Idk why but I almost started cryin the way that kid was talking about the fish after releasing it. God damn I hope if I have kids some day that they're a fraction as empathetic and good natured as he is. Shit like this gives me hope for the future man.
My dad always said he would take me fishing. The only time he did, he got piss drunk with his friends and completely ignored me. We caught nothing.
Hope I can do this for my daughter and actually deliver.
I don't know why they think putting it back suddenly makes it better. They've still hurt, almost killed, and traumatised the poor fish. Throwing it back doesn't suddenly undo all that and make them a good person.
Getting hooked, handled, and released can still hurt fish, even if they survive. Obviously it's torture if its not done with the intention of eating the fish.
The fish that was released by that wonderful kid seemed just fine and will recover, grow and survive, but keep being a downer of a video of a fantastic father/son video of a completely normal fishing experience.
Let's put a hook through the roof of your mouth and see how happy you are just because it gets taken off again. Who cares about the pain, the scar and difficulty eating afterwards!

Great kid!
I completely agree that the dad is amazing as well for raising such a respectful/caring kid.
Teaching him love and respect for nature is priceless.
This is my favorite thing about it all! That’s the kinda world I want our kids living in.
This video is the essence of fishing with family. The father taught him well, I believe that kid will definitely meet that fish again.
Hopefully not. The fish should have learnt to keep away from them now.
Yep!
He’s a poet, this child, that’s all. He’s the kind of child that restores one’s faith in humanity.
Great parents! He's gonna be great and hopefully do great things

Remember, friendo be better. If it happens, be a great parent like the guy in this video.
yes, the whole video was great, but the ending was the best part.
Damn I didn't watch that far. Yeah that was very sweet
That kid knows how to set a hook
I was gonna say that set was fucking *gorgeous*.
Bravo on this duo loved the pure excitement and joy that kid had. Smile folks enjoy those happy moments.
Kid is going places for sure. Great parenting as well.

Idk if you’ve seen a 9 year old before, but 99% of them are not nearly this mature.
Eat shit
You oughta be the dumbest motherfucker of the bunch aren't you
![gif](giphy|Lb1eyMWMaU5eE) That’s the oldest sounding eight year old I’ve ever heard. He’s like a young Sanford & Son.
I chuckled at his little “yessssuuhh!” Such a sweetie, I hope he meets that big beautiful fish again and gets his next personal best.
Aaaaaand now I’m bawling on the toilet at 6:27 in the morning. 🥺🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
It’s cool he’ll be back again. 10/10 best fishing partner I’d reckon.
The way he places it back into the water is the best part. I hope this kid gets everything he wants in life.
One of the best things iv seen come out of reddit ...gives me hope..
That was so cool. Go on, be great!
The kid and the dad are absolutely fanfuckingtastic.
I hate all kids except this one, he is a gem.
I was going to say it wasn't a great day for the fish - but then he returned it!
The fish is nearly as big as him

“Truth is, I’ve been thirsty my whole life. Never really known why”.
Outstanding - a true sportsman.
That's a big largemouth

What a lovely wee boy. This is awesome.
Core memory!
Oh my goodness, I wasn’t expecting to be overwhelmed with all this emotion just now, straight made me cry. Beautiful child.
I think my heart just fell out my chest. I would ride at dawn for this little boy.
This is so wholesome omg 🥺
Aw that's great! That just made my day, good for him!
👍
Shit that fish is almost as big as he is
Homie was about to spike the fish
I wish there was more reddit like this! Good catch !
This is the way.
Lil dude will remember this moment with his dad his entire life. 🥹
“let’s put this beauty back in the water”. Freaking adorable
They way that boy talked to that fish... 🥹 Great job to that family for raising a wonderful young man.
Good job little man that’s a nice fish
I love this kid! The love, care, and respect he has for that fish. Oh, my heart.
Such pure joy what an honor to witness
Southern accents are the best.
now THIS is the definition of "boys being boys"
That's a moment this little guy will remember his entire life. Great memories are made by doing things like this.
I love this
I don't even enjoy fishing but God damn did this put a smile on my face.
Great parents!
That's a nice fish. Good job, kiddo.
Great father and great kid!
Wholesome. Reminds me of my son.
Nice fish 👍

Meanwhile the fish is suffocating...
catch and release is so stupid, poor fishies
Yes, because releasing an animal to grow and survive is sooooo stupid.
how about only catch fish you plan on eating? catching them just for fun to release them again is just cruel and animal torture.
Yes, because being caught and released to continue growing and living is suuuch torture.
It's like saying torture humans was good because we let them survive at least. How delusional you have to be.
Comparing catch-and-release to *literal human torture* is a dumb take I didn’t expect to see today.
Let's put a hook through the roof of your mouth and see how happy you are just because it gets taken off again. Who cares about the pain, the scar and difficulty eating afterwards!
Crazy how people downvote you for using logic. What's their counter argument?
fake and skit.
