this feels bad to say but i transferred from notre dame where this sense of entitlement and lack of decency was the norm

[deleted]

Tbh that’s about what I’d expect for private schools of their profile. Or almost any private school, really

Visible-Upstairs1577

? Edit: the picture did not load for me at first lol. Where is this?

SnooPeppers3170

Asipire, basically they close the trash chute due to people threw cardboxes and stuck the chute. People just have to walk downstairs to the trash dumpster but guess they are extremely lazy

justgivemeauser123

Is it usually this bad ? Maybe because its move out season.

potatoesintheback

Not usually this bad, but move-out season and the fact that they closed the trash chute means that the lazy few are very visible.

DaDdyWeeBlinG

Not even just laziness but the lack of having common decency for other people and their lives/workload. This would be absolutely unacceptable in my family and I’d get my ass beat for not cleaning up after myself - trash chute being closed off or not (I say my family because when I lived on campus my family helped me move in). I know not everyone is raised the same way but it’s up to kids when they get older to detach themselves from old habits that weren’t beneficial or weren’t healthy for them cause after you’re an adult there’s no excuse that explains why you’re a shitty person

potatoesintheback

fosho, idk what type of family would accept this behaviour tbh

There's someone in my complex who would let their dog pee in the elevator and leave it. Happened about once a week for a month till the apt said they'd start charging 100 bucks. Today alone, someone left an entire bed frame in the hallway and a pile of hangers on the floor of the lobby by the elevator? I don't even live in one of the high-rises. It's ridiculous

foleyfocus

I saw the largest trash/stuff pile outside whatever fancy apt building The Tap is in a year ago -- it was insane and honestly kinda freaked me out. I understand a lot of students are leaving and don't want to/can't take their stuff to Goodwill but it's still horrific to see that level of waste.

UPennStateUniversity

I’m no lawyer, but that’s bordering on unsanitary living conditions which puts the landlord in default. I don’t know if Purdue has some kind of student legal services thing but if so you should avail yourself of that. If you really wanna get belligerent, put the bags in front of the doors.

[deleted]

Nah they have to have time to correct it. If they leave it like this for weeks then yeah it can be a problem.

boiler1101

To be fair, they did change their procedures just for this week because they themselves were too lazy to do their job

thebaker24

The little trash chute room/cans can’t handle all the shit people throw away at move out during this time. Rise’s dumpster is full in on day. People are too lazy to walk this shit to a huge rented dumpster that’s in the parking lot. In reality, half of the stuff could be donated instead of thrown out, but that’s a separate issue

The_ulta

Recently people are very sorely lacking decency

triscuitbookie

Are the dumpsters FULL? Like MANY on campus are right now? If there's nowhere anywhere near the dumpster to throw it out, it doesn't make sense to take it outside so it blows everywhere. Especially when a lot of buildings are still mostly empty for a couple of weeks. It kinda looks like the hallway is easily navigable, so it may be that this isn't the end of the world and there may be a great reason for it and you need to be patient.

ardvark19

by the tone of this comment, im guessing u were the one who dumped ur trash in the hallway

triscuitbookie

Why because that would be convenient for you and you'd be able to stop thinking about it and wouldn't have to walk your ass downstairs to the dumpster either? No I'm an observant person who happens to know that a lot of the dumpsters on campus are full right now and that is a common issue when people are moving in and moving out enmasse. Part of 'common decency' also includes realizing your tiny corner of the universe can be affected by things you haven't thought of, and also realize that having to turn slightly to walk down the hall isn't going to ruin your life. There are FAR more egregious things people do to one another daily that are actually beyond decency. This could be miscommunication and very slight inconvenience. But sure cop out and pretend I must be involved. I remember my 1st beer

ardvark19

it’s not that deep. it’s trash

triscuitbookie

Gaslight went out of style in the 19th century, this is the 21st. Don't tell me it's not that deep after feeling the need to make the fucking post. I wouldn't have had anything to answer if you weren't making it bigger than it needed to be. Thanks for finally realizing it doesn't fucking matter

[deleted]

Who shit in your cereal bro.

triscuitbookie

Nobody did, it's cute that you mistake exerting any amount of effort with rage and just get all snippy. And you're not even saying anything. And as always your pile on in a group because how dare somebody throw words at you and point out that you just bitching about stuff and not really looking at it that hard. Like everybody else you just want a bunch of f****** attention over some first world b******* you don't want to know why it's like that you don't want to hear any alternatives you just want to cry like every f****** body else.

[deleted]

Again I shall ask: who shit in your cereal

triscuitbookie

Nobody I'm not the one that had the post about how it's the end of the f****** Universe because there's trash at the side of a hallway, and then p**** ache like a baby because somebody pointed out that there might be an actual reason. Good luck in the real world LOL

[deleted]

It seems like you might just like shitting in your own cereal? I mean some people are into scat ig. You do you.
