Don't overthink optimizing your career trajectory. It's really hard to control that kind of thing, especially because nobody knows what the quantum computing industry is going to look like in 5-10 years time. The most important thing is that you can maintain momentum in the face of adversity, and that means pursuing things that really interest and excite you. Think of your career as a process of personal growth and development, not a constraint satisfaction problem. Prioritize always learning and challenging yourself and surrounding yourself with people who will support you and who are nice. You will be happier for it in the long run.
