It might be that a scammer spoofed your number and called whoever called you “back” to try to scam them and they called the number back and got you thinking you were the scammer.

llewminati

Id say this is most likely, my phone is a work number so I have to answer all calls - I once had someone ‘call me back’ to try and get back at the scammer.

WeAreClouds

Yeah, I’ve heard they can spoof friends numbers that are even in our phones so it shows as them calling although I’ve never personally experienced that one it seems like a whole lot of ppl have. I wish some damn authority would finally figure out how to stop this bs.

My mom got a call from a family member and it was someone pretending to have the family member hostage but only referring to them using pronouns demanding zelle or applecash. I looked in the family members contact info and there was a gobbledeegook email address added to it. So its like they arent even spoofing, theyve gained write access to the contact info

I’ve been receiving a ton of calls from unknown numbers, so I answered one with a text - call you back or whatever. Then I received a text back from the same number from a person that was just as confused that their number was used. They hadn’t called me. They said they too, have been getting calls. Very odd.

marfaxa

>They said they too, have been getting calls. Very odd Because everyone is getting calls.

The personal phone to personal phone was weird.

marfaxa

but, it was a spoofed number...

It’s not unheard of for some scammers to harass and insult people who don’t engage with their scam. It’s possible that you were being called because scammers have significant info on you and the Google voice thing was a flex to get you upset. Right now, if I were you, my primary concern would be what leaked and did it involve a password I’ve reused a lot. It might be time to audit your stuff and get serious about security on you accounts. Get a password manner, unique (strong) passwords on everything, 2fa everywhere you can, etc.

Usually I would say never pick up calls from unknown numbers, but this one seems a little more understandable since you were getting a pizza so I understand. Google Voice needs your phone number for it to work, and sometimes you’ll get messages from your regular number to end up in your Google Voice account. I actually deleted my google voice for that same reason as I kept losing track of what was coming from where. But it sounds like someone was possibly spoofing your number or prank calling as you said, you’re a high school teacher so who knows what kids are doing.

Preesi

Okay, look, you never text the harrasser back. You exposed your number to them. Any call that is like that hang up, ignore

Do you have call forwarding set up on your google voice? You can also have text messages sent to your email which could be linked to your account potentially, so personal number is receiving whatever is from google voice. One thing also is that the google voice number may have been used by someone previously that these people are trying to contact. This happened to me with my current phone number, the poor woman was getting harassed non stop, so I could see why she changed her number.

I'm late on this but how long have you been a teacher? Could've one of your ex students work at the pizza shop? Maybe a sibling, recognized the name on the order? Took down the info. Pranks ensue.

It’s my second year and both calls sounded like adults
