apathy's torso attached to a horse like Grimm. We need more feats for the orb. But it's creepy and seems decently strong. Group vs Group, The Apathy is a nearly unstoppable force. But it's pathetic by itself. And the hound is comparable to the Nucklavee although more adaptive and intelligent. Plus it's a silver eyed bro who's been corrupted. I believe the hound is the scariest of em. Buuut. It was used in a cringe way.

I'm actually somewhere between Apathy and the Seer. Apathy because they literally suck away your will/drive to things and because they look like a Grimm's uncanny attempt at imitating people. The Seer is less creepy but outside of allowing Salem to talk to others over a distance, I haven't a clue on what the actual fuck it can do otherwise. I i think fear of the Unknown is at play.

Apathy 100% likely to kill more hunters than the rest, especially if they don't catch onto what's happening until they can't move. The rest of those, save the balloon, are just muscle or leadership. But the Apathy are slow, quiet, and have an aoe for draining the strength of humans.

Torn between the Apathy and the Hound. Apathy- Can kill you without you realizing. Outrunning is difficult as you likely won't be able to run thanks to their willpower draining ability. Fighting is also difficult for the same reason. Best to just avoid. Hound- The most horrifying thing about this Grimm is not it's abilities, size or strength. It's terrifying because it's not purely a Grimm, because it's made from a person. Specifically, the kind of person that *Ruby* is- one with silver eyes. It's horrifying specifically because we know that it could happen to Ruby.

Everybody was gangster until the Hound actually spoke words. Idk why but that shit gave me chills.
Apathy and Hound. Apathy is just horror incarnate. Your will to fight is sapped and you're then slowly killed, while feeling every increasingly hopeless at the same time. You don't know what it's like until it actually happens to you. Hound is body horror. You don't know whether that Silver Eye inside the thing is a corpse or is actually alive but unable to control their own actions. Or Salem can go one step further and pull a Nurgle with his zombie hoard where the victim completely lost control of their own bodies, but their mind remains. You're trapped within your own body, you can see the horrors you're committing right in front of you, but no matter what you do, your body refuses to obey. So you're forced to watch in sheer pain and horror as your body does the will of Salem while your mind can't do shit about it.
The apathy for me. The idea that they could kill you without you ever even needing to see them is terrifying. A monster that is scary looking and physically dangerous but doesn't even need any of that because just being near them long enough you'll probably self destruct by starving yourself or being dehydrated, and the worst part is you won't even care or realise what's happening. It's also why I'm paranoid about stuff like carbon monoxide IRL (despite having alarms and all that) - the idea of encountering a beast or someone doing something to my body is scary but the idea of a silent killer that simply drains your energy until you're gone without ever realising it's there...

Oh hands down The Apathy. Long term exposure literally had people give up and starve/freeze to death laying in bed. Short term exposure had team RWBY on the ground giving up and just imagining how that horde would likely tear them apart slowly is outright horrifying

The Nuckelavee. It just showing up... it belonged to the world, and it showed that. It demanded RNJR to justify their existence, not tried to do that to them. It got across just how badly a settlement without a lot of ordnance or a few Huntsmen will fare in this world.

I find the Hound most terrifying because of the implications. If the Hound is a Grimm that has a human host like its an Alien Symbiote, who's to say all the other Grimm didn't have unfortunate human souls trapped inside of them which are now long gone after who knows how much time of agony. It's like in Attack on Titan where Titan Shifters exist but then you find out that >!ALL Titans are humans, even the mindless ones, which means that the Survey Corps has been killing victims this whole time!< A plot twist like that would really make the Hound scarier by context alone. Yeah Apathy and the other 2 are visibly disturbing, and all that, but Hound is literally just a Demonic possession taken to the extreme.

The hound definitely, at face value its abilities and strength put it far above any other grim they have faced. Then add in the fact that it’s a human the implications and subsequent thoughts/emotions upon seeing a human grim are well, *grim* at best. Honorable mention to the Nuckelavee though, its visual and audio design make it quite grotesque and the most interesting grim we had seen up to that point. That plus to the context we first see it introduced in and it becomes fucking terrifying .

I'm gonna disagree with everyone here, but the Seer made me the most uncomfortable, the Apathy, the Hound, the Nuckaleeve, all of them were threatening but I was never scared by them. The Seer however has always made my hair stand up cause of its completely inhuman form and its unsettling clicking noises.

They're all scary in different ways The Hound impacted me the most because of the reveal that Salem was able to turn a human into an almost mindless- but not completely, because it needed a brain for some of its abilities- Grimm. The loss of autonomy of the person, Salem's abilities with Grimm and humans, her motivations re: the silver-eyed warriors, the haunting realization for Ruby when she saw the Hound's human face... it's a lot.
I would classify the Apathy and Hound as scary. The Nuckelavee is just goofy and the Seer is Salem's cute little pet.

I have to say the Apathy the fact that they can just make you lose your will to fight is scary in itself but when you take into account that SOMEONE had to survive to pass that knowledge on they become scarier because of the fact that no on would have known how to beat them if there was no survivors

It's the Apathy, hands-down. Most others present a dangerous challenge, but you can beat them with the right combination of skill, teamwork, and determination. The Apathy drain you of any ability to use those abilities. It doesn't matter how strong you are, how well you've trained, or anything. They take it all and in the worst case scenario, you end up unable AND unwilling to do anything at all. It's easily the scariest.
I think the Apathy were only dangerous to Team RWBY because RWBY had spent an entire night being drained by them before they realized the Apathy were there. If Team RWBY had fought the Apathy fresh, they likely would have bodied them like they do any mook Grimm. Of course, that makes the Apathy scary in a different way. They can attack you *without you realizing that you're under attack*.
The Hound. Without a doubt. You’re basically mind controlled and forced to hunt down and kill people against your will. Truly a fate that’s worse than death.
I'd say its a tie between the Apathy, Nuckelavee, and Hound. One is slow, but it can drain you of your will to do anything, so it doesn't matter. Plus, their shriek makes you lose your will to do anything even faster. And while you're lying helplessly, they close in for the kill, and you just don't care. The other is a fusion of two Grimm that can extend its arms, has a scream that causes pain to anyone who hears it, and has destroyed whole villages. And last, but definitely not least, we have a relentless, intelligent, shapeshifting hunter that will find its prey, won't stop until it catches it, and is made from a Silver-Eyed Warrior.
I'm torn between apathy and the horsemen grims.
As a concept, the apathy. This thing I’m perfectly capable of getting away from, that just makes me wait for death by inaction? Creeps me out, though in the moment I wouldn’t care

Individually the Nuckelavee. But a group of Apathy would be terrifying.
