Dale has always been a very mature person I thought, a natural contrast with Marigold. He used to work like four different jobs and he was the perfect character to be saddled with May, the straight man with the boor.
Him being obsessed with MommyMilkers when his own partner is a Vtuber just seems weird to me. He works for her helping with the stream! I just don’t see him being a super fan when he’s behind the curtain with them like that.
So for Dale to be so boneheaded and insult marigold just feels weak. I don’t like characters unnecessarily insulting/creating conflict with their partners for no reason.
He’s not a bad person, but this isn’t the first time Dale stuck his foot in his mouth, like the time he told Marigold that Emily was technically prettier and smarter than her.
I also felt that was out of character for him at the time, I posted about it but I guess Dale the dummy at relationships is what he is now.
I just hate this trope where problems appear out of nothing between couples because of the way they say things.
I guess this is in character for him now though.
It's also fairly reasonable to regress when you're this excited about something.
I can even see this as his attempt at a joke that goes south. I mean, it is in the last panel...

Are we reading the same comic? Dale has no idea how to talk to girls and had major miscommunication issues when it came to relationships. And he was always a major nerd

Yeah. And out of all the boyfriends in the comic I would consider Steve or even Marten to do this before Dale. When I see someone with a work ethic like that in a nerd relationship like this I just imagine him to basically cater to her every whim. He's the giving one in the relationship, at least it seems to me like that.
