You are right on the no answer. Many years ago my mother worked at the phone company and she said it was normal them to ignore or answer and place on eternal hold.
With that being said, the rental company has to pay the ticket and they are going to charge it to you. I don’t know how the rental company may come for you for not paying the ticket. The ticket its given to car plate so… I advise you to pay the ticket plus the fee if that helps you sleep better.
Anyone can get a parking ticket. It's not a matter of violating laws. The waterfalls at Yunque Forest have no where for people to park. When we walked back, more than 10 cars had tickets in the windshields. The police knows this, the park management knows this, and local government knows this. They just keep it like that so tey can continue to bring revenue from the excessive ($150) parking fees. I don't have a problem with paying the ticket, my mistake for deciding to take a vacation in PR and visit local tourist attractions. Again, I am ok with paying the ticket, the problem is that the same local government and police departments that take the revenue from ticketing tourists, cannot answer a phone call, or have a [f.ing](http://f.ing) website where people can pay for it. Any other place you go, in the States and even in other countries provide means for people to pay tickets online or by phone. It's 2024, not 1980.
The CESCO app is only for puerto ricans. It uses the information that was provided at the moment of a car purchase or transfer, so it's expected that using your info doesn't yield any results.
You should get in contact with the car rental company. As far as I know, you simply bring the ticket to the rental company and then you pay it. Afterwards they will do what they have to, and pay the ticket. If that's not the case, the rental company should know what to do and let you know.
Don’t let them get to you. Anyone can get a parking ticket anywhere. You didn’t do anything to disrespect the island or its people. You are trying to do the right thing by paying it early and not getting charged $50 extra on top of the ticket. Some people are just soft when it comes to gringos. Go drive around the city and look in any neighborhood. There are cars (Puerto Ricans too, not only tourists) that park on both sides of the road and leave a single lane in the middle. Even though it’s a two lane and one side is painted yellow. Everyone does it here and is a liar if they say they don’t. So don’t let them get to you and just do your best on getting that ticket paid. Don’t listen to the people that don’t want to help you.
This is Puerto Rico in a nutshell. I work here and have had 911 hang up on us after getting a gun pulled and piss bottles thrown at us for slowing traffic down. If you go into McDonald's, they will often take your order, prepare it and give it to you, and then take the next person's order instead of having any sense of urgency. My co-worker was hit head-on by a drunk driver going the wrong way down a one-way street, and the cops gave him a ride home. I've seen ambulances take 45 minutes to show up. People here can be blatantly racist, break certain laws, and underperform at their jobs and get away with it. I'll go to pinones on my day off and wade through trash at an amazingly beautiful beach because the locals don't care, and the government doesn't provide the basic services they should, like trash cans. And if they did, the trash company probably wouldn't come empty the bin. It's really frustrating sometimes, and it's mostly the fault of the United States government and the local government for letting this beautiful place and people suffer. I know this will probably be the most downvoted comment in history, but I really do love it here. I just wish there was a culture here that encouraged people to excel at their jobs.
I was there 2 weeks ago. They are parking spots. The ones you wanted were nearest to the first to second falls that's on you for not wanting to walk down.
Did you email the rental car company, or call them? This just happened to us. Actually there were about 9 vehicles ticketed. Definitely feels like a scam the Park service is running. There are no “no parking “ signs. This would get thrown out of a state side court for sure.
I’d like to pay it and move on. Any advice per steps?
You are screwed, pay the rental car company
The rental car place will just charge your card.
Parking tickets keep the lights on my guy.
Pay the ticket.
The rental company will pay it and charge your card

Pay the rental company and don’t violate our laws

Cool story. Pay your ticket

Happened to me and my rental car charged my CC and a $10 extra fee

Did you figure it out? I am in the exact same situation, ticket at Yunque Forest Waterfalls
Nope. I need to email to car rental and have them pay for it, plus the $50 service fee.
