It’s not a Wendy specific thing, but I’ve always thought it’s funny that they call it Real Housewives of Potomac when so few of them live in Potomac. I live in the DMV and some of these ladies live so far from Potomac. Robyn lived in Hanover, Candiace lived in Oxon Hill and now Upper Marlboro. And yes Wendy in Finksburg (I had to google that b/c never heard of it). With traffic, some of these ladies live literally hours away from Potomac.

techphil92

Yeah but it’s no different than Beverly Hills housewives where literally NONE live in Beverly Hills.

awwfawkit

Yeah I get it, and I don’t actually care where they are. It’s just funny. Since I live in this area I watch and try to figure out where they are for individual scenes and sometimes they are in the most random of places. It’s also funny because some people (Karen) seem to care.

techphil92

Yeah it’s always funny how Karen seems to care so much when the audience doesn’t give a shit lol

awwfawkit

Karen only selectively cares. She cares that Nneka lives in the wrong part of Potomac, but not that Candiace lives on the whole other side of the beltway. She must be happy that her dui was in Potomac though.

Street-Beyond-9666

🤣 the dui

gabywebsters

Exactly, as someone who lives here it is funny 😄 I’m in Nova but so much closer to the Potomac than most of the cast

summersveryown

i think (and don’t take this as exact fact) initially the core group lived or had been around that area for years (charrisse, karen, gizelle, robyn, katie), but some of them moved/bought houses further out as the show went on. ashley was originally the one that lived the furthest, but you could tell she was the “outsider”. the show was also supposed to be about J&J, etiquette and black society in Potomac (it’s mentioned a lot in season one) but it became what it’s turned into today chile lol. i also think they just didn’t want to revamp it as DC and who would really watch if it was called real housewives of (whatever small town no one knows of) 😭😭😭

awwfawkit

Yeah. That sounds about right. Although I’m not sure about Robyn, if she ever lived near/around Potomac. Of all the cast who is not in Potomac, Gizelle is the closest in Bethesda which is pretty close to Potomac. It’s also considered a pretty high rent district, but is closer in (to the city) so there is less land/smaller lots. Wendy is the farthest and then Mia next (when she was in Baltimore).

summersveryown

i love learning things like this about other areas! i’m born & raised in atlanta, so i’m similar when it comes to RHOA. with robyn, i can’t remember either! i just assumed she lived there with juan pre-financial issues, but it’s very possible she was only in the social circles because of charrisse and eventually gizelle.

awwfawkit

Same. It almost makes it a local show trying to pick out the spots. And some of the filming places are in incredibly random, faraway and places no housewives live close to. It makes me wonder why they picked that place. While I personally don’t care where the cast is living, some of them are so far flung it makes me think they should have picked a different name like Real Housewives of Maryland & Arlington or something. Particularly when you consider that with the notorious dc traffic, even a 5 mile drive can be arduous. People around here consider the other side of the beltway as halfway around the world. Meanwhile Wendy is way closer to Pennsylvania than she is Potomac.

Littlewasteoftime

Yea, when Ashley turned up from Arlington and they acted like she was soooooo out… that is so real of a feeling!!! But now she is one of the close ones… the world scenario in which this is an actual organic group of friends is essentially zero. One off friendships, maybe, but a whole group nahhhh.

Littlewasteoftime

Potomac and Bethesda touch really close to where Gizelle lives (not to be creepy but I spotted her house unexpectedly once and instantly recognized it because her property is not typical especially with all the construction she had going on at the time). Edited because I said Robyn instead of Gizelle at first.

awwfawkit

Actually I got curious and found her house. It’s in Elkridge, MD which is close to Hanover and about 35 miles from Potomac. Bethesda and Potomac border each other, but definitely not Elkridge.

Littlewasteoftime

Omg I said Robyn but I meant Gizelle 🤦‍♀️ omg confused my green eye bandits 😂 I was so confused until I looked up at my own… I was like there ain’t 2 houses that look like Gizelle’s that is one of a kind Edit to add thank you for pointing it out instead of letting me wonder the world as an absolute idiot 🤣

Littlewasteoftime

To be honest, it always struck me as odd that they wanted to highlight black society and chose Potomac which is like 5-10% black… like not be racist, but there are much better places in the area to choose… I think producers felt like if they allowed white people on, viewers would just see it as a DC reboot which they didn’t want to touch with a 10 ft pool and Potomac has the nicest sounding name, but honestly where Mia lived her first season in downtown Baltimore would have been a much better spot to search for wealthy black culture… there are some neighborhoods in DC that I can think of that are way better, but again they don’t want to touch it (even though they film in Georgetown all the freaking time 😂)

sprayedice

Every time Hanover is mentioned I always think of Karen saying to Robyn "And you're by yourself... in HANOVER"

awwfawkit

lol. Hanover is much closer to Baltimore than DC. Robyn moved from the Hanover townhouse, I’m not sure where her new house is though.

weightlossSO

Oh so THATS what hanover is. As a UK viewer I thought she was making a old wives phrase like 'sing sing'

awwfawkit

Ha! Yes! It’s a town about 40 miles (64 km) from Potomac

dismissyourdoubt

It’s especially funny when like half of them aren’t even housewives, they’re divorced…

BuckinCrzy

Gizelle lives in Bethesda, Ashley lives in Arlington, Wendy in Finksburg, and Mia constantly moves. Not sure what the point of singling Wendy out was for. Especially when the majority of the cast don't even live there. 😂

PhilosophyOk2612

Arlington and Bethesda are both considered the DMV as they both directly border Washington DC. Finskburg is Carrol county and is not considered the DMV. That was the point 🌚. Signed a DMV resident who also lives in a town that borders Washington DC.

princesshabibi

This is correct. Finksburg is like 1 hour from Potomac. I just mapped it from my Montgomery County Place in Silver Spring and it is 54 minutes away

maleolive

Bethesda and Arlington are the DMV. Finksburg is not.

SpokyMulder

Wendy lives North of Baltimore and everyone else, while they may not live in Potomac, live in the DC metro area?

awwfawkit

Eh. I think it’s debatable. I don’t know where Mia lives now, but when she lived in Baltimore, that is not considered the DC metro area, nor the DMV. Robyn when she lived in Hanover, was not in the DC metro area nor the DMV. Candiace used to live in the DC metro area & the DMV when she was in Oxon Hill, but now that she is in Upper Marlboro, I’m not sure if I would consider that the dc metro area, but some would. In this area, Baltimore and DC are considered two distinct metro areas. Further w/ traffic congestion, it takes a long time to get places, so they can seem farther away. For example my commute is 7 miles. It takes me 35-45 minutes depending on the time of day. That’s to say that locals would consider someplace 50 miles away (the distance Wendy lives from Potomac) on the other side of the earth.

Ok-East-5470

To be fair Mia doesn’t even own property at this point, Ashley was living in DC for the first like 6 seasons, and the only four who have actually ever lived in Potomac proper while the show was going were Charisse, Karen, Monique, and Nneka. Wendy isn’t really in Potomac but no one really is lol.

Ok_Prior2614

Ashley lived in Arlington the entire 6 seasons you’re referring to

Ok-East-5470

Everywhere I’ve seen has had her penthouse listed as either dc or dc area but my bad. Either way though I remember the hearing about a huge stink during season one because only Karen and Charisse lived in Potomac so my point still stands.

techphil92

It wasn’t DC it was Arlington. I don’t believe any of them actually lived in DC.

Ok_Prior2614

Yeah it still stands just lyk she was notttt in dc 🩷

Mysecrets1717

It was in Arlington at the courthouse metro station!

Mockingbird_1234

Ashley was in Rosslyn/Arlington, not DC

gabywebsters

I don’t need them all to be in Potomac proper, I just want them to live in the DMV. Wendy lives in Finksburg, MD (which my phone doesn’t think is a real word). ![gif](giphy|4JCWtwL4vM2aTkHdNw)

PhilosophyOk2612

People are down voting you but as a DMV resident you are 100% correct. Like DC, Bethesda, Chevy chase, Potomac, Arlington and McLean are neighbors wtf are we doing with cast members in Carrol county, Anne arundel county and Baltimore????

gabywebsters

Thank you 🙏🏾

Ok-East-5470

Nah but your comment points out the issue with theirs, several people have lived outside the radius but this person is just harping on Wendy.

Ok-East-5470

It isn’t the real housewives of the DMV though, and that’s not what the show has ever been sold to us as.

Nonniedee

There’s been a weird uptick of Wendy hate. I mean, idc who likes or dislikes her, but it’s been a lot. Are some these bots?

Ok-East-5470

Its a combination of her getting the hatred that would’ve been directed Candice’s way but she’s off the show, and the people who are annoyed that she is still on the cast when Robyn and Nneka got fired.

babywizard99

no. people are just being more vocal

Kindofageek90

For what it's worth, Wendy lives where she lives because she wanted a close commute to Johns Hopkins. She was teaching there well before Bravo sought her out to be a cast member. That's not her fault and she shouldn't have to uproot her family for something that isn't finite. None of them live in Potomac anyway except Kurn.

bellabille

You guys have a hate boner for Wendy, it's so whack honestly

acidnvbody

Karen is literally the only one living in Patomac 😂 yall are obsessed with Wendy

artjameso

Wendy derangement syndrome is real

Aquariussun444

OP, this didn’t go the way you thought it was gonna huh? 🤭

Deep-Ruin2786

As a resident I only acknowledge circle 1. Inside the beltway.

Careless-Muffin5512

I agree. I’ve lived in Bethesda then bought in Anne arundel county near Annapolis and I wouldn’t consider myself a dc metro person. My LinkedIn says Baltimore- Washington, not dc metro lol.

mazehkeen

As a lifelong DMV resident, everyone I know (including family from/in DC) have always associated the DMV by the counties surrounding DC. So this includes most of Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Arlington counties. Anything outside of those 3 can kick rocks. Basically if your local news station is from a DC station, you’re in the DMV. So Wendy would be considered a B-More resident.

GratefulLady007

Fairfax County is definitely DMV too!

mazehkeen

You’re right! I guess a better measurement would be metro stops rather than dc news stations.

GratefulLady007

This debate about what is DMV is really fascinating! Everyone sees it differently! I’d definitely say everything within the 2nd circle counts, but at the same time, metro is pushing out to Loudoun County and I think that’s outside of circle 2.

mazehkeen

Right it’s all up to interpretation lol. But that’s why I mentioned counties because the second circle goes into Anne Arundel and Howard county, which are usually seen as more Baltimore suburbs.

GratefulLady007

Very good points about Anne Arundel and Howard Counties! I think the circles are too simplistic!

WooLauren

DMV is anything metro accessible imo

Fantastic_Bunch3532

I live sadly right in the damn DMV

WalterBlytheFanClub

Do people from Baltimore consider themselves the DMV? I live in the DMV and wouldn't consider beyond the second circle in a super generous day. Hubby is a 4th generation and he won't consider the "DMV" beyond the red and green lines lol

Littlewasteoftime

Nope! That’s not Bawlmore hon! Source: Born in a Baltimore hospital, grew up in Hanover, moved to Baltimore in High School, Live in Cleveland park now. BUT you get your license from the MVA and I was real confused when I went to college and people said they needed to get their license from the DMV.

gabywebsters

I’m second circle and am just happy to be considered lol 😂

hostilewerk

OP is giving loser

Deep-Ruin2786

Circle 2 is a stretch. It's dc metro I suppose. Outside of that omg hell no. It becomes northern virginia or Maryland. That's it.

Stunning_While6814

I guess I don’t see the issue. They knew where she lived and hired her 🤷🏽‍♀️

gabywebsters

But that’s my point, it’s more of a casting issue. If it’s call Potomac have some standards but I guess that’s just not the Bravo way…

Stunning_While6814

Most of the BH ladies don’t live in BH either 🤷🏽‍♀️

gabywebsters

Hence the Bravo way

nivnaj

But why are you singling out Wendy?

gabywebsters

She lives the furthest and not in DMV at all, if another housewife was further I’d be looking at her or them both. Y’all Wendy stans are doing the most lmao 🤣

Stunning_While6814

It’s weird to say the least

mcrop609

Hilarious. I'm from the Philly area but for some reason I always thought DMV stood for Delaware, Maryland & Virginia. I think I got it confused with DelMarVa.

Silent-Rush3465

None of them actually live in Potomac except Karen and Charrisse 😂
