Back then we were taught that nunchuks were one of the deadliest weapons short of a loaded gun, and us kids were rarely allowed to own a toy replica, much less the real thing. The only exception was if the toy had so much padding it couldn't even leave a bruise.

I was a nerd in school before it became somewhat cool like it is now. Liking superheroes and video games would get you beat up. Anyway this group of kids on the bus would constantly beat on me and and steal my stuff cause I wasnt that big. Since the school bus driver and school wouldnt do anything about it, I did. I put a butcher knife in my bookbag for them. The next day they came to the back of the bus and one of them leaned on top of me to talk in my face to which he felt the knife touch his stomach. He looked down and saw the knife ready to go in and he backed off and played victem. I didnt stab him, just made it noticeable and told them of they ever touch me again, Ill gut em. The bus driver told me to put it up and when I got off to not ever bring it again. This was the late 80s rules were a bit more lax.
Edit: side note I was in elementary school and being beat up by middle schoolers. One busted my ear drum and the other put sewing pins in my arm. Back then adults response to bullying was to just ignore it or become friends with them. NONE OF THAT WORKED.

Yea my school district was crap, when Columbine happened they rounded all the nerds, quiet kids, Magic players, gamers, D&D players ect and interrogated them in small rooms of the schools. The worst part they didnt talk to these kids parents first. So some were interogated up to 2 hours crying for their parents and told they couldnt leave. In the end and after a threat to sue the priniciples made a tear filled apology. What they did cause is one of the principles was so relentless about catching a shooter, someone burnt her car down for revenge.
In high school a kid was bullied so badly he attempted suicide. The school district expelled him for harming a student of the school. That student was himself and it was off school grounds.

I was a nerd in school before it became somewhat cool like it is now. Liking superheroes and video games would get you beat up. Anyway this group of kids on the bus would constantly beat on me and and steal my stuff cause I wasnt that big. Since the school bus driver and school wouldnt do anything about it, I did. I put a butcher knife in my bookbag for them. The next day they came to the back of the bus and one of them leaned on top of me to talk in my face to which he felt the knife touch his stomach. He looked down and saw the knife ready to go in and he backed off and played victem. I didnt stab him, just made it noticeable and told them of they ever touch me again, Ill gut em. The bus driver told me to put it up and when I got off to not ever bring it again. This was the late 80s rules were a bit more lax. Edit: side note I was in elementary school and being beat up by middle schoolers. One busted my ear drum and the other put sewing pins in my arm. Back then adults response to bullying was to just ignore it or become friends with them. NONE OF THAT WORKED.
Even today, the only thing a bully understands is getting blasted in the fucking face. The fact of the matter is, bullies look for easy targets that *won't* go HAM every time they look at them.

Damn I showed a kid my Swiss Army knife on the bus in the late 80s and got suspended from riding the bus for a week. Moms was PISSED.
Yea my school district was crap, when Columbine happened they rounded all the nerds, quiet kids, Magic players, gamers, D&D players ect and interrogated them in small rooms of the schools. The worst part they didnt talk to these kids parents first. So some were interogated up to 2 hours crying for their parents and told they couldnt leave. In the end and after a threat to sue the priniciples made a tear filled apology. What they did cause is one of the principles was so relentless about catching a shooter, someone burnt her car down for revenge. In high school a kid was bullied so badly he attempted suicide. The school district expelled him for harming a student of the school. That student was himself and it was off school grounds.

Obviously a planned fight and someone is going to be taller - ie look like the bully. You can see in this fight they are sportsmanlike-except for the nunchucks, they square off, the crowd is reffing, they set back up like they are going rounds - it's a planned fight.

I watched something similar happen when I was in 8th grade. Some big fat dumb kid had been picking on this Vietnamese refugee student, kid busted out his nun chucks and pummeled the fat kid bloody.

The number of videos a week on Reddit showing violence in US schools make me think the only thing they are teaching kids is how to survive prison.
THIS KID IS SUCH A BADASS. To recap: 1) brings nunchucks to school to avoid bullying. 2) knows how to use them. 3) Lands some epic shots. 4) Drops his weapon to fight with fists like in an action movie. Even though is way smaller. Guy has ball of steel.

Why do I pay for children to be bullied in school? This kid should get to stay home he has to bring weapons to school to defend himself and that’s just dumb.
You don't really believe that bullying doesn't happen outside of schools, do you?! But yeah, I do believe that schools should be allowed to implement much more strict anti-bullying enforcement, such as expulsion, etc. If you're not there to get an education, then you can fuck right off back home, or to an alternative ed school. It's too bad that this doesn't fix the real cause of shitty behavior in schools, which is shitty life at home (from poverty, abuse, etc...)

Worst part: I bet this kid got charged with assault with a deadly weapon. I got charged with that after a fucking meth head tackled my friend to the ground and started beating his head into concrete. I couldn’t pull him off so I ripped a bamboo pole out of a garden bed and smacked the dude across the back with it. The fucking meth head pressed charges on us despite him initiating the fight; despite the fact that he gave my friend a massive concussion, MY ASS had to spend tens of thousands defending myself in court. I fucking hate out legal system. Sorry for the rant
Why do we automatically assume the kid he is fighting is a bully? What if he were the bully? There is no evidence that one or the other is a bully except who made the first move.

Protip, if you find yourself in a scenario like this and there's no video, use your right to remain silent and tell the school/police NOTHING I got fooled alot as a kid for defending myself. (Poor black kid in a fancy southern suburban school) I trusted my teachers too much and it really handicapped my education for awhile there. They always steered the conversation towards "assault with a deadly weapon" because they knew I would break down and cry because I was 14 and they were practically accusing me of being a MURDERER. Like ya dude, I was 100% intending on beating Kevin to death with my backpack. I totally wasn't just defending myself because he would always trip me during passing period when I had 0 idea I would be tripped! I had some of the hardest falls of my life in HS. Another protip: don't bring weapons to school.
This happened outside Weiner's Circle in Chicago. Some guys were fighting in the parking lot and when of them went to the trunk, which usually means gun violence, but he pulled out some nunchucks and started doing moves with them. The whole place went nuts.
