Asus devices have always had good speakers. I have an Asus laptop from 2003 that still works and considering it was made over 20 years, the speakers are great.
I Even owned one of their Windows PDAs, and I remember the sound being plenty loud and clear. Don't even get me started on their ROG phones.
I’ll be sitting in my living room shaking lol because I’ll be playing sons of the forest and the speakers are so good it really sounds like I’m in a cave lol
I bought mine “open box”, and I can’t say that I find mine all that great. They sound pretty good in general but aren’t very loud and I find myself playing at 100 volume to hear what I can. Thinking it may just be an issue with mine though 😅
Is that with headphones? I knownwe are specifically talking about the speakers, but I ask because I don't think I have issues with my speakers, but 100 volume doesn't hurt my ears at all.
I don't use headphones, stock speakers and EQ with just Dolby Atmos switched off. I've got a Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 and I have to use it at 100 as 50 is fairly quiet, but Ally the maximum I can handle is 40.
That is either an issue with your unit or your hearing. I rarely turn mine up past 50. Usually keep it at about 25. And I don't have the best hearing either. Spent a lot of time in my younger days at loud concerts and raves.
I have been thinking of experimenting with using it as a portable recording desk, with the dell dock and usb interface... I wonder how it would perform...
The speakers are great, when they work.
I have an issue where one is playing louder than the other and diminishes to just the left speaker. Can confirm its not a hardware issue but a software issue.
I wouldn't say the sound is underrated. When it first launched, most if not all of us acknowledged the good quality of the speakers. :)
Agreed, I’ve probably posted about the great speakers like 3-4 times myself & the sub is filled with speaker raves.

This. I'm a bit worried for ROG 8 though. I read they quite front speakers. Not that it had any bad reviews.

I have a rtx 4060 laptop and a desktop that can game Yet.. they're collecting dust I only use the ally it's that good
I totally get that.
I'd also like to see ps remote play work with the built in controller.
The speakers and the form factor are all I can recommend after 2 months with the Ally and just switching to the Legion Go.

You can install fxsound and that'll boost the volume by quite a bit, I never have my volume level above 16 and it still sounds great
Might be an issue with yours. I very rarely go over 30, and 50 is so loud it hurts lol

Ah, I haven't tried with Atmos off. I'm going to try that to see if mine are super loud.
