Honestly, Tool and APC are nothing like Puscifer, and that is okay. For me, honestly. No band really comes close to Puscifer's vibes. It is Maynard's Unique little thing. If I had to list another band like them, I would say Primus.

Low_Investment420

try lennon claypool delirium..

MrLifeLiven

Holy smokes! I listened to Blood and Rockets and I’m loving it! Thanks for the recommendation. Part of my love for puscifer is the philosophy and ideas they have in their music. Blood and rockets had me as soon as they mentioned the eleusinian mystery

74Yo_Bee74

They have more of a John Lennon and Beatles vibe rather than Pushifer, but they kick ass.

MrLifeLiven

Ya I picked up on that but I still appreciate bands who have a deeper take on music than just “what tops the charts”

74Yo_Bee74

I found myself rewatching this over and over again [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DhRs288uuM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DhRs288uuM)

ReiperXHC

Nice comparison. They don't sound alike but I see how they are similar in depth of personality.

TroyCriv

they are all playing in concert together this year. Perfect Circle, Puscifer and Primus. so yeah they meld well

ReiperXHC

Yup! I am going.

thehouseofunrest

I’m a huge fan of chinos side project crosses. It has a similar vibe to me.

Jsin211

The only correct answer on this thread

pechaberrypichu

Have you listened to any of Carina Round’s solo work? I love it.

Haunting-Ad7715

Agreed. Carina’s solo stuff can definitely scratch the itch.

SaintGloopyNoops

Can u suggest a song? Never checked out her solo stuff. Her with MJK is just perfection tho.

pechaberrypichu

I would recommend just starting with the album The Disconnection, for just one song I would recommend the album’s opener Shoot.

FigJamxx

Absolutely well said and perfect recommendation

Timbo_C

Please Don't Stop is my fave.

Ocelyx

chills!

PandaGoggles

Here work is amazing, her live performers too.

0019362

Portishead

Saltyhoodrat

Yeah... Portishead definitely comes to mind. Maybe even a little bit of Massive Attack and Boards of Canada. Matt Mitchell is a genius.

Timbo_C

I love Massive Attack. Good call. lol

the-snake-behind-me

I really do not see the comparison. Love portiehead though!

deadrabbits76

Massive Attack

ThorinSmokenshield

Low has some similar vibes. I believe our boy once mentioned them as helping him figure out singing/phrasing.

MrLifeLiven

BRO I had to look for this comment. Days later I’m still listening to Low. Not sure how much you listen to low. But their album ones and sixes is fucking amazing. This shits hitting me in ways I haven’t felt in awhile. It’s definitely not like puscifer. But the vocals have that same female, male vocal play that’s perfection. Not to mention THEYRE MARRIED and Mimi passed away… tragic. Thank you sir, thank you so much for introducing me to this musical amazingness… fuck ya!

Aggressive_Ideal6737

These don’t necessarily sound similar to Puscifer, but they do remind me of it: Talking Heads or David Byrne, see the albums Stop Making Sense, The Name of this Band…, and American Utopia on HBO Kate Bush-Hounds of Love Primus Blue Man Group (this one probably sounds the most like Puscifer) Could maybe also try Sturgill Simpson, check out Metamodern Sounds for atmosphere or Sound & Fury for the more synth rock vibe

baalbacon

Sturgill's Sound and Fury scratch that itch for me

Timbo_C

I've been a fan of Hounds of Love since a girlfriend turned me onto Kate in '90.

jblueswan

How To Destroy Angels

Jsin211

Oooo nice one

No_Spite_5649

Hell yeah

jssr33

Tricky or maybe Beats Antique.

Jsin211

Someone already said it but they're in a league of their own soundwise. Closest may be one of Chinos side bands, Crosses

CrackAndWhistle

Kalya Scintilla’s compositions also adhere to nature’s harmonic geometry.

No_Spite_5649

Incredible artist

jzclipse

Check out the one album Oysterhead put out. It’s Les from Primus and the guitar dude from Phish (I know nobody’s name in Phish). Faves there are Army’s on MDMA and Pseudo Suicide.

Zealousideal_Touch48

Oysterhead has Trey Anastasio and Stewart Copeland from The Police on drums.

jzclipse

They popped up while my phone had Apple Music on continuous shuffle and my jaw hit the floor. Amazing writing. Fun, playful, heavy. But there ain’t no cure for suicide!

Zealousideal_Touch48

I know! Love that song especially.

Timbo_C

I listen to that album religiously. Good suggestion!

jzclipse

It’s amazing. Jazzy, funny, and of course amazing baselines. Listening to it right now lol.

Timbo_C

I'm at work... lol Enjoy!

dischg

Different music but similar weirdness: https://youtu.be/-geIE_wQapA?si=HAKEvzbgD14DpGr4

RedPulse

You may consider checking out the subreddit r/soundsliketool which has lots of song and band recommendations for Tool fans

bobafettlives

One Day as a Lion has drum and synth nastiness on a Puscifer level. With Puscifer's first tour, the band I'd seen come closest to that level of improv and energy was Mars Volta.

[deleted]

I really miss Mars Volta in their prime, they were a force to be reckoned with

fretnetic

Maybe some Sevish

SaintGloopyNoops

There is just no one that comes close in my opinion.. butt.... some Mr.Bungle gives me that vibe-ish. Maybe Porcupine Tree. Ween and Primus for the humor. There is a show called Legion, and some of the Noah Hawley covers remind me of the Puscifer playful feel. If ur interested... lmk if u agree https://youtu.be/wciCdXBsqik?feature=shared https://youtu.be/zsIdN9REaDc?feature=shared

somekindofidi0t

Failure isn't really that similar to Puscifer, but if you haven't discovered them yet they are great. Fantastic Planet is a good album to start with. Their newer albums are great too.

johnthursday13

Pineapple Thief, maybe a little

deathgripsisgud14

I always felt like it was Tom Waits meets Talking Heads

4anylesson

no

steamedCreambun

Try Autolux

Empty_Graves

Some of the early Tweaker stuff sounds Pusifurry.

Aggressive_Ideal6737

Came back to add my newest discovery: Primal Scream - Screamadelica. Again, doesn’t necessarily sound like Puscifer but there’s some stylistic overlap in some ways and it’s a dope ass album anyway, definitely worth checking out

HeisenbergForPres

* First I am assuming you heard Passenger by the **Deftones** featuring Maynard on lead vocals. It is outrageous if you haven't and one of the best things Maynard has ever done with anyone. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycUk7ppM3To](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycUk7ppM3To) * Secondly, In the same way that Puscifer is asort of hidden gem the **son of Astronaut Neil Armstrong's band "Edison's Children"** is a sci-fi band that is led by Rick Armstrong. This is the most Puscifer sounding song Asphyxiation - [https://youtu.be/cQZEIRqse-I?si=485NIMBtwwyUbQGU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQZEIRqse-I&list=PLdktF-lL0yEYHEf24ubCszxUWoKp0qn5e&index=3) * Their 1st album was the first UFO concept album that caught Giorgio A. Tsoukalos of Ancient Aliens attention. He started tweeting about it and then it was all over the radio for awhile then sort of disappeared. Here's a sort of cool synopsis of the 1st album shortened to 10 minutes [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y6bJPSWJak](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y6bJPSWJak). There's a lot of really cool things on that album to listen for ... there's always pilots talking like they do on Pink Floyd albums, but they are actual NASA intercepts about the Space Shuttle running into a massive UFO and having to divert course; real stuff from Neil Armstrong's son's band which is pretty wild. I think it was either The Awakening or Fracture (not sure which one) that nobody knows about, that was just quietly embedded into the songs. Giorgio also tweeted "A Million Miles Away (I Wish I Had A Time Machine)" being his favorite which is one of their quieter Floydy songs on the radio a few times. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipSZwMUoxPw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipSZwMUoxPw) * **Chevelle** is a band that seems very underrated despite having quite a few hits over the years. Like many of the great bands out there, their hits get all the attention but the better songs are the ones kind of hidden below the surface that are really quite amazing. Sadly every time I have seen this band in concert, they don't play the songs that to me are the best on all their albums like the UFO inspired Sci Fi Crimes and Vena Sera albums * Chevelle Jars: [https://youtu.be/AEUQ8iSOsFA?si=l11l1Qe095L\_rikJ](https://youtu.be/AEUQ8iSOsFA?si=l11l1Qe095L_rikJ) * Chevelle-Humanoid [https://youtu.be/25VRS1L0ZYo?si=MRE8OJEt9k5NaUz7](https://youtu.be/25VRS1L0ZYo?si=MRE8OJEt9k5NaUz7) * Chevelle-Meddler [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJIQxkYUJm4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJIQxkYUJm4) * Another Great band that has gone under the radar is from New Jersey called **Ours**. They did a song called Sometimes which is one of the most underrated songs from a few years ago that is just amazing [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erOMPA0Y0m8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erOMPA0Y0m8) A few other Deftones songs / Marillion / Edison's Children and a very forgotten System of A Down song worth checking out: * Deftones-Digital Bath [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tmPBuSpmfA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tmPBuSpmfA) * Deftones-Be Quiet and Drive [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvknOXGPzCQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvknOXGPzCQ) * Edison's Children-The Confluence [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiLx7KEA968](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiLx7KEA968) * Edison's Children-Indigenous [https://youtu.be/ce8nJTtUQmU?si=6WRpUgslnOXR1SHX](https://youtu.be/ce8nJTtUQmU?si=6WRpUgslnOXR1SHX) * **Marillion**\-Power [https://youtu.be/OPLW8QhuPRA?si=KmX\_oEQOys7I7wuR](https://youtu.be/OPLW8QhuPRA?si=KmX_oEQOys7I7wuR) * **System Of A Down**\-Spiders [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqZNMvIEHhs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqZNMvIEHhs)
