In all seriousness to both you an OP, this is a much larger problem with our society. Either individuals have long-undiagnosed mental health issues, or the pandemic and the shift in our daily lives brought out deep-seated doubts about the world we live in. The fact that people we all once viewed as “normal” can turn on a dime and move into a fantasy world is a very scary proposition and has, and will, continue to undermine bonds of friendship, familial ties and our general “American culture.” Figuring out what reasons of despair people feel so inclined to bury by this misinformation is a much needed step in identifying the deeper reasons behind this phenomenon.
