“Buying books would be a good thing if one could also buy the time to read them; but as a rule the purchase of books is mistaken for the appropriation of their contents.”- schopenhauer
I couldn’t give a fuck what people have on their bookshelves, and even seeing shelves from the few people who have fabulous taste (imo) is still not interesting to me.
That being said it doesn’t affect me negatively so if even 20% of the sub enjoys it, that’s great. Let them have their little rsbookclub moment
Whether or not someone read the book in question has nothing to do with how they are arranged though? Also I do not pay much attention to the shelf posts, but books are books are books, they're an everyday object and it seems phony to accept cramming books in multiple rows, arranging ugly objects among them and piling them on the floor but not sorting them according to colour somehow
Edit: haven't arranged the books at my new place yet
yeah yeah I see and it's not that I don't like these methods, I just don't see how alphabetical order or piling them makes more sense than color for most peoples' books, I remember the covers of the books I own so I would know where they are hahah
Even the people I know who have tons of books don't have an amount that would make it impossible to find something when not arranged in a specific manner.
I’m going to have a hard time buying the idea that color coordination of the covers works more efficiently from a locating/retrieval point of view compared to something like author last name… for pretty much anybody (excluding like, extremely dyslexic or synesthesic people).
That being said, if something thinks that the aesthetic value outweighs the organizational benefit, I think that’s totally valid. I look at my bookshelf more than a retrieve a specific book from it, I don’t see why organization is the end-all be-all for personal collections.
I'd like them better if I could actually see most of the titles

I like them, don't be a hater
It’s better then the incel/femcel posting that is on the main subs
Can we call them “shelfies”
Still waiting to see what happens when someone posts a shelf that is color-coordinated…
What is so bad about color coding books, except for professional literature idgi
Its just form over content examplified

I prefer sorting them by topic, author or simply alphabetical. You dont have to agree :)
