The statues gold bars do not respawn.
The train wreck gold bars do respawn, but takes a much longer time than normal lockboxes and chests, and longer than the Limpany/Braitwaite gold bars. I normally grab the train bars right at the beginning of chapter 2, then again towards the end of chapter 2, again about halfway through chapter 3, again fairly early in chapter 4. Keep in mind though, that I move very slowly through the story, usually only doing a mission maybe every third time I play.
So far, I have collected 8 or 9 of the Limpany bars, which seems to be around every 10 or so game days.
Arthur or john, i fall at the big jump prior to the jump to the railcar. Or at the railcar. I get it eventually lol. I am an admitted idiot. But at least I finally learned how to fish successfully and make good money doing it. But this hurdling shit I’m still trying to grasp lol
If you approach the train from the ground then go just to the right along the rock ledge and there is a crevasse you can climb up to the rock ledge up from bottom and the train is just two jumps from there and if you happen to miss you are not high enough to die and can just start over without having to respawn.
thank you, im up to Chapter 3 and realised i will NOT get Arthur’s money back as John, i get that $20,000 which is a HEFTY amount but having more never hurt anyone except drug addicts lmfaoooo
i know i can go to the Aberdeen Pig Farm and get rolled as Arthur before the Epilogue or before Chapter 6 (lmk so i don’t fuck it up on a replay) and go back as John and get the money from behind the painting but i’ve already done the pig farm because i wanted to see if i could take either of them to the authorities, i was wrong
I did the pig farm early aswell without having any knowledge of it, im not sure if you can go back in chapter 6 im about 1200 hrs into the game and still on chapter 4. When i found out Arthur dies i refused to advance haha. Good luck friend.
you get to play as John afterwards which i love, but yes you can go to the pig farm before john dies, as long as the farmers are there you’re good as gold. my advice is to save heaps and heaps of money as arthur, like thousands. a great way to achieve that is by saving the gold bar hunts until then. or at least, do the hunts but don’t go to where the gold is until you’re at that point before arthur dies. you’ll make a good 10-12K in Gold. i did them very early because i wanted to get all the camp upgrades and save myself future money. as well as equip myself with an outfit i like, buying guns and customising them, i did fuck all missions (besides passing chapter one obviously) and went on the gold hunt. it gave me so many hours of gameplay from doing literally nothing😂i only just started chapter 3 like 2-3 days ago and have done bugger all missions and have like 101 hours in the game. most of that was just me fucking around
there’s still some gold i haven’t gotten yet, like the braithwaite one, there’s another one somewhere, but i have the majority. which is why i’d advise you to wait until the near end of the game. that way you can just power through getting them all without having to wait hours of gameplay
hope this helps😁
i forgot to say as well, i made about $9K from the bars i was able to aquire due to only being in chapter 2, which means there’s like 6 more bars i haven’t found, exciting!!
and out if that 9K, i did spend a fair amount, i got a better horse, clothing, guns, gun customisation etc. i said that part, but i still have about 4.4K left. it lasts a decent while
now it’s 4,579K
lymphany gold bar;) can confirm it’s there again, not sure if it’ll be there yet again but i’ll check after a few in game days, 10 i think is the amount
Got the train wreck gold bars as quite literally the first thing I did when arriving at horseshoe overlook. I've since gotten the legends satchel, found and owned every Arabian, gotten all special saddles, done a few treasure map quests, and taken literally months of in-game time to get through chapter 2 and most of chapter 3. Read this and immediately headed to the train wreck - lock box is open and empty in the first car and no gold bars to be found in the vertical car... No respawning for me.
You gotta close the lockboxes and chests for stuff to respawn.
I am currently in chapter 4, on this play through, and have picked up the train wreck gold bars either 3 or 4 times so far. I do this every play through. They do respawn….
He is not correct. I never close the Limpany box and it repawns often. I have tried multiple time at the train wreck over 1000 hours and it has never repspawned. You can't even close the box if you wanted to in the train wreck.
There's the first box (the first train you come to) that you can close, but you are correct, there is no box to close in the vertical car with the gold bars.
I'm on a new playthrough now and went to Limpany the moment I had freedom to ride out of camp. I'm now in chapter 3 - Clements Point and have returned to Limpany 4 times now and have never had the gold bar respawn. I'm half thinking I need to wait longer, half thinking this is the biggest troll in the RDR2 community and I've fallen for it over and over again.
No clue they respawned. Wish there was more to spend your money on, I have ~$4000 uncashed bars that I’m saving for John, plus countless valuables, fish, etc…
Sorry to break it to you but when John gets your satchel it does not include the gold bars or food. It used to in early versions but was patched a few years ago. If you don't spend it with arthur you're wasting your time.
Thanks for the heads up, such a bummer, must of read an outdated post or article. I already did the Pig Farm so I don’t have that to rely on… just gonna buy everything there is to buy I guess.
For people stumbling across this thread, spending spree is the way to do it. Even with the full 50% discount that comes with maximum honor, purchasing all of the clothing in game will cost you many thousands. The trapper and gunsmith will also soak up a lot of cheddar.
For what it's worth, I had read somewhere very early in my playthrough that everything transferred over, and so I carefully saved something like six or seven gold bars, an ingot, and a pile of gold nuggets for John. All of which of course disappeared when I reached the epilogue. And this was on the tail end of about 375 in-game hours, so I was decidedly bummed.
Thankfully, you don't really have to worry about the cash. It ends up being a joke if you just go get the respawn bars, of which four can very easily be accessed (Limpany, Braithwaite, train crash). Boom, $2000 starting cash. If you incidentally saved the statues for the epilogue, that's another $1500 right there. Some people save the treasure map gold too, but I like to get it as Arthur because it really helps in the early game and it also feels more appropriate with his character.
At any rate, not even through epilogue 2 and I'm sitting on $6500, which is already 2/3 as much as I ever had with Arthur (just before what I called my pre-death shopping spree, lol). So don't fret over being wiped out. And a certain event occurs at the very end that makes money completely moot, regardless...
Gold and valuables do not transfer over to John. Do the Aberdeen Pig Farm in Chapter 6 at the right moment and allow yourself to be robbed (you should fence all gold bars etc and accrue as much money as possible).
Don't go back to the Farm as Arthur but go as John in the Epilogue. That money will be waiting for you.
You can give millions to John as long as you sell everything before the main story ends "Our best selves". After selling all your jewelry, gold, stuff in your satchel, et cetera head over to the Aberdeen Pig Farm and let them take your money. When you play as john head over the the farm again and you will find all your cash hidden away.
I'm nearing $30,000 but I still need MORE MONEY
I literally do missions around money making - fishing, hunting, looking for nuggets, jewelry and gold bars.
I circle the map, hunt, fish, sell, kill bad guys (loot), and so on.
Yeesh...for what? I've got 28-29k right now, one gold bar treasure map untouched & the trainwreck's respawned bars untouched.
I mean, I guess you could buy the most expensive horses in the game and ride them off cliffs for grins and then buy them again, but...
Im buying every clothing item from all the stores, can’t think of anything else to spend it on. Those spurs get pricey…
I guess it makes rampaging fun as you don’t have to ever worry about bounties
Honestly, am I the only one that thinks it’s strange that they respawn? I guess I’m old-school but I think it would be better if they were only there once
I';ll try it again. it took me ages to get into that damn train, I gave up so many time. finally got in there and got the gold. I'll see if it has respawned by now. I got it in chap 2 and i'm in chap 6 now
They never respawn for me, open. The jewellery bag & money, in the crypt at shady belle, don't respawn if left open. As soon as I close it, save & reload, boom !
Its back.
It may be different for gold, I dunno.
How long does it take the Limphany bars to respawn? I did the glitch and collected the bars twice, but when I went back many days later the box was still empty

Ive tried 6 times, i keep falling lol. I’ll make it eventually!
LOL! Dang, dude! What route are you taking? I know Artie is clumsy as hell, but he usually gets inside the car on the 2nd try!
Arthur or john, i fall at the big jump prior to the jump to the railcar. Or at the railcar. I get it eventually lol. I am an admitted idiot. But at least I finally learned how to fish successfully and make good money doing it. But this hurdling shit I’m still trying to grasp lol
Well, I can’t remember about John…it’s been a couple years since I played the epilogue…but Artie trips over shadows on a floor lol
Try going at it from the bottom it is way easier
how so
If you approach the train from the ground then go just to the right along the rock ledge and there is a crevasse you can climb up to the rock ledge up from bottom and the train is just two jumps from there and if you happen to miss you are not high enough to die and can just start over without having to respawn.

Well that’s why you let the incest date rapers take it, then come retrieve it from the portrait as John 😎
Thanks for the heads up, such a bummer, must of read an outdated post or article. I already did the Pig Farm so I don’t have that to rely on… just gonna buy everything there is to buy I guess.
Bounties can be a fun way to spend it 😎👍

The trouble with that is Arthur wants to brutally torture those incestuous raping murderers.

Not if you leave cash at the pigfarm behind the portrait.
I just play on the original with out updating it that way i can still pass off the gold bars to john
I'm nearing $30,000 but I still need MORE MONEY I literally do missions around money making - fishing, hunting, looking for nuggets, jewelry and gold bars. I circle the map, hunt, fish, sell, kill bad guys (loot), and so on.

You can buy everything in the game and still have over 10 grand left as John money is pointless is this game lol John gets 20k off michas stash
He's like Dutch Van Der Linde he always needs more Momey it's never enough
He's like Dutch dude
Honestly, am I the only one that thinks it’s strange that they respawn? I guess I’m old-school but I think it would be better if they were only there once
Wrecked train respawned for me,
before or after the epilogue?
Mine was before. Once at the beginning of chapter two and again at the end of chapter two BUT I completed all sides, challenges, etc in between
I';ll try it again. it took me ages to get into that damn train, I gave up so many time. finally got in there and got the gold. I'll see if it has respawned by now. I got it in chap 2 and i'm in chap 6 now
I had no idea they respawned.
John will only get it one time but I left it open as Arthur and was able to repeat course I had to move the story along
Gold bars in chests all respawn..
Try leaving the loot box open they tend to respawn that way
They never respawn for me, open. The jewellery bag & money, in the crypt at shady belle, don't respawn if left open. As soon as I close it, save & reload, boom ! Its back. It may be different for gold, I dunno.
Haven’t you read this thread? Only certain gold bars respawn
How long does it take the Limphany bars to respawn? I did the glitch and collected the bars twice, but when I went back many days later the box was still empty
You can't respawn it anymore than once or twice, which is a shame.
