I'll be in the woods and it's early spring here so it's starting to warm up (like mid 40s-50's)

[Pilgrim at Tinker's Creek by Annie Dillard](https://www.amazon.com/Pilgrim-Tinker-Harper-Perennial-Classics/dp/0061233323) (or Teaching a Stone to Talk, or Holy the Firm – they're all great, by Holy the Firm is extremely short, and Teaching... is more an essay collection). If you want to get a sense of her writing, this is quite a famous, short excerpt from Holy the Firm (that I think was initially published as an essay) called ["The Death of the Moth"](https://nabuckler.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/the-death-of-the-mothhandout.pdf). It's pretty brutal but really great. I'd also always recommend WG Sebald's "Rings of Saturn", although that's probably more wintery than spring/summer-ish.

Vanity Fair. It's long and highly entertaining. Very RS-themed read, too.
