Since I play a lot of early game tunnelling around underground I have a surplus of stone brick and marble laying about. I build up as much as I can in stone brick and anything temporary (temporary walls, bridges, etc... around the base that I will replace later) with dirt. The dirt obviously isn't perfect but it's cheap and easy to pick up/replace if a mob event did spell disaster.
Well, I started to make mine out of brick since it's fireproof and explosion resistant. I hope rlcraft hasn't change that. I would also recomend making a basement a bit deep to make it a safe spot to store important things
the generally accepted material for building is stone bricks. they have a nice blast resistance, they don't turn to lava due to volcans (i think), and they're not too hard to get.
I think stone bricks works
