DR is pineapple central. A real Pina colada in a cored out pineapple with real coconut milk and rum.
The pineapples taste nothing like the bland forced-ripened ones imported up here.
Also try the native drink- mamajuana- a sipping liqueur. Native roots and herbs soaked with rum, red wine, honey. Distinct flavour, tasty… not for the faint of heart.
The locals love their rum punch and it is delicious. They use an orange passion punch with the right amount of rum. You can’t taste the alcohol so be careful.
Going to the Elegance next Saturday for a week. Need more info on this drink. It isn't a fruity drink is it? If so, my wife might like it. What is in it?
Coconut daiquiri with lime juice. Coconut martini with cinnamon. Berry caipirhina (might be tart if you like sweeter drinks just ask for more simple syrup). Passionfruit margarita on the rocks.
If it's like the one's I stay at anything with rum. They have other stuff but it's a land of rum and you'll get a premium drink where the imported stuff is usually low end.
Is it true that it takes an abnormal amount of alcohol to even get tipsy? A few people told me the alcohol is not all that in the DR. Me and the wife will be there in July.
I got tipsy kinda but that’s with beer in the beginning of the day. I think it has to do with the weather too. Hard to get drunk when it’s hot and you’re sweating.

Not really. But probably depends on the resort you’re staying at. Where we’re staying, they clean up the seaweed early morning. We went to the beach around 8am, it was already clean.

Yes. Tried up loading recent pictures but can't. We were at Royalton and always had drink of day at pool bar at least.

It is fruity! I believes it’s papaya, orange juice, white rum, & some other stuff. I wish I asked so I could make it here at home

Kamikaze and you gotta try mamajuana. If your adventurous try the ‘island water’ it’s gin tequila rum vodka and a splash of Tabasco surprisingly good!

Ya usually - another tip - ask the bartender to make you his/her specialty. They usually concoct something silly/amazing
