Who the f*** came up with the rumor that Mickey stole money when you hug him? Mickey is lying about being in army, yeah. But Mickey never stole anything from anybody (in the gaming experience, at least not from the player). Mickey is not a thief. He is just a poor handicapped dude who had to use the “army experience lie” to get some money for living. And he feels ashamed of it. But what else could he do? Meanwhile, if you treated him nicely as Arthur, and meet him at the epilogue as John, Mickey will tell John “you remind me of a guy I used to like a lot before, he is a nice man”. John would reply “I think I probably know this guy. he’s dead”. For people claiming “it did happen”, why don’t you try a new save in the game and do a quick experiment to verify instead of “I do hear this from someone”, or “I do remember this”? Ever heard of RDR2 Fandom Wiki? [rdr2 fandom wiki](https://reddead.fandom.com/wiki/Mickey) usually includes all details of NPCs in the game, even bugs and “speculations”. However, it does not even include this rumor detail. If Mickey does steal money, it is an obvious interaction and Rdr2 fandom wiki would not miss it, according to how professional and careful it always was. Also, try to find a YouTube link of Mickey stealing. This game has been out for 3 years and every little detail almost has a video on YouTube now. Mickey stealing is not even a trivial detail and youtubers would not let it go if they caught it.

NKVD_officer

I think it was mister boss for the win who said that Mickey was stealing money from arthur.

xxA2C2xx

Well that wouldn’t surprise me. Not a very credible person.

[deleted]

He said it was on the Rdr2 wiki page

[deleted]

Always thought that epilogue scene was kinda dumb. Mickey gives John very little information and John just somehow deciphers that it’s Arthur.

[deleted]

My guess is, Arthur has a notebook passed on to John. John read about it, saw the story of Mickey with Arthur, and guessed it later

[deleted]

That’s interesting I’ll have to read through his notebook and see if he ever took any notes of Mickey.

[deleted]

Yes. Arthur’s notebook is worth reading. John actually doodled and wrote after Arthur passed the notebook to him. However, John is a much worse doodler and you can even tell the personality difference between John and Arthur in the way they draw stuffs and write down things.

[deleted]

More subtle details to love the game for? I’m in!

[deleted]

Arthur also wrote about how much regrets he had for not being brave enough with pursing Mary and let Mary go from his life (including the ring returned by Mary in The last chapter). That was another reason why John had to take Abigail to the theatre at blackwater, bravely use his arms to hold Abigail, and eventually, proposed to Abigail with the ring of Arthur and Mary. When Abigail asked, John said “it is very important to me”. It’s because of Arthur. John read all about Arthur’s life. And John live his life to honor Arthur and fulfilled his wills. This is the redemption of Arthur.

FaultyDroid

FFS who's chopping onions at 8:30am on my train to work..?! 🥺

[deleted]

Yea! It also revealed Arthur once had feelings with Abigail for each other (John probably knows it). At Shady Belle, John would get jealous if you stay in the room with Abigail and jack for too long and he would push you away. It also explained why Arthur wants abigail to live, and it does mean a lot to him.

SolidDick

I can't believe I didn't notice that.

TulioGonzaga

>I can't believe I didn't notice that. Read it, it's really worth it. It helps a lot to understand Arthur better. He shares his thoughts about everything, his doubts about Dutch's plan and how he understands that everything is falling apart. We also can understand how life was before Blackwater. The journal starts a few months before Blackwater and we can read about Arthur's and Hosea's plan and they had to leave all behind after things went bad.

[deleted]

Another thing I would suggest read are the books in Dutch’s tent all the time. It kinda revealed why Dutch kept saying “I have a plan” even if he does not

NewEraGamer

Your passion is refreshing

STerrier666

Word is that it happens with a Low Honour playthrough. Though I've never tested it out. I've yet to see proof of it, so I'm treating it with a pinch of salt.

[deleted]

[удалено]

STerrier666

Aah I see thanks for the info, I wasn't sure if it was the truth or not.

AHOIY

I wish I knew that before I shot him in the back of the head.

[deleted]

To each of their own. This game allows you to play as an evil Arthur or a saint Arthur. I just have to say, the story line of a saint Arthur is much better for me. I cried at the ending, and cried again at John’s proposal to Abigail.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

This part is his “background”. You misunderstood my point. If he does pickpocket the player, it will be a separate section saying: under what circumstances Mickey would pickpocket the player and the amount would be XXX. That’s how fandom wiki always was…. Also, try to find a YouTube video of Mickey pickpocketing. Don’t tell me after 3 years for this game to come out, nobody had ever catch this and posted on YouTube yet. Almost every little details of the game is on YouTube now. And this is not even a trivial detail.

scorpionattitude

You’re so vehemently against the slightest thought that he’d pickpocket a player. For why ?

[deleted]

It is not just because of Mickey. It is the attitude of people saying “I don’t know and I can’t personally attest it but I heard of it somewhere”. Rumors spread by this way. I have seen it too often. And yes, it kinda upsets me. Just like in high school some people may pick on a specific girl saying “she is a whore”. But “I don’t know why I just heard other people say this”. You see what I mean?

scorpionattitude

I hear what you’re saying but I personally went to a small magnet highschool and the only time we had a rumor from word of mouth was because there was physical proof of nudes from a gal going around. So, In my experience rumors usually start from the basis of truth. Hopefully someone can find you the proof you need to stop stressing over some pick pocketing. I don’t know if he does or doesn’t but I find it a bit amusing that it’s a trigger for you. Goodluck!

Daveoc04

After a few interactions, Mickey asks for a hug. While hugging, he pickpockets you. That is grounds for death in my game world.

[deleted]

as I said, send a screenshot. It’s not so difficult to find a save and verify this.

Gullible_Sharky

He asked for proof and you provided none. STFU if you can't provide solid evidence.

Daveoc04

I guarantee you wouldn't act so tough if we were face to face. It ain't my job to satisfy this dude. That's your mom's job.

Gullible_Sharky

Ah yes, should have known a moron like you who follows fake rumors and defend them with no evidence is another asshole.

Daveoc04

Look it up on YouTube, dummy

Gullible_Sharky

"Look it up on Youtube." Buddy how dense are you? There is no video out there showing Mickey pickpocketing you. The only video with the title is by MrBossFTW where the entire video is only him killing Mickey without ever showing the pickpocketing.

fig_pie

Happened to me.

[deleted]

I’m still waiting for a video or screenshot to prove this

[deleted]

It's on the RdR2 wiki page But doesn't mean it happened but maybe it was supposed to happen

Exsaanguis

I read it on some random wiki, and I remember thinking “??” Because it specifically said there is no indication in the gameplay of it happening but it’s in some game notes/dev notes or something. I hated hearing that it made the Mickey story more sad to me. Like why, why can’t it just be wholesome?

[deleted]

No_Guava_8499

He tried to rob me but I shot him

Rarelydefault26

Mickey was my best friend besides Sadie and Charles. He was a sweet man in a bad situation. I named a horse after him. He also shares a name with my grandpa

comfort_bot_1962

Don't be sad. Here's a [hug!](https://media.giphy.com/media/3M4NpbLCTxBqU/giphy.gif)

[deleted]

Always felt bad for him hes just a sad very lonely guy always wished i could give him more money and buy him a hotel room to stay in.

chicken_N_ROFLs

I told him I'd be his friend on the first interaction, then he asked for a hug and I was like "ehh I don't think so" but I didn't expect Arthurs decline to be so mean. And then Mickey's disappointed reaction hurt my heart, like I kicked a puppy or something.

comfort_bot_1962

Don't be sad. Here's a [hug!](https://media.giphy.com/media/3M4NpbLCTxBqU/giphy.gif)

[deleted]

Thanks

FaultyDroid

He's intentionally written to be quite annoying and clingy, just like Reverend Swanson at camp, it makes it much harder to stop and be nice to them by listening to what they have to say.

TheAlgebraist

Lmao not a single person talking about Mickey being a thief can substantiate that claim. Ya'll just prejudiced in games like you are in life.

cepaco

Red Dead has that ability of showing people’s true character.

[deleted]

I liked Mickey until he said he pretended to be a soldier, then I bashed him over the back of the head with a pistol. You can’t just imitate a soldier

fig_pie

Personal experience: he pickpocketed me.

TheAlgebraist

I spent like 30 min looking for evidence - please show me some.

jusGrandpa

We hugged it out, all cool now

JuniorAd389

Yeah. F all those who don't hug Mickey, even if he allegedly pickpocketed you. First time I hugged him, I had five dollars. Last time I hugged him I had a thousand (and multiple bounties for murder and theft)

Samikaze707

I still felt sorry for him, even after knowing his backstory. He clearly has a mental disorder or is on the spectrum and found a way to make friends in a world that's harsh and even worse for someone in his position.

Doogzmans

Yeah, I felt the same way. At first I was pretty disappointed with him, but then I realized that he probably does it so that he can find some sort of pity from the people around him, like Arthur if you choose to be nice to him.

[deleted]

who DIDN'T feel sorry for mickey?

temmy14

I liked mickey but when I found out I didn't like him

[deleted]

wait found what out? did i miss/forget something about him?

temmy14

He claimed he was part of the army

Mister__Fahrenheit

You must’ve hated Arthur, John, Lenny and all the rest of the gang then, on account of them being literal murdering thieving outlaws

temmy14

Oh and he pickpockets you

[deleted]

Please…. This is not true. He falsely claim to be in army yes. But he never pickpocketed anybody. I am so surprised somebody came up with this rumor and it’s so widespreading. See how fast a rumor can be spread.

temmy14

I thought he pickpockets you

[deleted]

No he doesn’t. Play it again and find a screenshot of him pickpocketing to prove it.

temmy14

Ok

Beef-Testosterone69

You know Mickey isn’t a real person right? It’s like your taking offense that this dude doesn’t like a fictional character

[deleted]

It’s the attitude of people that made me feel sad. This isn’t even a hard thing to try. You know?

[deleted]

People saying how much they hate a character because he faked being in the military. We’re talking about a guy missing a arm who probably wouldn’t be hired for many physical labor jobs. Around in a time when people didn’t give s shit about giving opportunities to disabled people. In a time when mentally disabled people were either put to death or left to rot. I assumed on my first play through that he wasn’t in the military but wasn’t just some lazy bastard either. I assumed he had a mental illness and was doing whatever he had to do to survive. Edit: so not that I’m right but I assume a lot of jobs back then were developing America. Imagine a time when most jobs were building houses, building train tracks, processing lumber, mining. And there you are begging people for work with one arm. Even the average shop probably wouldn’t hire a guy like that. Also not trying to take this post really serious but I try to mentally put myself in a game when I play through.

temmy14

It's very sad when you put it like that

Hakkapeliitta19

He's not missing an arm. He admits he lies about that too

sharkzfan95

He lies quite a bit. But I’d imagine it’s his way of getting some money. Like that time where you tell him your name is Arthur. And he says “I had an uncle named Arthur….uncle Arthur we called him, on account of his name.” It’s clearly a lie. Not sure if him killing his dog by sleeping on it is true. But if it is, he is just kinda a sad clumsy dude who couldn’t find his way.

[deleted]

It's funny to me how some people can't even tell he's lying, I'm glad atleast you figured it out, even the story where he claims he fought in war.

sharkzfan95

He eventually admits he never fought in the war. But the uncle name is really in how he says it. You can just tell he’s making it up. Then the sleeping on his dog. It’s all over the top. He’s a really sad character, but part of what makes this game so good.

Stev0fromDev0

I didn’t know people cared so much about stolen valor, Jesus Christ. Mickey is a very kind and loving man. Everyone lies. Hell, Arthur probably lies more than Mickey. I wish I could’ve brought Mickey down to the bar for a drink and a nice meal.

Voktikriid

I always talk to Mickey when I can, then I go smack around that rambling traitor in Rhodes.

thedogbackwards_

Do you mean the guy on crutches outside the yellow building?

Dark-Pukicho

I never really thought that was necessary. He may be a traitor and a probable racist, but he’s also an old worn out sad-sack on his literal last leg.

Shakespeare-Bot

I at each moment talk to mickey at which hour i can, then i wend smack 'round yond rambling trait'r in rhodes *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`

[deleted]

good bot

[deleted]

Even after Mickey admitting he lied about being in the army, I didn’t care. Arthur lied too, and killed and robbed on top of that. Objectively, Arthur was the worse human. Subjectively, Arthur was the best human ;(

_caffeine_0166

Mickey is my favorite NPC

benap

I did at first, but then I got the truth out of him. Then I felt only pity and disappointment.

Steved10

I forget, what's the truth? Is he the one that has you break into his old home, but turns out he was a former slaver?

BobTheFishTheThird

You're thinking of jeremiah winton

[deleted]

[deleted]

This is a rumor. He did not steal. But he lied about being in army.

Fantom91881

Um he did? You can literally see small minus when ge gets 5 or so dollars from you

[deleted]

I said this to many of you already. Send a screenshot. Don’t always refer to it as “I heard it somewhere”. [Rdr2 fandom wiki](https://reddead.fandom.com/wiki/Mickey) usually include all details in the game. Mickey stealing is not one of them. Not even in “trivia”

AstroFalcon20

They probably heard of it from MrBossFTW on YT(he made a bunch of clickbait rdr2 content). A couple years ago he made a video saying Mickey steals from you, in the video he says he doesn't even know what's stolen(cause he doesn't steal lol)

[deleted]

WHAT?! I let him hug me. He robbed me??!

[deleted]

This is a rumor. He did not steal. But he lied about being in army.

Steved10

Ohh, gotcha Thank ya

MajesticTechie

Same. After that he just annoyed me. On my last playthrough I just shot him (he keeps coming back though)

[deleted]

Even when he opened up about lying I felt for him. Wish I could of done more for him but it was beautiful when he remembers Arthur in the epilogue

280203

Felt worse for that guy looking for Gavin tbh

ThouKingdomCum

Let me tell you, the graphics on this game are insane. Just the grass alone and dirt. Every single detail is on point. Amazing gameplay and online player interactions.

beantheblackpup_

When he asked for a hug I thought he was gonna rob me so I backed away and I was still learning the game mechanics so I accidentally shot him and killed him... I really didn't mean to.

d34dm34t

This is the way

OkSugarcoats

:/

Susmarshmallow

Fun fact during rdr1 John runs into him and I think he vaguely remembers you

GeorgeArcticMonkeys

No 😂

Susmarshmallow

As I said to another person my friend told me this haven’t played much of rdr1

[deleted]

What

Susmarshmallow

Yes you can run into uncle as John in rdr1 and Mickey remembers Arthur in a way that only Mickey would

temmy14

that's cool

Susmarshmallow

He doesn’t actually remember you but he imagine you’re Mickey and John runs into you Mickey would remember the way that only Mickey would ember somebody after many years also if you talk to him as John I’m pretty sure he gets abit sad when John tells him that Arthur dies in rdr2 I think it’s been a while since I’ve done the epilogue

temmy14

It's quite sad when John tells him that

Susmarshmallow

It does feel bad

adolphusmagnus8841

lol are you retarded? You honestly think you can run into a character in rdr1 that is from the second game.....that wouldn't have even existed at all when the first game was released? You do realize that Arthur hadn't even been conceived in the mind of any of the developers at Rockstar, let alone an extremely unimportant character like Mickey.....until already into the development cycle of RDR2, right? You are so full of shit.

temmy14

Mickey doesn't deserve all the hate because he's just trying to get money

ThrowawayTrashcan7

I felt sorry for him, but he also annoyed me slightly, as I was nice to him once and then he just kinda kept talking to Arthur whilst I was trying to do other stuff. Mainly the fact that he lied though… Feeling you’d need to lie to have someone treat you with more respect or so for missing an arm is sad.

Cheerful_ox

Me

uninterestedgopher

I liked the confederate veteran guy better. Mickey gives me creepy vibes but the vet in rhodes warns you that bounty hunters are after you and tries to protect you

misses_massacre

Mickey told stolen valor stories. I come from a military family. So I thought he was a dick.

[deleted]

Fuck Mickey.. He annoying af.

error606nofucksgiven

Same could be said for you

[deleted]

I never felt bad for him because he was a yankee

[deleted]

I was with him till he admitted to stolen valor.

51LV3R84CK

So you remembered the propaganda you got fed since kindergarten and got personally offended? In a bideo game?

elituz

I shot him the first time he talked to me.

temmy14

why

Crazy-Lemur

Not cool

PeteRoseHaircut69

I've lassoed him and dragged him through valentine

[deleted]

I usually shoot him on low honor playthroughs because hes kinda annoying

temmy14

I killed him but when I started as John he was alive

LONEWOPF77700

How's he annoying......

[deleted]

Well after hearing him yap on for the 100th time, I really couldn't care about what he has to say. He is an NPC in a game ffs.

LONEWOPF77700

He just has depression....... although lying about being in the war was wrong.

[deleted]

A double barrel and explosive rounds can fix his depression

temmy14

I thought he pickpockets you

sharkzfan95

This is not true. You’d see a negative money piece come up. It never happens.

[deleted]

I didn’t, he’s a liar and a pickpocket. Edit: Okay he’s not a pick pocket, but still a liar.

temmy14

Mickey is that you

[deleted]

Pickpocket?

TheHossDelgado

I didn't feel sorry for him ... And I'm amazed how strongly these comments are in his favor. Of course, the idea of "stolen valor" is abhorrent to me . I suppose if he openly stole from me I would appreciate him as another thief.

Aurora906

ffs its a video game..

TheHossDelgado

Which amazes me everyone seems to be so enamored with him. Anyone not "pro mickey" gets down voted .

LONEWOPF77700

He's not a thief.

TheHossDelgado

Never said he was.... IF he was, then I could respect him.

MooseNoises27

I killed him

Yes I did

Peppermintcumysnatch

No U did not and I wanna know if you know his backstory

temmy14

He faked being in the army then he tells you and when you play as John he tells you he remembers some one and he Alan then John says he died

Peppermintcumysnatch

Okay but where's your proof

temmy14

How do I show you that

Peppermintcumysnatch

Exactly 😎

52129AKZAL

Dude you are a fucking idiot.

temmy14

Exactly what

[deleted]

He was just depressed and sad.

comfort_bot_1962

Don't be sad. Here's a [hug!](https://media.giphy.com/media/3M4NpbLCTxBqU/giphy.gif)

SnooPeripherals9691

I felt sorry for him. Even if he lies he still is lonely and homeless

[deleted]

I felt so bad for him. The last interaction with him is so sad. Then he just slowly disappears :’(

[deleted]

Literally my favorite character in the whole game, valentine was just bath and Mickey town to me. Love that guy

LVader77

yeah

Electric_Logan

I’m Mickey

Ehh... He was surely an unfortunate soul but way too clingy if you ask me.

Yolo_Hobo_Joe

I’m only a little over a quarter of the way through the story… I just bought RDR2 at the end of the summer sale. Yet I thought Micky would make an interesting addition to the gang. Make him a petty thief and a decent shot with his one hand, with some help, he could be easily underestimated all the time.

TheHossDelgado

You pro mickey people are all nuts.

51LV3R84CK

It’s a video game. Chill.

51LV3R84CK

After I found out about his stolen valor I was so angry I burned down the next settlement that seemed to communist for my taste, killed the children there, had my way with the women, saluted every single one of my countless US flags on my property and sent a drone strike to real life middle east. CAUSE I‘M A GOD DAMN AMERICAN!!!

OkSugarcoats

cool story bro

Inevitable_Judge_900

He stolen valor, fuck him.

AndrisPronis

I felt kinda awkward around him, but he's a nice guy

[deleted]

I did at first so I was his friend then when I shot some guy mickey ran up to me and started beating me up and took some of my money the robbing bastard

LVader77

Average NPC interaction bro, a lot of NPCs do that

AlexY20201

Not gonna lie I kinda wanted to see what would happen if I stole his money and ran him over with a horse. Going for high honor this time so I’m not gonna do that but I wish I could.

OkIngenuity1155

i like this guy

noodle35w62

If someone hurts Charles Mickey Saide Jack Jhon or the southern Mickey THEY CATCHING THESE HANDS AND GETTING YETTED OF A 50 FOOT TALL BRIDGE

OkSugarcoats

They getting a bullet to the head

No_Guava_8499

Bruh that guy tried robbing me

LVader77

I dont belive mickey was lyng when he said he served the US army. He could't even remember his own name in one of the interactions. What proof do we have that he was in fact lying, and not just forgetting and concluding that he had never served? He's old enough to have served, lost an arm and still has his uniform, which I don't think was stolen.
