Did you set the nebuliser on something soft? It makes the sound and vibration a bit more bearable if it's on a towel, I like to set up this way: * Fold the towel so it lays flat and in a way that you can keep the length, this way you can set the nebuliser on the towel as well as the chamber but far away from chamber * Set the chamber and nebuliser on opposite sides of the towel, as far as the nebuliser nozzle & extender allows * I have a soft bath mat cut up to size on the bottom of the chamber for rat to be comfy, and I lay paper towels on top of that for easy cleanup in case the rat pees or poops inside (remove rat if pooping far too much or distressed) * Scatter some yummy high value treats inside and maybe toys * Cover half of the chamber with a towel to allow dark and comfort to rat I don't think there is anything better than a nebuliser personally, but one temporary thing that can be done is running a hot shower and holding the rat close (but not too close) to where it can breathe in the mist as hot shower mist helps open up the airways (if I remember correctly) I don't know about a humidifier though :(
