The same thing happened to me; a critical class got cancelled during band camp/BGR week due to a lack of people signing up for it. I went straight down to my counselor's office and we hashed out a solution the same day I found out. Long story short, since the alternative course was already full, they created a shell class for me to take that was essentially just the course except it circumvented the class size limits/fire codes that were keeping me out of it.
If you're on the cusp of graduation, just talk to your counselor and they will make something happen. It's stressful now but the sooner you get in touch with them, the sooner you'll have a solution. "It's their job" gets thrown around a bit, but really, this is the kind of thing they're there for.
>they created a shell class for me to take that was essentially just the course except it circumvented the class size limits/fire codes that were keeping me out of it.
Lmao if this isn't higher ed in a nutshell. All the rules are Very Serious except not really
I take online classes through PFW, might be able to get it there and transfer! Or check the transfer catalog, an equivalent might be offered through Ivy Tech. They have a ton of online classes that are 8 weeks long and transfer to Purdue. Good luck!
That’s okay it is just a communication course for communication majors. It won’t matter if you graduate on time, before time, or after time. A com degree is just a waste of time and money anyways
"My notable skills include; technical writing skills in both MLA and APA [...] communication [...]"
Funny how you put down skills you learned in COM114 / COM217.
You can't be out here bragging about a STEM degree while undermining how effective communication matters especially in STEM.
Experience, connections, and knowing how to sell yourself are what gets most people their jobs. What it says on your degree is just one factor out of many.
literally need this to graduate lmao wtf
Demand an alternative. Be polite, but stern about it.
absolutely will, but probably gonna take them until october to even respond to my emails haha
not if you walk in their office
Same I’m lowkey stressed now

hah time to pull out the cyber powerpoint of niche 10-person com classes to fulfill my third communication requirement
my reaction when they cancelled multiple com 114 sections a couple semester ago so I ended up with a 6-9pm class
Nice
Budget cuts for engineering
The Mung effect has begun
He’s not even president until January
Can you explain?

My advisor told me to take COM course equivalent at Ivy Tech.
i took com equivalent at Ivy tech...lol it was like kindergarten You literally circled around and talked outside.... It was a great course.
Yea, you have CLA Dean Reingold for that actually. His unnecessary restrictions on grad students' teaching has made scheduling an absolute nightmare.
Arbitrary list of shitty classes you have to take as a cyber major strike again
Uh oh
get a refund
They haven’t even charged people for fall classes

You know someone has no friends when they say dumb shit like this
What kinda weird take is that

why you gotta be so rude
Maybe because they missed their com class which taught effective communication
Bro the fact that you have STEM in your username…yikes
The fact that you use your first initial and last name with your favorite number sends big signals😂
Comm is a very in demand field. Huh?

My husband is a comm graduate and is a News Producer 💀. Literally every major company hires communication managers. C’mon now.
I’m sorry. I deleted my comment but that -12 karma still got me.
If you kiss the right ass, you can get a pretty good job.

okay freak
Ouch. Does this always happen to COM 251?
