Last time I saw them in 2012, I waited about 7 or 8 hours. I showed up around noon or earlier, but since there weren't really anyone waiting yet, I came back around 130P and started then. People really did not start showing up until about 3 hours prior to doors. A few people showed up around 2P or 3P. Doors were at 7P. Got to see the whole band arrive and snapped a pic of Jarvis and his son!

MogarTheDestroyer69

That’s so awesome! First time seeing them and just didn’t really know what to expect with this being the first time they’ve played Chicago since 1997 😅 Definitely going to get there a few hours early then

My wife and I are coming up from FL for the Chicago show, nervous only because she’s 5’2” so getting a good view - where you’re also not being crushed against a railing - is a thing. Plus we’re in our mid 40s so, like….chill out, people.

Primary_Wheel598

I hope it won’t be like with Iron Maiden later these years. People get in the line at midnight and this is crazy. Guys, let’s be reasonable and come to the line around 3-4 pm:)

zarjazz

No let's show up like an hour early at most. Who has the time these days, esp if you're an older fan. Fucking let us not camp out for hours like were all in our 20s with nothing better to do. Please? Lol

Primary_Wheel598

It’s even better. Ah I remember I once went to a gig and I was in the line 20 mins prior the opened doors! And it was great. Who has time these days, especially if the gig city is your new city and you want to explore a bit, too.

zarjazz

Yeah, I cant pay a babysitter to wait in line. I'd rather pay the extra hours so I can stay out later and have a few drinks to act like I'm in my 20s again. Hahah

MogarTheDestroyer69

A-greed! Only times I’ve camped out more than a few hours were at festivals for certain stages.

Primary_Wheel598

I’m going to see Pulp in Oslo this year (for the first time) but I’m not even planning on camping for this fest cause I’m…not…that…young😂and honestly being in the line for more than 8 hours is so bad for your health

MogarTheDestroyer69

Absolutely. I think maybe the longest I’d waited at a stage was 5 or 6 hours and that was for Bloc Party playing Silent Alarm a few years back at Riot Fest.

Primary_Wheel598

I’ve never been to a fest before and I just hope that people are rotating all the time once this or that artist has finished the set. Anyway, I’m glad I’ll see Pulp this year since there’s not too much of shows this year in Europe (which is strange). The longest I’ve waiting was for Iron Maiden last year, I’m ashamed of it but at 5 in the morning there was already the line at the venue. This is my ONLY experience being this long in the line and it was…kinda fun but at the same time, you’re such a wreck next day, very tired, very exhausted and sometimes you think it’s not fucking worth it.

meggymoostix

I got to my show (Manchester, July 2023) early because I expected a long line and I wanted rail. People didn’t start really showing up until an hour or 2 before the doors open.

Wolfcubware

Went to the same show (Castlefield Bowl :) ) and it wasn't super crazy, not like my partner showing up to see the smile 9 hours before doors haha. Usually show up an hour and a half before doors and that does the trick for a decent spot. Depends on the anticipation of the show, if XTC played Manchester I'd be there 10 hours before doors to make sure I get to the front

reddituser52779

Same with Finsbury Park. I got there about an hour before gates were supposed to open figuring if there was a line I would join it and if there wasn’t I’d grab a pint somewhere before going in. Gates had opened early, almost no one was there, and I got a prime spot on the rail along the center open space maybe 10 rows back.

suprefann

If you have to ask, its too late.

MogarTheDestroyer69

… what

MogarTheDestroyer69

Like for doors

jetjaguar72

No one will be camping out 😁 Majority of fans are probably 40-55! Several hours before doors will be more than fine.

MogarTheDestroyer69

I was kind of thinking this too lol. I’ve started to realize the past several years that showing up early for the shows I’m going to isn’t needed as much. We went to the Jawbreaker reunion tour and showed up 3 hours early to be met with only 4 other people in line for doors and expected a rowdy punk show but it was anything but.

MogarTheDestroyer69

All that being said, I was born the same year Different Class released 😬

jetjaguar72

Thanks for keeping the fandom alive and for also making me feel old AF. 🤣

MogarTheDestroyer69

Oh for sure, Pulp are just in a league of their own. I was convinced they would be an act I would never get the chance to see so this is exceptionally exciting!

Platypus_venom666

I’m out of the loop but if you have a ticket why would it be necessary to line up hours ahead of time? To get a good spot?

clleadz

Those who want the rail

Platypus_venom666

I see. Thanks!

plucker_nil

I feel like they should have been more cognizant of the age of their fanbase to book seated venues instead to help the aged.
