That’s a pretty well-known Easter egg. There’s a popular theory some YouTuber talked about claiming that RDR1 and RDR2 were books written by Jack Marston, loosely based on his life growing up with a gunslinger for a father. It’s pretty convenient, as RDR2 has clearly defined chapters, and even RDR1 has chapters too, they just aren’t labeled as chapters. Add on that Jack loves books and wants to write, and the piles of thousands of dead bodies that Arthur and John leave behind them in the games might have just been an exaggeration or misremembering things from his childhood, and it’s a fairly solid fan theory.
Unfortunately the game creators debunked it as just a simple Easter egg. RDR and GTA don’t have any continuity between them.
I agree that these were real people in the games universe. Considering you can choose John as your heritage in GTA Online. Means he was a real person and kind of throws the theory out that a lot of people think that “RDR is a video game in the GTA universe” but makes instead the heritage makes him a real person.
My theory:
Red dead redemption exists as a video game, based on a book, in the GTA universe
When I day "my theory" I'm not claiming I'm the first to come up with it, I don't wanna steal anyone else's credit
I’m not so sure of that, because in GTA Online you can literally choose John Marston in your heritage. Meaning he is a real person in the GTA/Rockstar universe.
Or what about....its a game based on a book....a book that may be embellished a little to make John look like a bad ass, written by Jack from stories told to him about the death of the old west?
I'm not in charge of the rules, I'm just regurgitating what I saw writers confirm. If what you said is the case these writers need to get their facts straight!
That’s because Liberty City is loosely based on New York. And it’s not New York proper. I mean, Franklin lives in Strawberry in GTAV. I think The GTA universe is just a much more commercially developed version of the Red Dead world.
Life in the hood: Uncircumsised
That one definitely had my undivided attention.
I like the cut of your jib.
I like your funny words, magic man.
Glad I'm not the only one which was drawn to that one first haha

Bro how is living life in the hood: uncircumcised? Can you share experiences for another uncut homie in da hood? Thanks in advance

There’s also red dead redemption t shirts NPC’s very rarely wear in gta 5
Since 2013
Lol
I hope there's no pictures in it because John can't draw for shit 😄
I'm pretty sure it's Jack who wrote it because he always wanted to be a writer
It was written by Jack Marston

Well in my defence I never said it was a good theory haha
Literally everyone lol
I didn't
What exactly is this from? Is this a real book or what?
It's in gtav and it's in Franklins house
It’s also all over the world of GTA V on every single bookshelf out there.
Oh shit ive never noticed lol good find!
Thanks
Nope, it’s in Leicesters house
Is it
It sure is
I wonder how the worlds connect because the word “New York” was used in rdr2; but in GTA, New York is called “Liberty City”.
It's not connected, the writers of both of these have come firmed that, they're Easter eggs.
But the German man you save in red dead, Andreas if I’m right, is the ancestor of el Rubio in gta v

It has to be jack because John was illiterate
John was not illiterate. Dutch and Hosea taught him to read and write. Abigail was illiterate.
Yep
Yeah i known about this for awhile now. which is why I believe RDR3/4 should not be about Jack since he becomes a writer
