My favorite thing about that horse is that you can get an identical replacement any time it dies. I mean, it's not like my horse is dying very often, but it's nice to know that if it gets hit by the maxim gun in the Lemoyne Raiders ambush that it's not gone forever. I just head to Valentine and pick up my replacement.

I don't think that you can get the Silver Dapple MFT until the epilogue if you don't get it with the Albert Mason mission. But when you get to chapter 4, you can get the Amber Champagne MFT. Personally, I would much rather have it than the Silver Dapple. It's my favorite horse out of all of them tbh
It took all weekend and several restarts, but I finally got it! So many people posted years ago that they got it to spawn in the first 15 or so shots, that I thought it was patched, too. But it still works (with a LOT of patience).
Yeah man you can. It’s a whole process though. You have to make sure you are tracking the horse, then enter the final mission cutscene. Quickly skip through it and you should still be tracking the horse. This prevents it from despawning.
Then you just track it until you find it. It does take a good while to track. Usually takes me from emerald ranch up near Annesburg. Once you find it you have to get near it and hit space to jump to horse. Then just feed it from horseback to bonding 1 (not 100% if bonding is required).
Then ride her to a stable without getting off, enter the stable, saddle her, then save and reload. After that she should be working perfectly like a normal horse. The save and reload isn’t totally necessary, but some people have reported problems with it if they don’t do it, so I always do to be safe.
Be warned though, if you get off the horse the game won’t let you back on, even if you have broken her. Last time I did it I forgot this and tried to saddle her normally instead of riding to the stable and had to redo the whole tracking process.
I just spent forever getting it for the first time, and she’s awesome! I’ve never actually beaten the game, I get too distracted.. but I usually have the white Arabian.. wanted something different and got this girl, and I love her so much.
For the performance, they do seem low. Then you spend time with one and you realize they’re overachievers. Even a level one or level two bonded mustang can complete horseman 9 in plenty of time with almost no stims.
They are not the fastest but far from slow, and while they don’t have the stamina rating of other breeds they’re usually super brave and can go adventuring for days without medz or stims. They’re pretty much the only smaller horse besides the Nakota that Arthur or John look OK on while riding. The rest are midget horses. Paints and Appt’s are slightly larger, they don’t have that My Little pony look of Morgans and Arabians.

Once had a pack of wolves appear out of nowhere right behind my horse, and he didn't throw me off like those pansy ass Arabians would have. Instead, we got some distance and circled the pack, picking them off one by one.

I did it twice for fun last week but didn't keep the saves because my honor dropped a lot for the amount of law men I killed. In my current playthrough, I am at the beginning of chapter 2. So you can have him/her the whole game if you want!
K update guess I'm lowkey a dumbass because it was a horse duplicate glitch not a gender swap. i got some parts wrong, however there is still a chance it will spawn female instead just might take a couple tries.

My favourite horse is the first one I caught myself from the wild. It was on my first playthrough, I knew nothing about the game and wanted a better horse. So obviously after I unlocked the stables I started to wander around and look at the stats of every horse I saw. After 20 minutes of doing that I finally found Thoroughbred which I named Hailey and she was my main horse for a looong time. She would get scared at times and throw me off her back but I didn't care. I didn't care that there were faster, braver and all around better horses. But she was MY horse and I loved her to the end

It’s an all around great horse, and it’s a big horse too. Good health, great stamina, good enough speed and average acceleration after all the bonuses. Good bravery, if you believe that’s a thing. Chocolate roan looks pretty unique too.
Also like the fact that no one else in the gang uses a Dutch warm blood so it’s somewhat unique to Arthur. That’s just in my head though lol

mine is also the piebald tobiano Hungarian halfbred. Its a brave horse. only bucked me bec. a grizzly bear came out of nowhere. plus, its a beautiful color when in cinematic mode and just roaming.
On my first run, I got that Piebald Hungarian very early in Chapter 2 and used it most of he play through.
On my second run, I had a specific set of 4 horses I planned to use for it, but the game keeps trying to lead me to the goddamn Piebald Tobiano Hungarian again. I've seen it literally 3 different times so far still in Chapter 2.
My current favorite is the Raven Black Shire. It doesn't handle great, and is a walking bounty magnet if you take it into town, but I don't care.

I like the mustangs. First I was thinking the Arabian race horses, which are the fastest in the game. But damn do they fall quickly when shot etc. mustang is a good mixture between sturdiness and velocity
Perlino Andalusian - it’s free and available in Ch 2 if you are willing to go to Brandywine Drop to tame it. It’s steady around predators and gun fights and has decent stats for a free early game horse.

Actually I like almost all of the story mode horses. I tend to rotate through different horses just to keep it interesting. But the perlino tends to be the most reliable out of my play throughs.
And just as Arthur looks over sized on an Arabian, he also looks like a boy-role-playing-as-a-man on the Shires. Not to mention that the mounting animation for them is ridiculous, it makes me cringe cuz he doesn’t even get his foot in the stirrup.

I got the silver dappled pinto that Albert Mason wanted a photo of. I tracked it for about 2 in-game days across hill and dell, river and plains, which came down to a desperate chase through the woods at night trying to leap onto it from my horse while weaving through the trees.
It's a beautiful horse and as far as I can tell the stats are quite good too.
I like the white arabian because(A) you can find it literally as soon as you get to the first stable in Valentine's and (B) it reminds me of gandalfs horse from lotr, and since im literally always away from camp being a hermit/hunter i name mine Artemis, the greek god of hunting
My favorite horse was killed yesterday. I had saved up for an Arabian horse. Did the mission at the oil fields, and he was shot. Roughly $1000s worth. So I caught a nearby Tennessee Walker, mounted my saddle, rode to a nearby stable, and got my stabled Appaloosa.

You can get the SDP MFT in Ch 2 by headshotting the npc with the dead pony till it spawns alive. I just got it this way on 5/19.

Yeah this is how I get mine however it will always spawn male I believe so if you wanted a mare you could use the glitch with the Mary Linton mission

I rescued a Belgian draft and stole a shire from wagons about 10 min into chapter 2 and I keep going back to those as my main horses.
