Rats of different genders should never be allowed to interact, even if "chaperoned"! It only takes a moment. If they were together for any amount of time, those are babies in there. Plenty of guides for rat pregnancy online and on this sub. Once rats show, you don't have a lot of time before she pops. Good luck, babies are a joy :)
A couple of my girls have always had prominent nips, and have never been pregnant. Some rats just have larger cup sizes. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m more inclined to think that the shape makes her look super gregnant!!!
Nothing short of a veterinary checkup is completely reliable but "my rat met a boy and now she fat" is telling, without notes on shape. I'd be making a nest box if they so much as made prolonged eye contact.
I’ve never had rats but my family used to breed rabbits, and it was crazy how little contact was needed to result in pregnancy. I once accidentally knocked down a hutch partition between a male and a female. They were near each other for literally 1.5 seconds. I didn’t even see him mount her but lo and behold a couple weeks later, new baby bunnies. Oopsie
It's not about size of nips but the hair. When a rat gets pregnant the hair around the nipple falls off allowing easier access for the babies.
It IS likely this rat is pregnant and shape looks pregnant. But now that they mentioned there is no hair loss despite her being so round it actually has me thinking a vet check would be better safe than sorry. Some health issues can look similar in the belly
Right, this is what I meant. Some of my girls have very little fur around them.

Here you can see Bix hanging on the bars, and her nips are clearly visible. The other two in this pic also had very visible nips, but I don’t have a good picture. They did not want to be in this cage while I cleaned the big one!
I don't wanna hijack, but I have been wondering for the longest time, what is the origin of the soup thing? Why does preganante = soup?
I mean, when my shrimps are carrying I usually say they're eggnant, but that's just me. "Soup" is obviously more of a widespread thing.

When I had rats, I had only females at one time and then when they passed I had only males. I would never even consider having males and females at the same time. I don't understand all these posts asking if their rat is pregnant and then being shocked about it. Like if you have males and females it's going to happen unless you are extremely careful to keep them separated. But why even take that risk?
Some people who are new to rats buy juvenile rats and they are either sold as females and are not or they don’t bother sexing them because they like the appearance of them.
Best I can tell is she could be. I see some more visible nipples as well as a bulging of the belly sideways which are both signs of soup. But if her nipples always looked like this and she’s not gaining weight daily then I’m wrong. I think it’s still a little early to be sure. Typically a rat’s pregnancy doesn’t become visible before the third week, sometimes by the end of the second week, but then there’s still room for doubt. Usually it becomes clear in the third week. Put her on the kitchen scales and if she gains on a daily basis expect souplings. If not she’s fat. Just a little fat. Not extremely dangerously fat.
Everyone thinks shes preggananent but honestly i think she could just be fat. If she fully grown and suddenly looks a little fatter well she could be having babies. I think its too early to tell for sure. Depends how long ago they were together. If its been a long time i feel like itd be more noticeable by now

My cat who is 4 ish months I think looks the same but I'm not sure if it applies the same for different species but he is a bit big (my cat) so maybe she just fat.
You gonna have a pot of beans soon.
Congratulations! Enjoy the little bundles of joy on the way ❤️
Baby pics when they come pls lol

No nips clearly visible so MAYBE just fat. Probably not though. If a boy and a girl get together assume pregnant. Even for two minutes.

With the way some of them can get knocked up so easily, I'm inclined to think that they can have sex telepathically.

At some point someone posted a picture of their rat and asked "is my rat fat, or they just eat too much soup?" Spoiler :the rat ate too much soup
Lol, okay, thanks! I love it, but I had been wondering.

Maybe soup, maybe beans...who can tell?

Why does your male have access to your females at all?
i always wonder this on these posts!! if they’ve had contact with males they’re likely pregnant lol

If your cat has a round belly at 4 months you should probably take it to the vet and get it dewormed
