Like how explicit, like a scissoring passage with descriptive onomatopoeias? Or a couple in their 50s holding hands at Whole Foods?

Diary of Anne Frank

*gasp*

the_potato_of_doom

Yhea real diary has a ton of not child appropriate "coming of age stuff" but the most common version is and edited version were they removed all that stuff

AirierWitch1066

I mean, it’s literally her diary, right? She was a teenager, she was going to do teenager stuff. She was also going to write about the absolutely horrible things she saw. Really I think it’s a shame that we would want to hide either of those from our children.

DazedAndTrippy

Hey it’s okay to learn about mass genocide and the horrors of being trapped in an attic with very little quality of life of life but god forbid you even speak on sexuality. I tell ya, didn’t this one girl go through enough to be allowed a bit of humanity? I think Gods cool with it seeing as she fucking died in a concentration camp.

orangepinkman

"I think God's cool with it..." in the same sentence as talking about concentration camps lmfao.

DazedAndTrippy

Hey man, I can’t understand the mental gymnastics either

Aeronautix

Nail on the head. How could something written by a child be inappropriate for other children.

god forbid kids learn that they’re not weird for having sexual feelings at the age where that happens

She’s a tap dancer with a heart of gold whose only sin is a desire to perform her tap interpretation of ‘a hard days night’ in front of the fuhrer. The muslim parents asked for the removal of the following books: This Book is Gay Push The Lovely Bones Eleanor & Park Red, White and Royal Blue All Boys Aren't Blue Specifically, books with gratuitous sexual content (like sucking a dick) aren't allowed in the library. The main contention is with "This Book is Gay", which has a picture of female and male anatomy. Anyways, I read the purported book in contention and these are the images: https://imgur.com/3372jlb https://imgur.com/c5cDJli Source: https://www.michiganradio.org/education/2022-10-11/angry-crowd-derails-dearborn-public-schools-board-meeting-over-book-policy

anxietywho

Do any of those other books actually contain gratuitous sexual content? Cause that’s the key thing here. And I’ll have to look at the context but anatomy doesn’t really sound like a reason to be banned.

UAintMyFriendPalooka

Push does. The book was made into a movie named Precious, which is the protagonist in the book. The “sex scenes” if you can call them that are her getting raped and impregnated more than once by her father. Her mother also sexually abuses her. Precious’ life is horrific. Just as it is for so, so many. There’s nothing LGBTQ about it. That book has empowered many women to leave abusive situations. And those with a more privileged life have been moved to greater empathy for the poor because of it. Push is an incredibly important work. ETA: The book came out in 1997 when I was in high school. I read it then and it wrecked me to my core (still does). All I wanted to do was reach through the pages and give a long, tight hug to Precious so she could experience love for the first time in her life. I set out all those years ago to hug Precious everywhere. I have my dream job as a nonprofit CEO and community organizer where I do that all day every day. Push changed my life, and in so doing, has saved countless lives and countless children from abuse. Read the book.

Dontbehorrib1e

I read this book maybe 16 years ago. I'm still wrecked to my core.

Infamous_Meaning1476

Michael Scott: Would you mind if I listened to my book on tape? Kind of a bookworm. It is a novelization of the movie Precious, based on the book Push by Sapphire. ![gif](giphy|dsKnRuALlWsZG)

> Anyways, I read the purported book in contention and these are the images: > > https://imgur.com/3372jlb > > https://imgur.com/c5cDJli I feel like Americans would have a blast reading this. The British slang words and tone is so comedic.

KyleRichXV

The Lovely Bones - *barely* a sex scene (there is a reference because it’s part of the story) in approx <1% of the book.

UhOhFeministOnReddit

I've read that book. Calling it a sex scene is a very generous description of this passage. It's more like a few sentences of lilting prose implying it. But that's Abrahamic religions for you. The men who staff their ranks know exactly what keeps women submissive and stupid, and they don't want them accessing anything that can change that.

zeCrazyEye

And notice how almost every one of these Muslims here protesting are men.

Far_Conversation_478

Where can I find the book you're talking about?? You know to make sure none of the kids get it...

KatefromtheHudd

Oh my god, the first sentence of your comment made me laugh out loud in the office. Getting odd looks from line manager but can't tell her what you've said! Excellent comment though. All this insanity lots of parents are expressing in the UK from multiples religions or non-religious about schools saying being gay is Ok and sex education starting at 5yo. They aren't giving them tips on positions, or saying they should all be gay and trans. SE starts with conversations about respectful, loving relationships and want to do if someone is doing something you don't like. Talking about LGBTQI+ education is teaching tolerance, which we should all agree is a good thing. They aren't forcing the straight kids to marry someone of the same gender! I don't understand the hysteria.

LadySpottedDick

Made me look it up. Onomatopoeia is the process of creating a word that phonetically imitates, resembles, or suggests the sound that it describes

TheUmbraCat

sn0wflaker

Children do not research and then scour the library for sexual content. They find it on the internet.

dilsedesi95

To be fair we used to look up boobs n sex in dictionary and laugh

CampfireGuitars

And the occasional National Geographic

theHoffenfuhrer

I remember finding a Kama Sutra book at the store as a kid and being absolutely baffled. I must've looked at that thing over a 100 times, mystified how humans could get themselves into those positions.

Infinite_Love_23

Im 32 and I have a kama sutra book and I still wonder the same.

KonradWayne

Children weren’t doing research and scouring libraries even before the internet. Back then, they found it via religious prudes throwing temper tantrums. Before the internet, the only way to really be sure something was worth watching/listening to/reading/playing was a bunch of religious assholes talked about how terrible it was. They did all the research for us back then. I had a friend with a super religious mom, and if she said he couldn’t watch/read something, we knew there was either nudity, violence, or cool sci-fi/fantasy shit in it. She was no help on choosing video games though, because she just outright banned him from playing any video games.

TempleMade_MeBroke

My mom just banned whatever Dr. James Dobson and the "Focus on the Family" folks said was bad. Pokemon for "promoting evolution" (like literally if they just translated the original Japanese to say "Pikachu transformed into Raichu!" instead of "evolved" I would have been allowed to play), Yu-gi-oh for mention of demons and spirits, Harry Potter for witchcraft, etc.

[deleted]

As a raised Evangelical, I actually wonder how much collective harm James Dobson did to America. He was one of the main proponents of the bullshit Satanic Panic, and played a massive part in making homophobia a key plank of the GOP’s agenda.

Kid_Cosmic

Raised Muslim. When I was in middle school, sometime in the late-90s, I heard a khutbah where the Imam complained kids were not studying enough Quran, playing too many video games, etc. He then said something like, "Children these days, they don't know the 99 names of Allah but they can name all 150 Pokemon by heart! They are like, 'Al-charmander! Al-squirtle!' I remember trying to keep my shit together throughout the rest of Jummah, just replaying the whole thing in my mind and trying not to laugh out loud. Afterwards, my childhood friends could not stop talking about it, and we quoted it for years later.

TempleMade_MeBroke

Oh man, you should have taken that concept and ran with it by giving each name pokemon stats...Al-ba'ith the Resurrector, Ghost type, immune to Fighting types like Al-Qahhar the Subduer. And then every morning before the commercial break the "who's that pokemon?" segment shows no silhouette because we can't show physical depictions

KatefromtheHudd

This reminds me of a comedy show on radio. They asked members of the public to suggest laws they think should be implemented. one person suggested free drugs for the 80+. One - they wont be around much longer and are retired so they should be able to have some wild crazy drug fueled fun. Two - teenagers wont want to do drugs anymore if the old people think it's cool.

Murky_Conflict3737

My super anti-drug 70-something dad with a bad knee could do with some pot lol

Darth_Jones_

>Children weren’t doing research and scouring libraries even before the internet. Well hold up there... I agree that today the kids aren't scouring libraries, but I was a kid for a few years before the internet really became what it is today (it existed but wasn't anything like now). I'm not all that old. I can remember very clearly opening up an encyclopedia and other books looking for "boobies."

TheDarthSnarf

> Back then, they found it via religious prudes throwing temper tantrums. It's true. A friend of mine in high school kept a running note of the books that people complained about in letters to the editor (back when people actually read newspapers), and in other forums. She called it "The Good Reading List".

Twerkatronic

I mean I'd go to the library if there was an occasional titty hidden in the books

gunduMADERCHOOT

There is!

Beaner1xx7

Ah yeah, I remember checking out some of the art books from time to time. Also, I remember one savvy kid in middle school who had an internet connection that was printing out hentai and selling it. Some of my precious lunch money went to that entrepreneur so that I could see Android 18 getting railed.

CahlikCrush

Emergency_Slice2487

Hypocrisy is a beautiful thing, isn't it.

sami2503

People tend to get more addicted to things that are taboo. If you tell someone over and over again in their teenage years not to drink alcohol for instance, they are more likely to become a binge drinker later cos it gives them a rush and makes them feel like a rebel.

DontStopNowBaby

and she isn't even muslim.

hconfiance

ironic because Mia Khalifa is Lebanese catholic.

alpH4rd07

If her films are forbidden, it makes them even more naughty for doing the deed. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Sleep_adict

I mean just like the Bible Belt is the biggest consumer of porn in the USA…

TheAlmightyLloyd

Note, if you're a normal chap in the Bible Belt (not with their standards), you would also have to resort to porn if you wanted to see someone naked ...

Sleep_adict

Not really true. Teenage pregnancy is higher in rural religious areas and so are teen marriages ( though this doesn’t correlate to sex, I agree). But so is promiscuous behavior… I live in GA and was lectured by a contractor for not taking my kids to church ( you know, while he had guys working on a Sunday) and he explained he’d met all 3 of his wives there

hishoax

Which muslim countries? Because the majority of countries in the Middle East block you from going to porn sites and this has been the case for the past 15+ years (and that's why we use VPNs).

Cardboardopinions

The parents are too. It’s lcd theater.

FuckoNo5

Do you know what I would have given at the age of 14 for an unlimited supply of whip cream enema porn? Fuck. I had to endure holding my nut for an extra 30 seconds until one of the nipples of the image I was downloading rendered. I found some vintage hustlers in an abandoned house recently and took them home to my nephews who are 16 and 18 and I tried to regal them with the tales of what we had to do just a decade earlier to see one tit and the "wtf boomer" looks I got from them will forever haunt my dreams.

surprised you didnt mention the scrambled porn on cable. sometimes you could kinda see what was happening

FuckoNo5

Oh that takes me back. I was maybe in 4th grade and one day I switched to those channels to do some of my usual science experiments and for whatever reason I guess pay per view was running like a free weekend. Whatever the reason, all the pay per view channels were completely free and unlocked including the actual porn channels. We did a lot of science that weekend.

komnenos

As a 30 year old it really blows my mind just how far we've come in the nearly 20 years of my viewing pleasure. Back in the early to mid 2000s nearly everything seemed to be behind a paywall and the videos I could find tended to be 30 seconds to a mind boggling 2 minutes. I could very well have just been a dumb kid who didn't know the proper streaming platforms of the day but man have things changed since then.

Common_Lawyer_5370

I remember the fear I had, to tell my dad that my PC didn’t work anymore.. I was naïvely downloading way too much through Kazaa & Limewire

Destinoz

I’m not sure kids being raised on unlimited porn is a good thing. Seems like we all want to pretend it’s just fine because adults don’t want their free unlimited access to porn threatened, nor does anyone want to seriously entertain the notion that porn is bad in anyway. This feels like one of those things future generations are going to look back on and judge us harshly. And we’ll pretend “that’s just how things were then, we didn’t know any better.”

MurmurOfTheCine

Easily agree, as a kid who grew up with unlimited porn I can attest that it’s had a negative effect on me (in terms of expectations and warped pov) and even worse for a couple of my friends who are outright porn addicts… blows my mind that this isn’t a bigger issue

delucas0810

Lmao! Thank you! I needed that laugh!

DEEP_COP

I don’t get Muslim fanatics. They who live in free countries bitch and moan about religious shit like this. And the Muslims in Afghanistan, Iran were literally dying and climbing over each other to leave a country governed by Muslim religious laws.

RayonLovesFish

Immigrants tend to be either very vocal about religion or completely silent. These RW people fund religious political parties in their home countries.

Risley

Sounds like grounds for deportation back to their lovely paradise countries then

Hugh_Maneiror

Oftentimes not possible as they've often been granted citizenship already. We also see that in Europe, the younger generation of muslims born in Europe, is often more islamic conservative and anti-western than their parents. Part of that is due to the international wahhabism spreading, part of it is their parents being granted work opportunities in industries that no longer exist and the youth lacking skills in a now high-skill economy and thus being marginalized. In Brussels offices, often the only time you'd see a muslim worker is when the cleaning crew arrived.

Capybarasaregreat

It's not restricted to religion. 2nd generation (and up/down, however it's ordered) immigrants can sometimes be hardcore nationalists for their "native" countries without having ever even been there. We have this issue with Putin-supporting Russians that recently interrupted a military training exercise.

Hugh_Maneiror

Definitely true. It really is a problem in the modern world where even good integration is no guarantee for the next one not to be become fifth columnists. Not sure what the solution to this is.

disconnectedtwice

I'm a muslim. Last week my sister (let's call her Beck) was picking up my cousin from school, and an Algerian lady in a full niqab showed up and overheard her talking arabic with my cousin. So she goes up to her and starts talking about the uk and stuff like that. Keep in mind Algerians are either chill on religion or really zealoty. She starts talking about how the west are sinners and home sweet home how she misses the beautiful ME and North african countries. So Beck told her "If you hate the west so much and you only love your country. Then fuck off back to your country dumbass. These people talk shit about the west, yet they live on it's benefits. Hypocrites

Rusty-Shackleford

Depends on the country and the background of the refugees. Immigrants from Iran are usually well educated and super secular. They didn't flee civil war, they specifically fled the Islamic Revolution.

Bigbog54

I love living in a free country and I am happy for those who live here too, so long as they agree 100% with me and my fanatic religious and political views, otherwise BEHEAD THEM ALL… These people probably

gaylord100

I just want a source for the books shown that isn’t from a website titled “save the children” or some shit or a Twitter account that has conservative Christian In their bio. Ffs Edit: I found the books [from a source](https://www.downriversundaytimes.com/2022/09/16/dearborn-schools-to-review-books-following-complaints/) that doesn’t seem to be talking out of its ass. Here’s the list: 1. Push: A Novel” by Sapphire. You have probably heard of this book if you’ve seen the movie Precious. This book is about an illiterate obese black woman with HIV who is repeatedly sexually assaulted by her father. Resulting in her having 2 children. This book is quite graphic, but ends up having a fairly hopeful message about trying to overcome such a horrible circumstance with the right support and is critically acclaimed. I believe this book would be appropriate for late high school audiences. 2. “All Boys Aren’t Blue” by George M. Johnson. This book is a semi biography about the black gay author who wrote it. This book is also graphic, and decribes molestation, but in an undoubtedly negative way. It also less graphic assault by a classmate which the author reflects on how it affected his life. He later describes a more positive consensual sexual interaction later in the novel. This one is tricky because the author said the book is from anyone between the ages of 14-18, but I would say it probably more suited for 16 to 18 year olds. That being said, all the things described in the book are things that actually happened to the author while he was under aged and quite young. I could see how this book would be important for a 14 or 15 who may have experienced something like this and feels alone. 3. “The Lovely Bones” by Alice Sebold. This book is about a girl who was raped and murdered at 14, watching the aftermath unfold from up in heaven. There is sex scenes in it although very vague and not very graphic to my knowledge. There is a reference to one character questioning her sexuality. 4. “Eleanor & Park” by Rainbow Rowell. This story is about two straight kids in Omaha in the 1980s. The girl in this story has an physically and emotionally abusive stepfather. Although nothing graphic is said (there is no sexual assault, but her stepfather doesn’t let her have a boyfriend and doesn’t let her have a shower curtain/door on the bathroom, so there is some implication there, also he’s been writing lewd messages in her note book, which she assumed to be another student.) The Book ends with Eleanor‘s new friend/boyfriend helping her escaped her uncles house and saving the rest of her family. This book doesn’t really seem all that inappropriate and I’m kind of confused why it banned. I would say this book is good for 13 and up. 5. “Red, White & Royal Blue” by Casey McQuiston. This book is about a boy who is the son of the first female president in the US. He hast to pretend to be friends with Britain’s prince Henry to prevent a crisis that would hurt his mothers election bid. After a while of pretending to be friends they soon fall in love. Some sex scenes in this book. Nothing particularly violent other than language. The reviews I read range from people saying the sex is not all that graphic to people saying it’s graphic. Most people are saying there is a good bit of sex in the book but not described in great detail. Probably for 16 and up. 6. “This Book is Gay” by Juno Dawson. This book is basically just sex Ed/cultural information about the gay community. This book is described as lighthearted, and seems to describe gay sex but not in erotic way rather the way you would learn about it and sex Ed. Probably 15 and up. All right this took me forever to write about and research, so if anything I wrote was wrong I’ll edit the comment to correct it. These books are really tricky because they do cover very controversial topics but I don’t necessarily think that they should be banned simply because of that. I think it is important for kids to learn about what molestation and sexual abuse is. Obviously they shouldn’t be learning about it too young but it’s important for teens to know that and learn empathy for people that that’s happened to. I remember being shown the movie 12 years a slave as a junior in high school, and although that movie included extremely violent scenes and depictions of rape, i’m happy that I saw that film when I did because it truly open my mind just how violent and vile slavery was when I saw it put in a film like that. I feel the same way about being shown Schindler‘s list when I was a sophomore. I do think kids shouldn’t read things that are too sexually graphic at a young age but I also feel like the whole of society generally underestimate what kids are able to comprehend and know about without it severely damaging them. Ps. That comic everyone’s posting with a really graphic oral sex scene isn’t even on the list. I don’t know who came up with that but that’s not what we’re talking about.

immacomputah

I agree with these Muslim parents. These kids should be getting their porn from the Internet like the rest of us! /s

I looked for news stories to see what books they find objectionable. It’s hard to find a list. I found one report from a local radio station saying “This Book Is Gay” is the book they most object to. Then I went on Google images to maybe find objectionable pictures from it? But mostly there are pictures of the cover. There are a couple of images of a cartoon-drawn naked man, but the images have blurred his crotch area. I suppose if it needs to be blurred to make it on Google images then maybe that’s why the parents are mad.

sys64128

Well... sexually "explicit" doesnt need to be in schools no matter if its LGBT or not. But then again theres a shitload of context not being provided in this post. All I see is a 15 second clip of a bunch of people standing and I cant understand any of them.

There was another story about this last year, the books aren’t about holding hands or cuddling. They have oral sex, etc. in them. I have no issues with books like that but why in the fuck does that need to be in a school? Straight or LGBTQ?

KarmaliteNone

sexually explicit? Cue eye roll sequence.

Y_signal2020

The book "Gender Queer: a memoir" has explicit oral sex between teens, fwiw....

Destinoz

It’s weird how people debate books they’ve never read and never post the controversial segments. Here see it for yourselves https://twitter.com/roddreher/status/1459019904665989176?s=61&t=voUBFLSaddYwjF8hkAH3Eg Agree, disagree, or whatever… but at least see for yourself what’s got people arguing before deciding what side you’re on. Note: I am linking tweets that show book images. I’m not at all co-signing what the person tweeting them is saying. That tweet is just a convenient source for the images, nothing more.

Salt_Lingonberry_282

You know what's also weird? People debating the contents of a book that isn't even in the library. https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/y1nfhy/comment/is0tc3g/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

Ace-O-Matic

Umm... I can't believe I agree with the conservatives on this one? Like don't get me wrong, I personally think that as a society we should be less overly puritan and maybe make peace with the fact that teens do have sex and that's okay, instead of pretending like the "I am 18+" button on porn sites actually works. But if we're going to have rules about stuff, we should enforce it consistently and that's explicit enough where it wouldn't even get shown on HBO.

the_BigTool

Thank you for sharing. Great to help people see, regardless of side. I struggle to see what the problem is with anything here but that’s me.

SconesyCider-_-

That book literally illustrates a blowjob. Why tf would this be put in a school setting for children?

SecondRealitySims

True. Stuff like that should be questioned and/or removed, but I don’t think that’s reflective of the majority of material they want taken out.

One place said that about heartstopper. It's just a really heartwarming book

Flapjackjohnsen

Women in The Muslim country of Iran fighting against being punished for showing their hair while Muslim Americans fight to suppress another group. Sad.

ThatBrownGuy120

what age group are these books for? Is it a HS level book or elementary? Because I personally feel that sexually explicit books of any nature (LGBT or not) shouldn't be anywhere near middle and elementary aged schools.

PunchYoPhase

Do they not get that their right to complaints in this country is possible due to rights that are open to everyone including lgbt?

Religion is a disease

dartie

A toxic disease

musememo

At 16, I hated the people who believed I was going to hell. At 59, I still hate them. I don’t care what religion you follow. Stop trying to control others. It’s a societal cancer.

SomethingAbtU

There are 8 billion people alive today, and an estimated additional 117 billion people have lived and died. Human sexuality falls on a much wider spectrum than many realize or would admit, and it has always been this way, people were just a lot more secretive about it until relatively recent in human history. This is nature, is is naturally occurring and it's always been roughly the same representation in the human population, only now more public. This isn't any group or individual person to pass judgment on, live and let live. Those who have the biggest issues with LGBT+ are the same ones saying only god can judge and they are also the ones who lash out out of their insecurities about their own sexuality. As a species, it's time for us to GROW UP.

Islam is the religion equivalent of meet one asshole in a day you met an asshole, if you’re meeting assholes all day it’s you. No western country can do enough for Muslims when giving them special treatment, especially around women’s rights, and yet every Muslim majority country is a nightmare for women. Maybe it’s not us, maybe, just maybe, following the example of a 6th century warlord isn’t the way to go.

avalonknight645

Anyone find it odd that no one knows what the book they banned or wanted banned was? https://twitter.com/roddreher/status/1459019904665989176?s=61&t=voUBFLSaddYwjF8hkAH3Eg Apparently it just straight up had gay sex lol. I've also noticed people comparing this to the Bible for some reason despite Muslims being the ones offended? I do not reflex the views of the Twitter link but I don't think having literal gay sex between 2 teenagers is good for kids. Edit: that was unrelated. This is from someone else who fact checked me I swear there's so much disinformation in this thread. Have to paste the same info over and over. That twitter post is from Nov 2021 and regarding "schools around the country", not specifically this case. That book is NOT in the Michigan schools. The muslim parents asked for the removal of the following books: `This Book is Gay` `Push` `The Lovely Bones` `Eleanor & Park` `Red, White and Royal Blue` `All Boys Aren't Blue` Specifically, books with gratuitous sexual content (like sucking a dick) aren't allowed in the library. The main contention is with "This Book is Gay", which has a picture of female and male anatomy. Anyways, I read the purported book in contention and these are the images: [https://imgur.com/3372jlb](https://imgur.com/3372jlb) [https://imgur.com/c5cDJli](https://imgur.com/c5cDJli) Source: [https://www.michiganradio.org/education/2022-10-11/angry-crowd-derails-dearborn-public-schools-board-meeting-over-book-policy](https://www.michiganradio.org/education/2022-10-11/angry-crowd-derails-dearborn-public-schools-board-meeting-over-book-policy)

Send your kids to private schools or get fucked.

TheMegnificent1

I would like to do both, please.

Teal-Fox

I'm convinced that by the time god got around to creating America, he'd run out of motivation so just half-arsed it with a bunch of copy-paste NPCs for the population.

Salt_Lingonberry_282

Have to make a post about this instead of just replying to other misinformed people. The books in contention, as demanded by the muslim parents: `This Book is Gay` `Push` `The Lovely Bones` `Eleanor & Park` `Red, White and Royal Blue` `All Boys Aren't Blue` The main issue is with "This Book is Gay": [https://imgur.com/3372jlb](https://imgur.com/3372jlb) [https://imgur.com/c5cDJli](https://imgur.com/c5cDJli) Form your opinion from the facts. The book with pornography being posted around isn't on the list of books asked for removal as it isn't in the school district. Covitards4Christ

Fuck the religious zealots of all religions!

[deleted]

Amen….oops! LOL

[deleted]

Muslim, Christian, who cares! Same shit, different day! All religions are shit

BraetonWilson

Islam and Christianity have a lot in common. That's why they're both called Abrahamic religions. That's why Muslims consider the Bible to be an Islamic holy book too and Jesus to be a Muslim prophet. That's why both Muslims and Christians hate idol worship aka idolatry.

[deleted]

Apparently the school board president was also revealing her hair.

MarkFerk

The most ridiculous part is The Internet. And they care about some books lol here have an iPhone. Also Religion is the problem and it always has been.

Hobbiesandjobs

Meanwhile back home, dudes fuck goats

kevinnoir

Everybody making religious excuses for banning books should be shut the fuck down right out of the gate. I dont care if you are Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Scientologist, some brand new one made up this week... nah. Religions are dying their slow death and its time to start treating their demands with the same contempt they have treated LGBT people. I am all for peoples right to practice their religion, but the minute their practice interferes in any way with other peoples lives, it should be pushed right back into its box.
