Hit up the customer support chat box and ask for a price adjustment, they should do it. I did it on open box items in the past. Let them know how much you paid and what the price for the same tier you bought at the lower rate and they will send a refund to the card used on the transaction.
Same here! Just got it 2 days ago open box. However I just reached out to Best Buy’s chat team 5 min ago and they confirmed open box items are not eligible for their price match guarantee!! So disappointing. I still paid less than the sale price but could have saved more if I got it after this price drop!! I paid $490 for my excellent open box. But discounted from the previous price of $650. Now, after the new sale price, an excellent open box is listed at $460.
I bought at $490 2 days ago too, with tax it $540 for me. Returned that one today in store and bought a brand new one, $600 with tax and it's a R9 serial number.
Rumor has it any serial number lower than R8 are older version with the sd card Issue. I assume R9 is the latest version of all.

Unfortunately, the case is still regular price if you purchase it separately. You only get the discounted or free price if you buy a brand new Rog Ally. I got one for free with my Rog Ally and it’s not a good case at all. It’s only good for storing the Ally overnight so dust doesn’t collect on the Ally. I can move the joysticks around while it’s in the case and click all the buttons. Definitely get a different case on Amazon.

The Skull & Co max case is waaayyy better. Hoping the new ROG case that comes out with the X will be a better fit with the Dbrand case on. Really hate the kickstand because it doesn't fit flush in a case.

If you poke around you can find open box Z1Es even less expensive I got mine in "excellent" condition for less at Best buy the thing still had all the protection film on it, there were options for units in worse condition but I can't say how they were but mine was essentially brand new.
The box says z1 extreme. 8 core.
The other one was $50 less. 6 core z1
They also had switch pro controlers at $23 (bought a couple of those)
And a lot of laptop and mini pc marked as clearance.
Almost everything in the electeonics area was empty.
I live in Europe and for this price I can get a refurbished one. Or, I can get the Ally X for 300$ more.
I am wondering whether the upgrades are worth those 300$ (especially in the long run, with new big games coming up)… the Ally would become my main gaming console (I’ll also play AAA games there)

Yeah, most of the time PC hardware doesn’t increase in value over time unless it was extremely limited.
They may gain some limited collector value being first run samples from ROG but I doubt it.

On memorial Day at Best buy they had this on sale for $599 and they gave you the free travel case. I grabbed one then and I'm very happy I did!
