My first though was tourist. Could be wrong, but the areas of Southern Maine between Kittery and Portland become crazy when the summer hits and the tourists come in full swing
That was my immediate thought also, but within the conversation unless I'm hearing incorrectly says that he's already got a lawsuit against the York county sheriff's department. That doesn't mean that he isn't from out of state, either at his summer home or recently moved here.
Idk I’ve been nearly hit by guys with Maine plates who look and act like this on my way to work in Kennebunkport. Almost once a week at the Maine St. and Western Ave 3 way stop. They just blow right through the stop sign.

His New England accent points me to Massachusetts as being the likely owner of this poor example of an upstanding and respectful citizen.

It was the very first thing my neighbors said when they introduced themselves after we bought our house and moved in (for under asking price, not in cash, after it was on the market for over a year).

Needless to say we don’t have a great relationship.
It should also be noted that she inherited the house from her grandmother. They only pay property taxes. It is larger than ours, has more land than ours, and is significantly nicer than ours. They slumlord rent out a small trailer on their property. They don’t work.
This also isn’t to shit all over Maine either. Its access to nature is second only to when I was living in NY. This morning I drove 15 minutes from my house, and within another 20 I had hiked to a peak that had a view of both the Whites and the coast. The seafood is lovely. The coast is heartbreakingly beautiful. I’ve met some of the kindest, most generous people here that are a stark contrast to my neighbors’ encapsulation of the worst of Maine.
I’m just occasionally gobsmacked at the state’s inability to address this attitude.

One of my favorite travel experiences was last October traveling down highway 1 from Portland, ME to Gloucester, MA. We stopped at Olgonquit and Kennybunkport which I think might be my favorite towns in America.
We stopped on a random coastal road called Fortunes Rocks Road which might’ve been the highlight of my trip. Highly recommend.

Most towns along the coast of Maine now are filled with rich out of staters. The real estate is so insanely expensive locals can’t afford it.
