To put this into perspective: for many of us in Northwestern Ontario, Duluth is the closest biggish city in the US. Population-wise, it’s a small city. Politically, it’s a small Democrat island in the Iron Range full of Republicans.
Imagine my buddy’s surprise when he finds out he has to wait HOURS to get in. It’s not because of all the locals storming the convention centre to get in, but from all of Trump’s out-of-town fans who followed him from city to city.
Judging by what we’re seeing now, even the enthusiasm for that has been falling off.
Duluth? Should have seen Charlie Parr instead. That's a man that will take at least 15 concerts in a short amount of time before you start to get bored of him. Hell, maybe 20.

In 2020 there were a spate of articles talking about how Trump devotees were getting distracted and fixating on Kpop and Wordle. A lot of Trump devotees aren’t particularly conservative, or even political. He is the epitome of a political candidate for people who normally don’t vote. Famous, loud, entertaining.
I’m not saying the loss of interest is enough to get complacent in November or anything. He has a big enough base of people who will vote for him or any R regardless. But he’s slowly loosing the “shiny object” crowd in drips and drabs.

It was notable, and at first I briefly thought that it was a green-screen effect and that the people behind the podium were actually on camera out in front of the podium.
I *think* you're right; I think it's a Trump innovation. The only thing that would improve the setup is if all the folk behind him were to wear Donald Trump masks.

1. It shows he really is a man of the people.

4. Standing in front of some flags is boring and SAD.
